I hate to burst your bubble.... BUT the "caterpillar" locomotive you speak of isnt real... now if your speaking of the Baldwin Centipede then you just got the name wrong... AND, the Centennial diesel-electric locomotives are the largest diesel-electric locomotives ever built by anyone.
The Centennial DDA40X is 98ft 5in in length, The Baldwin DR-12-8-1500/2 (Centipede) is 91ft 6in in length. Thus proving that the DDA40X is the longest diesel-electric locomotive ever built. If you wish to debate against this then Email me on my account... My family has over 100 years of personal experience in the railroad (great grandfather, grandfather, father, and me) so i know my american railroads...
I'm not sure about the sides of the trucks. the horn doesnt match, but still a good vid. these things go for quite a price and I wish bachmann would make more.
i have one, the sound is no installed, but there is a hole in the main frame for connectors, and the fuel tank has 2 grids for speakers, its dcc installed and sound ready :)
@ariels36 - In case you're still looking for a coupler solution, see if you can get Kadee's #212 "Talgo Truck Adapter" pack - something in that pack should adapt not only Kadees but Bachmann E-ZMate Mk 2 as well to your DDA40Xs.
The outside track for the passenger trains is powered by one separate rerailer. The freight tracks have switches, but the whole setup is powered by one rerailer controlling the tracks.
No one makes them with sound, but wat u can do is buy an MRC dcc sound decoder 8 pin for w/ sounds for sd70's. they hav similar sounds because they're both emd's.
super!!!!!!!!!! Dom

I have two, and they run fine on a 30" radius, but I ground the flanges off the inner wheels to get them to run properly.

Beautiful train, I want to have one like this! The biggest diesel locomotive ever built. Can it run in 22" radius curves?

What couplers did you install on it? I have 3 of those engines but the hole on the kadee #5's is bigger than the screw this locos have.
ariels36 2 years ago
The couplers are easy fit magnetic ones. They were put on the end of a stick that connects to a pocket.

So you got one rerailer to power up the whole track?
AuburnRails 3 years ago
Yep. The whole inside part of the layout is powered by one rerailer.
RCdash9 3 years ago
Oh ok so 3 different rerailers for each track eh?
