Is it a bad thing when everyone claps....like they weren't actually expecting a safe landing??

@rekjavicxxx From what I've gathered, South Americans clap to commend the pilot for landing because they appreciate the effort that was put into the landing. Regardless of how "good" it was. If it's rough they gasp, and then clap..
