  • Nice...I have a 1989 Lincoln Town Car. It has 137,000 on it. I hope mine sees as many miles as yours has~!

  • @clborg88 mailman using regular car?

  • Comment removed

  • These cars are built to last! They never really got the credit they deserved. People are just now starting to appreciate these cars. Perfect example of longevity is the Cubans. They're still driving relics from the 1940's and '50's. Too bad we live in a throwaway society. A new car is nice. A well cared for older,.automobile, that's still on the road, reliablly, serving it's owner. is IMPRESSIVE.

  • being rebuilt means the BODY has over a million miles.. the motor doesn't... at least not all of it.. the block and head may be original.. but the internals arent.. i'd like to see a car/truck with over 1 million miles without an engine rebuild... and not a Semi *18 wheeler* as those go 750k easy..

  • I don't know if this is true but a few years back this guy had a VW and he had a couple millions km's on it and VW was so impressed they gave him a new VW.

  • nice car put pause at 0:07 look at the fly in the grill lol

  • Well rebuilding the engine in my book totally takes out the "1 million+ mile engine" claim. If it's rebuilt. It's rebuilt. It's like a new engine

  • I bet that thing would still be good for another 100k miles, a year of racing, then a demo.

  • @puremaplesyrup22 ...... then still be roadworthy... :D

  • I owned a vehicle with a 302-it is a very good engine.

  • talk about quality construction...old cars were built like damn tanks.

  • lincoln goes hard

  • The reporter said he takes advantage of the "lifetime warranty" on nearly every other part of the car. So if I buy one of these old Town Cars now..does the "lifetime warranty" still work? Hit reply to let me know, thanks!

  • @Nightbird No sir. When you get a lifetime warranty on a part it is usually not transferable. However if you get the name and information of the person who purchased the parts they can make the defective exchange. BTW They only cover defects not normal wear and tear.

  • @88soulsurvivor Thanks for the reply! I thought it was a bit too good to be true. I am currently searching for a 1982-83 Lincoln Mark VI Sedan preferably in Black, Dark Blue or Dark Grey..but finding these in good shape and in these colors is almost impossible. Even worst if you want a moonroof. These new Lincoln's just don't give you the comfort factor like the oldies. Thank's again for the comment. =)

  • @Nightbird ... the life time warranty im pretty sure is for each individual part.. some have it some dont.. i could be wrong.. and im pretty sure the lifetime warranty disappears unless you buy a new part that also has it..

  • ''He'll stick with his Lincoln ti'll they day it stops running''

I have a feeling his car might outlive him. 1.3million is impressive either way.

  • the chassis has 1.3 but the engine / tranny were rebuilt at xxx, xxx. its still impressive

  • its a dam deisel and they lastr forever I AM NOT IMPRESSED!

  • @mgs19901 wrong vid

  • Great video! Look at that it's still alive, the Lincoln Towncar 1983!!!

    It's a rival of Mercedes-Benz W116 & W126!!!

    Preety safer than Toyota

    Toyota is a Toy Ota

  • @fordxbgtfalcon he rebuilt the motor at 1 million miles, at the time of this video he has 300k on the rebuilt motor, as far as now he is probably dead. Oh well we all die.

  • @FordNissanChevy oh, my bad, sorry didnt know that. I guess a million miles is pretty damn good. lol

  • How many AODs have you been through old man? My 100K lincoln is on number 3 already. 1987starsand stripes.

  • @rubadubya15 Thats weird.

  • @rubadubya15 Maybe you should get around to putting a brass TV bushing in.

  • This is probably one of those old dudes who does 10mph under the limit 24/7

  • what will stop running first the car or the old man my guess is the old man

  • fords back then sucked too!! thats amazing!! the fuel injected 5.0 V8 from 86 to the end of production, and the 4.6 sohc/dohc and 5.4's are the finest 8 cylinders on the planet in my opinion!! they run without oil!!

  • @gregrooney74 an Engine that Runs without oil?.....that bad for the motor

  • Lincoln is a great car. I have a 1997 Continental. No signs of slowing down or growing old either at almost 150,000 miles. Keep on truckin' my friend!

  • i had the same car , mine had the 32 spoke rims that thing was a tank crashed it on the highway on ice got hit by a semi, and i walked away, i loved that car

  • its a ford what due you expect. there saying built ford tough should go to their car to.

  • Ford is the first to build a V8 for cars.they really are decent cars.

  • Gotta love the million mile milestone!

