Let me rephrase that. She needs a stronger man who can support her like Namor. A man who she doesn't have to have an affair with and steal from another woman (not that she could. Scott still loved Jean and wanted her. When Jean died to get Scott to move on so that he wouldn't be sad all the time she made him pick Emma isntead. That is at least until Jean comes back and Scott goes back to his true love)
I love Jean but I like Emma as well. Personally I feel Emma shouldn't need a man. She is more capable on her own and being with someone kills her character. As long as she is with Scott I can never accept her unfortunately.

This is her eternal struggle and it plays out well, to want to be loved but still maintain her independence. It's driving her crazy but the X-men have become her family and even though she loves it, it really puts her off her breakfast because it is for her counter intuitive to her survival instincts.
And Emma is great! There's no reason to compare her to Jean, they have nothing in common except for telepathy. This Emma VS Jean debate is old and childish.
