Just clearing it up:

The film is set in a fictional town in COUNTY Durham, and not in Durham the city. I guess the musical should be set in the same place... but I don't think it would be Newcastle because, if I remember the film well, an important part of it is an audition in Newcastle that Billy misses. Mind you I haven't seen the film in a few years so this could all be made up.

Well as an Irishman I'd know the difference, even though I'm not from a part of ireland whose accent could be confused with the Scottish ones. Although to be fair, in parts of Donegal and Derry, they speak very similarly to the Scots.

I once mixed up a Yorkshire Accent with a scouse accent. A bad one for me, because even though I'm irish, I can pick up the Yorkshire accent fairly well and as a Liverpool fan, I'd normally recognise a scouse accent.

I went to see this musical at the victoria theatre on the 25th of october 2007 and it was the best musical i have ever seen, and ive seen Loads!! Corey Snide Was playing billy that night !!! He was Fantastic.