  • Just goes to show a good car will last forever if you look after it properly. Although my Ford Focus, with 136,000 miles, got a long way to go before beating this car. XD

  • @ld309 ford focus is garbage before it even leaves the factory

  • @counterclockwise123 Ahhhh, but being in the UK I have a European Ford Focus ... Completely different specimen. :P

  • @ld309 yeah the US focus is nothing special, it was good when it first came out tho, but now we are getting the euro focus :)

  • I used to hate Ford because of my parents' piece of shit minivans when I was a kid. But I scored one of these, and I'm a changed man.

  • ya man take care of your car and 1.3 million miles is what you get. If its a lincoln of course. YA BOY town cars ftw

  • Ahh, the town car, crown victoria and grand marquis "Have The Best Motors In The Whole WORLD!!"

  • you'll be lucky to see any new cars make it to 100,000 miles now a days lol My 97 towncar has 132,000 miles and has not had any problems. My buddies 96 towncar has 470,000 miles and just about 2 months ago had a transmission problem which he obviously fixed because it is worth it...GOOD CARS

  • Yer baby go the Lincolns

  • cool that the car has 1.3 million miles but he rebuilt the engine and transmission and many other parts so its not that great

  • @1991honda250x he had the engine rebuilt at 1 million miles. I would would do the same too, no matter how well its built, a million is really pushing it.

  • @FordNissanChevy do u know for sure he waited that long b/c that would definatly make him part of the million mile club and strike up another one for ford

  • @FordNissanChevy I would also rebuild. And i thought 300k was legendary lol

  • @FlightX101 Ford Nissan Chevy?

    You are Tri-curious.

  • @TheCottonTop nope, flaggots killed off my other numerous youtube accounts that had all my good names, and I couldn't think of a good name so i'd figure I would just name my newest channel based on what vehicles you'll most likely see in my videos, rarely a Chevy, a piece of fucking shit Sentra and some Fords. I would really like to change it tho lol

  • @1991honda250x

no million mile toyotas or hondas buddy. they got to count theirs in weak ass km. btw i dont think they have any million km records either.

americans have many million "mile" records :P

  • Only a Lincoln Town Car could be this durable!

  • Until it stops running? Well, if it does stop "running" he can get new parts. So, it's just a matter of how WILLING you are going to pay for those LONG TERM maintenance costs.

  • i hope my 94 lincoln can see that many miles, its been a great car, this story reminds me of my old lebaron 3.0 that motor was indestructable, if you can control the oil consumption. anyways lincolns are like the american flagship.

  • I love those big old American cars. They looked really classy. especially the ones from the late 70's.

  • duh he rebuilt the engine, the chassis usually can last for ever if there is no rust

  • How does a high mileage affect a car? Does it lower performance considerebly and ruin the MPG?

    I have a French car with 160k Miles =[

  • I have 489,000 on my 2001 Towncar. I get 22 mpg city/ 28.5 hwy. 4.6 engine

  • 1998 To 2002 Lincoln Towncars only get 16 mpg city/ 23 hwy. Wow your so stupid

  • Negative, Cornflake. If a car is set up correctly, and driven properly, it can easily get higher mileage than that stated on the sticker. I also have a 99 TC that has logged 29.4 hwy mog on two seperate occasions.

  • @4L60E wow that's good, I am looking to buy a town car which has like 500,000 miles. How does your run?

  • It runs fine, I am getting a glitch w #8 cylinder, I'll let you know whenit's fixed. If you are looking at a TC with High miles, the front suspension, differential, A/C , and the trans are going to need checked. The MAIN THING is body/interior/paint. If you buy the car cheap enough, the mechanical stuff isn't too bad. Get it scanned and tell me the codes, I'll help if I can!

  • I would like to see the amount of money he has spent on the vehicle to get it up to that. If you throw enough money at anything, it will last forever.

  • True, but how you treat it and how well its built are also major factors.

  • Basically, scheduled maintenance. Crown Victorias and Towncars "overdeliver" as far as operating costs gol. They are built for police and commercial service, and as such, are expected to be durable. Scheduled maintenance is important, and when other issues, like brakes or suspension arise, they need to be corrected right away. You can run into things like engine wearing out, etc. Still replacing an engine is cheaper than the depreciation on a new one.

  • yes!

  • just finished a "test tank" with my 18 year old son's'99 TC. In town driving, he ran a 22mpg avg. on 17.8 gallons of regular, with an adiition of 5oz Xylene/5oz Acetone. Not bad, that car has right at 400000 miles on it.

