  • Can't stand Jonathan Ross, what on earth is he doing at the BBC. Ghastly voice and sheer vulgarity. This tribute deserves a better commentator.

  • Whistle while you work, Hitler is a twerp, he's half barmy and so is his Army, whistle while you work

  • Best Comedy Show Of All Time.

  • there are 3 DISLIKES!!!! HOW CAN ANYONE HATE DADS ARMY?!?!

  • @ComediTv37 there german thats why they disliked it

  • is this on a Johnathan Ross show? and how can i see it?

  • I'm 16 years old, and this is my favourite comedy!!! It's so much better than the crap on telly nowadays. I have the entire series and I never tire of watching it!

  • Dads Army is and always will be a true classic! My mum and dad were in the war, mum is still with us at 91, and was in the WAAF. She still has the videotapes of almost all the series; wonderful fun set in terrible times.

  • this defentely one of the greastests comdey shows of all time

  • In a way, I think Dad's Army has aged quite a lot for one reason. In 1968 when the series started, most WWII veterans were in late middle age- and even many men of the Home Guard (who typically were born around 1890) were still alive. Even in 1978, when the series ended, most people in the UK knew someone still alive who had fought in that war or had suffered from its effects.

That's not the case now. You would now have to be well over 75 to have even the sketchiest memory of World War 2.

  • Brilliant serie!! i can watch this show over and over again, it's timeless!

There was one thing i noticed on this tribute, at 4:50 pike is dressed like a nazi i have never seen that episode while i have every season.. does any one know which episode this is?

  • @Wouternerd series 8 episode 1 'Ring dem bells' A very funny episode. Pity james beck wasn't alive for that episode, walker would have been very funny in it. Hope that helps.

  • How dare you, Ross? Godfrey and men like him would have fought to the end and given Jerry a bloody good caning. I doubt Jonathan Ross has any fight in him at all.

  • at gor 35 kath and kim was th worst show aussie show of all tiem i woud rather listen to justin beiber than wacth kath and kim P.S. i hate justin beiber

  • This video was ruined by Johnathon Ross's clown voice.

  • The best programme of all time.

There is just nothing to touch it.

  • The Best Comedy Ever Made!!

  • What do mean there's no contemporary quality TV comedy?

Seinfeld! The Simpsons! Kath & Kim etc.

    Fuckin whingers

  • I have an orange for you. *posh voice*

  • they don't like it up 'em!

  • DON'T TELL HIM PIKE!!!!!!!!

  • Is that Jontathan Woss?

  • yes

  • Thank you for this video. Dad's Army was absolute gold. Nice one.

  • Just a pity some of the earlier episodes were lost

  • 7:11: "Wun false move...and I pull ze string!" (evil grin)

  • Fuzzie wuzzies!!!

  • your name will also go on the list what is it, doent tell him pike

  • hehehee. pikes my favourite. can someone tell me which episode it is at 4:50 pleaaase. :) great video !

  • The episode is called 'Ring dem bells'.

  • I thank me for having been allowed to get the hang of the English superb films beside the bad Hungarian performances. =)

  • This programe was on every Sunday night and today it hasn't dated.

  • It's true, it's the advantage of making a comdey that's set in the past - it will not age and It will be still as funny back then as it is today - and for further generations to come.

  • There Legends and will never be forgotten! Dad's Army is the British Soul.

  • @MrCookiex10 absolutely, this clip is awesome.

  • This is proper comedy!

  • Would love to see this programme again in full.

  • wow this is hillarious.

  • dont tell him pike:)

  • hearwoes?

  • wow... 4001 views.

you know waht that means james?

more views than apocalypse put together.

  • True, but then everyone likes Dad's army, except Adolf

  • in fact there is only one American that makes me laugh every time I see him... Oliver Hardy.

  • ahh yes the great Dads Army the very best of very good British TV comedy that ruled our TV screens until we had a load of American rubbish forced upon us... love it forever ;-) xXx

  • I APPEARED ON THIS SHOW!....But they cut my bit out (although i do appear a number of times dressed in the origional pike scarf and forige cap worn by ian lavender). If u search my dame (darren stride) into google and click on the daily mail link ull descover who iam and why i was on the show and why sum of my stuff is used in this programme (ie johnathans costume, the air raid siren etc)

  • "The schoolboy is so obsessed with the classic BBC sitcom he has built a shrine at his house to the Home Guard and the war years."

    You built a shrine?

  • thats what a load of people say that my museum would be classed as a shrine. id just say a memorial of my favourite comedy and anything related to the war (except the fighting half. just the home front)

  • do u kno wot epiosde it is at 1:19 with Pike Walker, mainawaring and the flag?? ta :)

  • "the bullet is not for firing"

  • Thank - u :)

  • Fantastic work.

I grew up with this great show and many others of this era..

Its a shame they cant make shows with 1/10000th the quality of these anymore.

    Thanks for posting it.

  • Thank you, yes, it is a shame that the quality of comedies has declined. Alas, unless we write them ourselves, we will just have to stick with what we've got.

They do, however show dad's army now and again, but it doesn't quite make up for it.

  • The main problem with comedies of today is the unneccessary need to shock and affend you. Dad's Army didn't need to do any of that, it was a great classic comedy sitcom that just used a simple outline that could be very effective and funny with a bit of style. I personally have resorted to buying comedies like dad's army, fawlty towers and monty python on dvd simply because the comedies today are pretty awful, and also because they're classics and brilliant. These were the golden days of comedy

  • Try and get the BBC (or their suppliers) to consider anything of a similar nature now - despite the obvious demand!

  • Incorrect... It's from Face the Poster, where the platoon decide that an advertisement poster will increase their size 3 fold. The printing press mixes up the picture of a known P.O.W and LCpl. Jone's recruitment picture. A Polish sargent fing Jones and puts him into a P.O.W camp. When the platoon try to get Jones out they end up there wil him instead.

  • The episode in question is from series 4 and is called "Don't Fence me in" great episode about Mainwaring and his platoon ordered to guard some italian POWs. Classic episode

  • what episode was 7:23 from, because i don't think i've seen it and it look's funny.
