wow - could you specify: vehemently forced? Russian soldiers left their lives for the czech liberation. I used to belive that the the spring 1968 was a tragedy. Not anymore. That what we have now all around the eastern europe is a tragedy. We are the slaves of the heartless economical invasion "vehemently forced upon all of us" Think about it.
Let me try to specify the expression: Censorship which puts to silence the best thinkers, open-minded inspirational writers and heartful artists (Kubisova one of them), dead bodies near the barbed wires, from which the iron curtain was woven, greedy cowards with the IQ of a fence post at the helm of our state, sword of Damocles under the control of the secret police hanging over everybody's head, political victims sentenced to death in manipulated trials, ..
...innocent people serving their life sentences in uranium mines, outstanding, endowed and hardworking ladies and gentlemen allowed to work only as boilermen and at similar positions with minimum contact with and influence on the other people. Of course, I pitty the poor soldiers. But it seems more than probable, that their lives meant nothing in the minds of their divine leadership, which planned to acquire new satellites for the Russian empire and force the communist ideology into our heads.
@danunach Hey, friend, you are very mistaken. Russian soldiers in 1945 did not "liberate" Czechoslovakia, they occupied us! They rapped hundreds thousands woman including girls aged 12 to 15. They robbed and murdered civilians, they madly bombed and shelled towns and villages where no enemy soldiers were! Not the spring 1968 but soviet occupation was the tragedy. Now we have freedom and some recent problems in economy are not very important for most people. Think first before you write something
@zuzanett1 Well, you know that there is no way we can agree on the given subject. Just don't belive all you hear or read. If you wish forget Lidice, love german fashists and spread your poisen words about the russian soldiers. Every war is a tragedy but don't go telling lies not knowing for sure thet you're not mistaken. And, by the way, don't call me friend....
Ooops, I've just had a better listen-to and there is more:
O jarních vodách, které cestu zaplaví,
o lidech dobrých i zlých,
o cestě, která věčným steskem bolaví,
o bílých křížech na polích.
Plus I've made a mistake in the chorus. It is NOT "o louce, tůni, očích dívky copaté", it should be "o hloubce tůní v očích dívky copaté" (more or less, "about the depth of a pool in the eyes of a tressy girl")
A bit lousy transltion of mine: Nobody mores gonna tell us these days Whod put it there Whod left the garmon in the bushes Nor who used to play it. Nobody more knows about who would pamper it in his arms Who boasted its mother-of-pearl keys Even the Cyrillic inscription cannot be read any longer Heaven knows who was the one to play the songs About a meadow, a river pool, the eyes of a tressy lassie, Abt snow-white birches Abt a journey that ends up in a snow-drifted clearing
Harmonika v křoví dožívá Ztratila už dech Už se jenom větrem zachvívá Prostřelený měch. ...

"About springtime water that floods the road,
about good and evil people,
about the journey that sores with everlasting homesickness,
and about white crosses in the fields."

Going to translate the rest in a moment..
vroghimen 3 years ago
The springtime waters, the soul, journey and the horse
Who was the one to play
A girls tresses, meadow, eyes and whirlpool
And what was next
Who actually used to play the instrument
Girls tresses, the meadow, eyes and the pool
And what came next.
* Admittedly, it is a very cumbersome, clumsified translation. The lyrics has lost most of its charm, but now you have some idea as to what it says...
vroghimen 3 years ago
About a horse ride through the steppe.
The accordion finishes its life in the bushes
It has lost its breath
Only the wind now twangs its shot-through bellows.
Nobody more knows about who would cherish it in his hands
Who boasted its mother-of-pearl keys
Even the Cyrillic inscription cannot be read any longer
Heaven knows who used to play songs with it
