1)Does this work with the Yamaha PSR E223? (it has MIDI in/out)

2)Does the Midi to USB work if I were to connect it to Garageband on the iPad via the Camera connection kit?

    3) Also are there any windows alternatives? I want to use the same setup as you just different software on my PC.

I can't find my Roland manual. Any suggestions?

  • My drumpad only has a midi out, will this work?

  • Garage band with Motif Rack XS? Possible?

  • heyy, great vid! but for some reason when i plug mine in it pops up the same (one more input) or something like that but it won't actually work any ideas whether its a setting wrong or just need a knew cable (at the moment i brought a cheap one off amazon) ohh and i have a Kawai CN390 if that helps. Thanks

  • Would this work on a Microkorg to Fruityloops?

  • @EffWalter yep! but the velocity sucks ass

  • @GaragebandandBeyond the garageband instruments are great and all, but i want to use the instruments on my keyboard. how do i do that?

  • And I got it from Ebay

  • I have a Midi Cable and I'm using a Adagio KDP-18 Digital piano. And my Midi USB Cable doesnt pick up signal?

  • MAudio Uno doesnt work with Windows 7

  • @LTPVG Yes it does. I have an M-Audio Uno for my keyboard, and it works perfectly on my Windows 7 computer. You obviously don't have a correct driver or something if it doesn't work.

  • @KevinScottFries what softwere do you use to control by keyboard? I am looking for something simple and fun just to enrich my keyboard sound. Fruity loops looks much complicated for me... take care!

  • @LTPVG have you tried the 6.1.2version of the driver for windows 7?

  • does this work with windows vista?

  • Hi, nice video.... but does it work on Windows??? It would be great.... what is the name of that music software??

I use a usb cable that has a mono quater inch jack at the other end.I see the master volume moving when pressing my piano's key but i do not hear anything.

  • @jackassqwe1 Search for a video of mine called "Garageband help" it should help you!

  • @GaragebandandBeyond never mind, this piano is too old & is not MIDI capable. Now Im going to sell it & buy a synthesizer(i have to tell you this)

Some idiot is selling a $300 synthesizer for $85 & its because the keys are dead. I just saw a video on how to fix it and its easy.

  • my midi has only midi out there is no midi in .

    does it work?

  • @busep93 Yes it will work as a MIDI controller for all the sounds in GB

  • Is there anyway you can import the sustain from the keyboard to garageband when recording? On my keyboard I just turn on the Sustain option and play it, but when I connect it to my mac using MIDI-to-USB interface, that sustain effect is lost. How can I make the sustain effect permanent on garageband?

  • I have a Yamaha MO8 Workstation and a MacBook Pro. I also have a USB-MIDI interface. All I want is to record the sounds from my workstation into garageband, and I can't seem to find any way to do it. I've searched everywhere online and nobody seems to know the answer. I'm beginning to believe it's not even possible, which is stupid because it seems like such a simple thing. What am I missing?

  • @FoffmanMcLoven You need to take the audio outs from your keyboard with a 1/4" cable. Read the comments below, I've answered this questions a few times before. Good luck!

  • Is it at all possible to use sounds from your MIDI keyboard? Like say if they were pre-programmed into your keyboard and you wanted to use that specific sound as opposed to a sound that is in Garageband?

  • @YoungRicanPrince Of course! Just use th audio outs. Unfortunately you won't get any MIDI info, but you'll get the sounds

  • @GaragebandandBeyond will it record onto the track is what I'm asking I guess

  • @YoungRicanPrince Yes, you will make a track for a "real instrument". It will record it just fine.

  • @GaragebandandBeyond ok you are really helpful and I thank you for that. One last thing though. I have a Casio ctk-593, and I just got a MIDI to USB cable to hook up my MAC to my keyboard. Everything is connected, and it works fine as a MIDI controller(where it plays the effects of the garageband software instruments). I was wondering do I NEED to install the driver for my keyboard?

  • can u buy this at Bestbuy??

