  • mr gatorrockif you have please post shennendoah by the browns,i have it but i know nothing about how to post ty roger here

  • Jim Ed Brown is so relaxed, I'm amazed he retains the rigidity to stand!

  • Don,t be sorry, its nice to a have a good sense of humour.

  • I remembering my Uncle Ben singing this when I was little....

  • @1955grandprix Was he cooking rice at the time? (sorry)

  • @Gatorrock787 ...nope...lol...got it though!!

  • @Gatorrock787 I know you weren't able to resist that line :) It was too funny not to. Nice song though, no matter who is singing it.

  • if more of these lyrics and music were sung there will be more love and respect among fellowmen

  • great old classic --- thanks for sharing

  • It's strange. Such a plethora of great country and bluegrass songs. I wonder how many homosexual people growing up in their generation listened and hoped to hear something that resonated with them.

Like a stranger in the world that could turn upon you - simply for being who you are. So they are separate/apart. Destined for greater spiritual life or dishonest camouflage amongst the sharp suits and slick hair.

Such a loneliness can never be imagined. Such a silence of song.

  • The box CD set is awesome

  • I have listened to quite a few of this song to-day, and by far this is the stand out version, how romantic, and great clear quality. I just love it, Well done, thanks for sharing. They are great and I would love to see them live, I think I am too late eh?

  • Very nice. I used to have hundreds of country records, but somehow

never heard this cheery song before.

    Tnx 4 posting.

  • Have to be up there with the best with the harmony of these these two

  • Comment removed

  • I LOVE THE BROWNS !

  • hey triple Joe, couldnty agree more my many thanks tothe poster

  • Fantastic old Browns songs (by any standard!). Thanks for posting 'em.

  • thanks al ..they make it look so darn easy

  • How I like that young lady, as she stands for the All American woman, that we looked up to after the war. I remember a girl of our village going to the States and whenever she came back the whole place wanted to look at her and marvel.Yes those were the days .

  • Cool. Before color tv.

  • this is my uncle and aunt also my grand mother is not in this song she isnt because shes too young

als all the people that thin i should sing with my sis say i for all we know we could be really good but i sing like J e my sis sings like Bonnie my grand mother

  • @stone123er Bonnie was on the same TV show.... see "Would You Care" on the right side of this page.

  • @stone123er your aunt Maxine is one of favorite singers. i bought her LP. on eBay. and her music was before my time. but her voice is beautiful. carries thru the years.

  • @stone123er You should sing with your sister!

  • @samjessin7 ok ill try she sings good harmony

  • @stone123er You have a family to be proud of AND I didn't realise The Browns had so much music, I only really knew one song, The Three Bells, but this one has to be up there with the best I have heard. I played it over the phone the other day and she couldn't believe how good the harmonies were between these two. FANTASTIC. keep posting this fabulous music. i sit on here some days for hours listing to this type of music, so relaxing although a bit hard to relax and tap your feet too., Gary

  • @mollymitch1 I have several other clips from the Browns on my channel if you do a search on my channel page. Also Maxine Brown is on Facebook if you would like to be her "friend".

  • @stone123er Can you please tell me who the fiddle player is? He is fantastic, Gary

  • @mollymitch1 Hey Gary, Stone123er didn't post the video... it was me. Sorry, I don't know the fiddler's name though.

  • @mollymitch1 The fiddler is Tommy Jackson who played on the grand ole opry for a long time

  • @levelmanful No that's not Tommy. His name slips my mind though.

  • @Gatorrock787 I think you are right but he sure looks a lot like hm

  • @stone123er I have the original 45 it says jim,ed maxine and bonney brown,however,its a great song.

  • @stone123er Love their music. Check out Daves Highway. A man in the radio business since '47 said they've got it and he hasn't seen that kind of harmony since The Browns. DH is awesome! They're only teens, but their

harmony is incredible. They'll be a huge success one day.

  • @stone123er Wouldn't they be your Great uncle and Great aunt if Bonnie was your grandmother?

  • these guys are just incredible. jim is possibly the smoothest singer ever, with some of the best phrasing around. maxine adds just the right amount of country. when they got taken over by the nashville machine, this balance disappeared -- maxine and bonnie became mere background singers and jim ed tried to become the next jim reeves (and jim ed was better than jim reeves). it's a pity -- jim ed could have been the biggest star in country music, a rival to george jones.

  • just perfect Harmony so lovely to listen to, while the sound recording is clear.

    Many thks for the posting

  • Check out new novel, "Nashville Chrome".

  • Awesome, thanks for posting! The world would be a better place if this classic, traditional country would ever make a comeback! (At least it would be for me)

  • @Bren000t It would be for me and many others they was so much better in my oppinion.

  • @Bren000t Thats the truth..

  • I thank you so much. I have loved this song most of my life. Thank you for this blessing.

  • Wow!!!

  • This video is just too unbelievably fantastic for words. Although I have no idea where this clip may have come from, I do know that it is a historical treasure from the golden age of "real" country western music. Many thanks to the poster.

  • @tripleJ1955 According to Maxine this was done in California.

  • @starkid712 I read Maxine's autobiography too. Very cool. This particular performance was recorded at Bradley Studios in Nashville.

  • @Gatorrock787 Do you happen to know what year?
