It just sounds like they're saying Yangtse, They're not. Someone sent me a translation. It's about firefighters who just got off the night shift in Edo. They see a circus or group of players nearby and decide to go watch and drink beer to relax. The stage catches fire and they spring into action.
They're singing in very traditional Japanese and using traditional Japanese instruments. In fact, in the beginning in the subtitles it says they are singing in Japan (Lake Biwa).
The fat guy is singing like that because the music requires him to.
This is one assume video that could make this traditional Japanese music more popular with the young people, don't you think?
Someone who thought it was a Chinese group named it Smoke on the Yangtze. That doesn't make it Chinese. The subtitles are in Japanese, the instruments are the Japanese versions of instruments adapted from China about 1000 years ago, and at the beginning of the video there is a subtitle stating that they are playing next to the largest lake in Japan (Lake Biwa). And the title at the beginning says something like The Disappearance of Edo (Edo being the old name of Tokyo.)
Yeah, I thought so at first...but then I skipped around the vid, so it sounded more like Mandarin than Japanese. Oh well. I guess the screaming doesn't help either XD Love my chinese grandparents (they yell in Mandarin alot)
Not really...I don't know how you came up with that supposition, but I wouldn't do that in the future if I were you XD Not that I want to be (no offense intended, just statement of fact).
Hahahahahahahahaha! This is full of win IMO...

I wonder what will the Deep Purple think when they see this?
jasonloseefu 4 years ago
They'll probably light up a toke and get blitzed... then run around naked. Then think to themselves "Why didn't we do it like that?"