  • Great stuff - got hooked up with the M-Audio Midisport UNO with my Yamaha PSR-E223 and MAC with OS 10.6 - Input works fine but cannot figure out how to get it to play back through the keyboard and out the attached amp. Figuring audio out preferences either in GB or the MAC does no good. Can you help

  • MIne sounds really low

  • I have a M Audio USB Producer mic. & i plug the headphones into the mic but when im done recording i can only hear the song i recorded in the headphones & not the speakers, if i wanna listen to it in the speakers, i have to change the output to system settings then if i dont like the recording and wanna re record i have to change the output back to the mic!?!!? Please help with this problem?!!?!:(

  • i have about .5sec latency on this thing with ableton Live. my drivers are up to dated from m-audio website. Any suggestions???

  • Will this work for a PC and is there a program for a PC that is simaler to Garage Band?

  • thank you. very nice of you to add your videos to help us. I have a yamaha psr 640 and i have the UNO. I looked on the driver list for UNO and it appears that it does not have a driver for iMac osx 10.6.5. It has 10.6.4 but not the latest. I just bought an AKAI contoller, small one BUT I would still like to see if it is possible to use my yamaha psr 640. Can you find anything on this issue?

  • @stefaniscovolo The one for 10.6.4 will work on a 10.6.5 system. As long as you have the latest drivers it should work.

  • Ok so i connect it to the mac and in opens up in garageband saying 1 new input is avabilbe and i press ok and stuff, yet, it still doesnt pick up my keyboard? :S

  • @HangoverDoll probably you should double check if your midi connection is correct. midi-in on the keyboard should be connected with midi-out cable, etc.

  • @jgsky yes i figured it out soon after i posted this, i had the in and out the wrong way around haha

  • my keyboard only has midi out , what shall i do guys???

  • @lemonationish midi in midi out ?

  • my keyboard doesent have 2 midis- it only has a midi out, what shall i do, i have a mac os x and garageband, what to do??? :(

  • it is recognizing my Midi input and says "Midi input is now available", but whenever i play on my keyboard it doesn't pick up on my computer.

It also recognizes the midi input in Garageband Preferences

  • my midi does not work

  • I just bought a tracklink midi to usb interface for my optimus md-1200. I've plugged it in just as instructed while garageband is open. Everything happened in garageband as you showed, however the midi light on the interface doesn't show lit and there's none of the garageband instrument sounds playing. Any suggestions?

  • @samsok4evr Make sure you have the latest driver for your device. Also look inside the GB prefs for "MIDI inputs" make sure that it is recognizing the device.

  • @GaragebandandBeyond Cancel! I got it figured out finally. Thanks for the reply though!!!

  • i do try to figure it all out. ha.

but it is sometimes hard. but alright thxs. i appreciate it.

  • alrigh thxs.

now where do you go to print them out?

  • @GaragebandandBeyond

    thxs.

now how do you print the notes out???

like where do you go to?

  • @darkillusion88 You should really be trying to figure this out on your own! Experimenting with Garageband is half the fun!

To print your music, go to "File" at the top, click on it, then select print. It's similar to every other program when you try to print.

  • ok so. once you connect your keyboard to garage band, and it reconizes it. when you started recording. and end the recording. n you click the sisscor sign. you can see the notes you just played correct? like garage bands writes all the notes down on the music lines. and then you can print it out right???

  • @GaragebandandBeyond hi bro if u know! how i connet m audio on piano to logic pro 9 thank you

  • Can I use it to the Casio LK57?

I'm trying to get some pure quality sound from it. (For my Music Covers)

  • what if your midi keyboard only has a midi out?

  • how do you reduce latency??? Thats the biggest problem im having. I have a m-audio keyboard connected by usb t my mac. I put the option to minimize it, I cleared my macbook hard drive and started fresh, and its only about 6-7months old PLEASE HELP!! ANYONE!!

  • @telisakeys Make sure that the "Timing Enhancement" is off. and make sure that your power saving option (in your main prefs) is set to "optimize for performance"

If you have a lot of tracks try locking all the tracks you're not working on.

Also make sure you have the latest driver for you M-Audio.

    Good luck!

  • i am using garageband with my mircokorg xl synth and i notice when i play a software instrument along with a premade loop, the loop is alot louder, also if i use my computer keyboard with musical typing, its also alot louder than when i use my synth. do you know how to fix this?

