The government stays away from this issue because of the thousands of high up organized crime advocates they have in jail because of a simple possession charges. If pot were legalized you would have about 2 million appeals on your hand. Not to mention lapse in income while the government switches from taking money from people for possession to Taxing the sale of Cannabis. Legalizing pot sounds simple and it's prob more cost effective in the long run, but thats the government . One big Wait list.

Some years ago, a prosector charged me with a 4 year felony for posessing less than 0.5 grams (1/32 oz) of marijuana. They used to do that all the time here to scare people into pleading guilty to a 2 year misdemeanor (Yes, you could still go to jail for 2 years if you violate probation).
It was at that moment that I became homicidal. I'm less like that now but. I would shoot someone, ANYONE, through the head if they even thought of doing that to me again. And I hope other people do too.

alot of states already voted for medical marijuana (cali, alaska) but the federal government steps in and says, "No, the people don't know what they want, keep it illegal/decriminalized, w/e." I'm glad more and more people are starting to wake up and realize what's happening though.

I am on probation for my friend having a joint in his shoe while I was driving. I got 2 DUI's, Possession, and a couple minor driving violation. The point it, it does not matter what the laws are. If a cop wants you in jail, he will put you in jail. REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU DID. This is the world in which we live.

Michigan passed a medical marijuana proposition this last election. So it should be interesting to see if all the asshole prosectors use federal law to supercede the state ammendment.
There should be advocates against vicious prosecution because it happens hundreds of times a day in this country.

Some years ago, a prosector charged me with a 4 year felony for posessing less than 0.5 grams (1/32 oz) of marijuana. They used to do that all the time here to scare people into pleading guilty to a 2 year misdemeanor (Yes, you could still go to jail for 2 years if you violate probation).
It was at that moment that I became homicidal. I'm less like that now but. I would shoot someone, ANYONE, through the head if they even thought of doing that to me again. And I hope other people do too.
