Good idea, just not revolutionary. Gas tank, this is a good move to centralise a bit more mass. BUT its only a contributor for pros. Why ? because the rest of us run very short motos with just a little gas in the tank. Simple. Now for the beast part of this bike, the chassy. Yep the "double S" frame is a good idea . Why? because aluminum was a bad move for moto. We need a bit of flex, the right kind of flex. Steel does this easly. Aluminum has to have more "curves" to get it right.

Ok people look ignore the hype and get to the bottom of it all. !st this bike IS a move in the right direction HOWEVER it is not as "radical" as we are lead to believe. What ?! you say... Ok as a design engineer I will enlighten you. Yes centralising mass is a good thing, BUT the tilted cyclender is not a BIG difference over the others. It is a difference and every little bit counts BUT its a small change when you look at the actual weight distrabution.

Its nice to finally hear a good in depth review of the YZ. All the reviews seem to talk about adjusting to this bike. Is it really that different that you will need to adjust your riding style to hop from a 09 to a 2010? Or is it that you are just uncomfortable for the first few hours on it but still have good lap times?

Id go with the latter from what ive heard. It is a better handling bike, with much better balance and weight distribution, so after adjusting to the benefits, you would only be quiker. So, id say you could only get faster on this bike. Personally, i think the other manufacturers will take up most of the ideas this Yamaha has eventually. If they do, Yamaha has set the standard for motocross bikes which others need to match. Good for us as we get this too ;)
