I lived in Manassas, Alexandria, Springfield, Lorton/Newington, and Woodbridge/Dale City and I so remember this commercial. Some years later there was a commercial where they showed the kids all grown up. And yes I remember ALL 6 MORTONS!
I've been wanting to see this commercial again for over 25 years! I was a military brat who arrived in Alexandria in 1980 and I spent 3 GLORIOUS years there watching channel 20!!! I always loved this song! I remember thinking, "Yeah, I could beat up that little kid at the end!" Now...if some could post the "You Can't Go Wrong By Eating Right" announcements from WTTG Channel 5, they'll be THE MAN!!!
I remember this when I was a kid in Annandale- and does anyone remember Captain 20 (as in channel 20)????? He was a kids show host between commercials and had pointy ears and a purple outfit??
Yes! I do remember Captain 20, especially his weekend horror movies... and all the Godzilla movies they used to show. Wow. Such memories. My favorite show was Lancelot Link (Secret Chimp!) that they used to show on Saturdays around 2pm...
Oh my gosh!! I totally remember this! My Dad took karate from him and I got to sit in Mr. Rees chair once in his office. =) Okay, "Boys Jordache jeans, $12.99 at Morton's!" Or how about this one...."At Sym's, an educated consumer is our best customer!" Or, the ones for Lincoln Institute Technology where the guy with the mustache says, "I'm makin' more now than fifteen years of the force." I'll be 36 this month and grew up in Fredericksburg, VA, which is one hour south of DC.
Anyone got the ad for the DC Metro that was around in the mid to late 80s where 2 kids are playing with toy cars in the midst of a traffic jam and to get out of this mess, one of the kids pulls out SUPERBUS (the Metrobus that flies!)
Does anybody remember a commercial that played in the DC Metro area in the late 70's/early 80's. It was for a a record store, and it showed a record player being smashed by two sledgehammers.
I, also, saw this commercial quite a bit in Newport News, Virginia in the mid 70's. Back in the early 90'd, I even stopped dating a girl when she told me that she'd never heard of this commercial...who needs that wide a social exerience gap!
This commercial played here in North Carolina too. I saw it a lot as a kid. I havent' seen it in years and still remembered the words when watch this LOL. Awesome.

OK, now if anyone finds anything from "Captain 20" or the horrible Redskins commercial with Joe Jacoby talking about how you can rent to own, my memories of growing up in Manassas would be complete.
Captain 20!!! I won a hand held Space Invaders game from Captain 20. I sent in a card saying Bugs Bunny was my favorite cartoon. Captain 20 read it on the air, spun his magic wheel, and Bugs Bunny came up...so I won! I still remember this.
it's no joke--I remember this commercial VERY well from growing up in the DC area--everyone would do the "nobody bothers me" and "nobody bothers me either (wink)" thing.
The black dude had a mullet...