  • @4L60E good point, these cars depreciate way quick. I had a 2001 crown vic which spun a bearing, end up rebuilding the whole thing. Anyways took some time, but saved me money, and the time I would of spent at work so double the time and money. Cars are the worse investment ever.

  • Cars aren't investments. cars are overhead. They represent the cost of getting to work, and keeping yourself and your family safe while doing so. I keep my TC cherry, so whenever it gets a scratch or ding, it goes to the body shop. Any funny rattle or mechanical issue gets fixed right away also. Still, WAY less money than a new car payment, and the car looks and runs like new.

  • The "delta' is always going to be cost per mile driven. So, Take the total cost of the car, interest on the car loan, all maintenance and insurance costs, add 'em up, divide by a million. You would be suprised at the mpg possible on most cars, if they are set uo right, and driven properly. The same mentality applies to commercial airlines. Very strict parameters are inplace to ensure maximum fuel economy.

  • No offense, but I think the car is going to outlast him.

  • lol :D

  • @CsalbertCs It will too. Hell it will probably out last my dad and he's 59

  • he rebuilt it at 1 million miles. He has traveled a total of 1.3 on it. A Cavalier would more than likely never see 1 million miles without having major problems.

  • where do you get this logic from? just assumptions?

  • New cars are more complicated, so there is more that can go wrong with them, plus stuff made back then were built very tough, look at a garden tractor from today and compare it to one from the 60's or 70's. Same logic applies to most things.

  • @FordNissanChevy that what makes the town car so great. Even the new ones last forever. The 4.6 is very easy to service and there are examples of original unrebuilt engines with over 1 million.

  • Okay, when you get your car to beat 1.3 million miles, drop in a comment and tell the world.

  • but does this really count sense he rebuilt the motor?

  • Yeah it counts, because the car is more than just a motor. I am personally surprised the frame is fine.

I bet he covers it up when it rains and he garages it when it snows.

  • FORD!!!!!

  • FORD!!!!!!

  • FORD!!!!!

  • for old retired drivers

  • I'm at least 20 years from retirement and if all '83 Town Cars can run that long, shit, I'll buy one right now. lol

  • Stinkin Lincoln

  • Haha, just like with like with Lincoln, Maine. They said that was the smell of money from the mill, but look at them they went out of business.

  • he woundet get a daime

  • he said he rebuilt the engine and stuff. and if you dont over rev and floor it you would be very suprised how long a car could last.

  • If you never floor it you get large amounts of carbon buildup, and die. If you dont drive it hard, the motor wont get as hot as it can, and the engine will become brittle.

  • It's called preventive maintenance. If you know your vehicle and replace stuff before it breaks, the car will never break down.

  • @Righty736 well what about the rings? That's what wears out the most. The minute your car starts to burn oil, you know that's the beginning of an end to you piston rings.

  • fuck you. if you really take care of your car, it wont fail you

  • All the power to the guy in the video! Awesome, love to see things like this!

  • 1983 LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL WOW a long time with 1 owner!

  • i have and 89 own car that is on around 275000 and has just stanrted having minor problems

  • I have a 1988 Town Car, and I truly believe that mine could go this far as well. It's truly a pleasure to drive.

  • i am from holland and my father had the car back here in holland in 83 brand new ,i was 13 years old then. i was i love at first sight great car then and in my opinion still now.

  • those thing's wear out after a while

  • thanks for the negatives people. I know they wear out after a while -_-

I'm just saying, I know of other million+ mile cars that haven't had either of those rebuilt.

  • your welcome

  • you're.

  • it had a engine rebuild after it hit a million miles. He could have done more miles but maybe he wanted to make sure he would never break down

  • ah, well that wasn't mentioned in the video.

  • oh my bad

  • My dad has a 98 Town Car limo that has 1.6 Million miles.

Face it, these cars are some of the most reliable on the road.

  • they are great cars,, they wont win any races, cops aint gona catch shit in em, but i know why they keep em, cause they are tough as nails,, the Crownvic/ Gran marQuis/ Town car are great cars

  • @IRONSEAN7 best comment I read all day, haha, very true

  • that is sweet i luv early lincolnsin the 80s

  • Still only 1.4% of the way to the Sun. Keep going, Chet.

  • word.

  • only in a ford or gm XD

  • I've always liked towncars

  • Haha, did they have nothing to report that day? That's the only reason I could find that CNN would air this.

    Slick car though.

  • my exact thoughts lol still love the old town cars though

  • Comment removed

  • ok then

  • What he dosnt tell you about is the 5 or 6 motor swaps and the 10 or more trannys he has went through....

