That's why now ,there are only about 42.000 (officially) who speak the grecanic or kato-italianika. It is a minority, that the Greek Goverment should show some concern.

Because you are Greek and it is also Greek, however, it goes many centuries back some linguists say 1200 BC others 800 AC. Myself, as a Greek too, I really doubt that Griko could be related to any ancient Greek dialect as it is much closer to modern Greek. In this song there is only one italian word 'penseo', all others are greek

Well, I believe it is a dialect as well as a language. Unlike other parts of Puglia...I'm from Bari, our dialect is only dialect and closer to Italian, Griko is the only "dialect" in Italy that is closest to a foreign language. However, all of Puglia has greek roots, some parts more some parts less.