  • you save my life with this tutorial! just bought a pitch to midi guitar and didn't know how to connect it! It's an old skool Casio Mg-510

  • you save my life with this tutorial! just bought a pitch to midi guitar and din't know how to connect it! It's an old skool Casio Mg-510

  • cool desktop background :thu:

  • Can you setup the knobs on your midi keyboard, especially on the Behringer UMA25s. I really want to know this, because I tried almost everything I know

  • can it work with garageband '08

  • @youthefaaaaaaaag Yes it works perfectly with 08

  • @GaragebandandBeyond Thank You

  • thanks a lot dude. i was getting stumped for awhile. glad i came across your page. worked like a charm. bravo. this almost deserves a giftcard almost ;) with all kidding aside thanks again.

  • thank you dude

you are like the only one that has this up.

  • hi when i connect my midi to my mac it says the number of midi inputs has changed but you still cant hear it coming through the mac or record from it ?

  • i just bought the new macbook. before i used to connect my microkorg with the M-audio uno (im not using it as midi controller but just to control the tempo) i remember i had an option on the right side under piano then set to midi ( i used the arpeggio/ microkorg you cant really control the tempo) but with the new GB i dont see this option, i have look everywhere but it looks like no one can help me. idk if you can help me with this issue?

  • I'm not getting any sound when i plug my keyboard (exactly as you instructed) are theer any exceptions to the rule, like say some setting needs to be changed> am so frustrated

  • @screaminguitars Hey there, do a search on YouTube for my video called "Garageband Help Troubleshooting. Why don't you hear anything?"

There should be something in there that should help you.

If you don't figure it out after that let me know and I'll try to help

  • You are great! the video so far thank you!

  • @jogee80 If your MM6 has a usb port on it all you do is plug one end of the USB cable into your keyboard and the other into your Mac. If you do this while GB is open it will automatically recognize your device and set itself up.

The Synth sounds should have been installed during the initial installation of GB. If they are not there you need to reinstall Garageband.

  • hi, i got a drum machine with midi. i want to record the sound from that onto my computer, how would i do that?

  • @batterycock IF you want to get the sounds from your drum machine you have to take the normal Audio outputs and connect those. Unfortunately you will lose all the MIDI info, but you'll get the sounds.

  • hey man.. nice video...

do you know how can i change the midi channel of one track?

my situation is: i wanna create, for example, 16 tracks, each one with a diferent instrument and diferent midi channel, and then switch the midi channel by my controler to play in live.

    thanks for your atention

  • im not sure if this comment made it through, cuz i cant see it when i refreshed, but anyway, on my m audio uno, (after everything is plugged in) the usb light is pulsing slowly, the midi in light is flashing fast, and the midi out light is not even on. and im getting no sound. garageband said that it detected one midi input... im really confused... help!

  • @GuitarPivot Sounds like you might need the new drivers for your UNO and you computer. You can find them online.

  • i plugged it all up, the usb light is slowly pulsing, the midi in light is flashing really fast, and the midi out cable is not even on. (on the m audio uno) and im geting no sound. help!

  • Garageband says I have one MIDI input available and I hear no sound when I play on my keyboard. I'm using a korg N5 and some USB MIDI thing I found. Do I need an m-audio uno for this to work?

  • what exactly IS Garageband ?

  • @Perfectionist97 A recording program that comes on Mac.

  • Do I need to buy a midi interface in order to use a microkorg or yamaha mm6 to the computer??

  • @hardcorefan343 if they only have MIDI ports than yes. If there are USB ports on your keyboards, you can just use those. Sorry I'm not familiar with the keyboards you listed.

  • Great dude!

  • thanks man, helped alot

  • thanks dude! your very easy to listen to. entertaining and informative

  • hey do you know how 2 install suondsations d50 voice packages y midi loader 2 the computer i buy these package and i can make these 2 work

  • what if u want to record using the built-in midi sounds from the keyboard rather than the built-in sounds from garageband? how would you link it up onto garageband?

  • great info. been looking for this for a while. cheers

  • hey- please answer:
