Amazing song - until the sax. Sorry big man. RIP and u were amazing but this song works best stripped down to its core. Sax is too jazzy and too happy to be in a song this intense and emotional.
I don't think you love me anymore. You auctioned my favorite plaid shirt to the highest bidder. The bidder truth hurts. I guess the brown eyes have it, and the Blue Eyes are Crying in the Rain.
I love it! I'd only ever heard the live version before, and I've always wanted to hear the studio version of this song. Patti Smith is great, but nobody does it quite like Springsteen.
Thanks for posting this great Bruce Springsteen classic. The sheet music for Roy Bittan's wonderful piano part on "Because the Night" can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription.
grew up on this music. hes like a father, raised with his words.

@BrunoLeBoss Yeah, but since the song didn't fit in on the darkness album he gave it to Patti Smith.

This is true.Jimmy Iovine, the enginer on Darkness and producer of Patti's album Easter was the middle man for her getting the song.