  • he didnt tell you becuase that never happened

  • Ford is the only American auto maker that seemed to not let their quality drop too much over the past 3 decades

Good for them!! Thats why they are still OK

  • your obviously a dumbass chevy fan

  • NOW THATS WHAT YOU CALLED A CLASSIC

  • 1.3 million miles? damn

  • Yeah my grandpa is a polar opposite to this guy. He buys a car brand new, beats the absolute shit out of it, changes the oil ever 10 thousand miles, destroys the interior with cigarette burns than sells it 3 years later for an eighth of what he paid.

  • i bet he beats his wife and lynches blacks on the weekends to lol

  • Nah, just runs down Mexican at the trailer park and picks up 65 year old hoes at Denny's.

  • And I thought my van had a lot of miles at about 215,000. Gee witikers!

  • that things a TANK

  • lol. my uncle has a 80 something crown vic and it has over 3 million miles on it (if not another million or two) them fords will run forever!!!

  • tell him to prove it then or call it in, he'll get more fame than these million mile guys

  • Heavey metal hood?! I think they're aluminum, or at least mine is.

  • yours was newer.

  • Ya, I think they went to aluminum in 85 or 86 (Town Cars only).

  • make this a response to this /watch?v=pjzpx_jUUA0&NR=1

  • I could be getting one of these bad boys tonight!!!

    But it's an '87 w/ MPFI :D

  • u can count on those ford 302 V8s

  • Yeah, they dont tell what kind of gas mileage that piece of crap gets..

  • gas milage really didnt matter much.

  • It didnt back then, but it does matter now.

  • Actually, they do tell.

And what does the gas mileage matter to the fact that it has 1.3 mil miles on it?

  • piece of crap???? I gotta 1984.....there no crap buddy

  • He does, only it's not very clear, he says

"That car's good on gasoline, 22 on the highway, 16-18 in town."

It can't be that bad to do 1,300,000 miles. But I expect he drives it real slow and gentle.

  • Sounds like that lincoln has quit running a bunch of times.

  • wicked

  • dam look at that tank i mean lincoln!! cool to see of those with so many miles!! i thought having 225,000 miles on are chevy blazer was alot!

  • this car rules!

  • Im sorry to inform you, but jap cars only get hualed a million miles, and Europe is far to small.

  • Hmmmm, I had to recover plenty of German cars off the side of he motorway when I worked in a towtruck firm. Alot of them had less than 16'000 miles on the clock. They'd just died. Modern cars are aren't built for long durations.

My Honda only lasted 50'000 miles before the cylnder head gasket blew.

  • my nissan has made it to 97k, but its got rust, power steering failure and possible engine problems.

  • Must not have been taking care of them. Most of the cars I see on the side of the road are older American cars. I'll see some older German and Japanese cars off the road here and there, but not as much as American.

  • Thats because you live in America perhaps.??You're bound to see more broken down American cars.Especially old cars.

But how can you not look after a car that got less than 16'000 miles on the clock? German cars are supposed to pretty much look after themselves with supposed high build quality

and not need servicing till 10-15'000 miles.

  • you just contridicted yourself there jethro...LMAO

  • Why contact me, a you need Jethro, not me.

  • Those big body Lincolns are 1 of my favorites!!! I wish I could get my hands on one :))

  • Yeah lol my grand father has a 1978 and a 1981, the 81 is a Signature Series :D Marine Blue with a 351 but the 78 has the BIG 460 in it :D WOO that's got power, I wish I had those 2 cars.

  • awesome video....but the reporters annoying voice got on my nerves lol

  • im sure a pimp would love to get ahold of that car :p

  • aern't you supposed to be resting and stuff?

  • yes, but im really dont care about my own life i live it day by day. waitin for the vids i made to upload then headin to bed

  • yo what the hell happened to you?

  • gotta depend on your Fords. :)

  • Uhh this is irrelevant since its been rebuilt.

  • 'never broken down'

  • so the fuck what lets see a faggy little toyota go that far period i dont care if the engine is rebuilt 20 times it will still suck

  • I just don't see this as impressive, you can make any car last a million miles if you rebuild the engine.

  • bull shit...

and no gasoline engine could go that far without a rebuild so that's just stupid...

most cars would have broken down in that time even with an engine rebuild...

  • there was a 2 million mile chevy all stock, look in my favorites

  • Then you're proving my point that this isnt impressive.

  • yes it is.

  • no dip shit it is impressive because it's never broken down on him. dumb ass.

  • According to this video, this car had a re-build after it rolled over once, or when his odometer read 53 miles, so this car's engine has about a million miles, but the body has over a million
