It's funny to see a cigarette and a pipe being smoked indoors. It was a different world back then, for better or worse. I'm glad to see less slap bass in popular culture nowadays.
This theme and the closing credits to Family Ties are the reason that I hate the sax. When this show came on and when Family Ties went off the air it was my bedtime as a child so I always associate the instrument with being forced to go to sleep at night.
One of my FAV shows. Used to watch it with my dad, when I was a kid, after he'd come home from work. Went years without seeing it, until they started playing the reruns on Comedy Gold. Friggin' happy. Now, my hubby loves the show, and we watch it together, every chance we get. : )
But....for some odd reason, I remember being TERRIFIED of Bull, when I was little. Never figured out why. That's long passed now, and I know just how hilarious he really is....lol
Notice something in this pilot. There are three missing from the pilot that wound up making the show. The woman who played the bailiff (Marsha Warfield) and the woman who played the public defender (Markie Post). Anderson, Larroquette, and Moll are all originals.
i used to watch this show when it was on late night syndication at like 10 or 11 pm. i was like 6 years old, didnt know what was goin on but i watched this and arsenio hall every night.
@CombatSportFan Too bad I don't recognize Richard Moll in the movie Flintstones he's hard to recognize in that movie but on this show he's easy to spot especially with the credits.
Pretty grown-up show for a kid of the 80's LOL I remember also watching a lot of shows that weren't for kids in the 80's - Mr Belvedere, Charles In Charge, Facts of Life, Cheers, etc. They were for grown ups but the content was G rated.
@Cyclops236 I know that. I was reffering to it being a show geared towards older people, like adults and since I wastched it when I was younger than ten, everyone older than fifteen was an adult. DUH!!!
In 1992 I offered Harry Anderson 50 bucks to eat my stool...he did it for me and drank 3 gallons of my piss. he did it for free. I ended up buying him a grilled cheese sandwich for his effort
'80s jazz songs (Rhythm of the Night, Self-Control by Laura Branigan, Billy Jean, Rhythm is Gonna Get Ya, The Heat is On, etc.) or heavy-beat gangsta rap.
Even if it does sound like porn music, it's better than what's already on the radio most of the time...nothing except filthy gangsta rap and grunge metal.
@riksux how old are you and where are you getting your infomation from. rhythm of the night and billy jean arent jazz its r&b. and the radio doesnt play gangsta rap anymore, that era for rap has come and gone already.
@riksux Gangsta Rap?!?!?!?! Gangsta Rap hasn't been popular since '96 dag-nabit!!! There's a lot of worse, horrible garbage on the airwaves these days. Club hop and house music and emo fag hits. I'd KILL for some good old fashioned gangsta rap. Back then people who dressed. Weused to have violent fights every day when I was in school. There's still some poser minorities who dress "gangsta", but they're about as hard as Elmo
Loved this show.. even though I knew I was too young to be watching it at the time. Dan Fielding for president.

Dang this is REALLY old. I don't remember a season where bull had hair, nor do I remember that public defender.
CombatSportFan 1 year ago
@CombatSportFan this was the first episode, this public defender was only on the pilot. This show had a lot of turnover if you think about it
and Bull had more of a buzz cut in the first season then it became completely bald

@crassyfrake Yeah, I didn't start watching the original run until well into Christine and Roz's introductions.

You mean it sounds like CLASSIC '70s porn music.
Nowadays, porn movies probably either have cheap
'80s jazz songs (Rhythm of the Night, Self-Control by Laura Branigan, Billy Jean, Rhythm is Gonna Get Ya, The Heat is On, etc.) or heavy-beat gangsta rap.
Even if it does sound like porn music, it's better than what's already on the radio most of the time...nothing except filthy gangsta rap and grunge metal.
