You play brilliantly, and with respect, to Johnny Cash. I mean no disrespect. I'm trying to make people smile. A time fro every season etc. My friend is a steel guiatr player. Gonna post you on my facebook page. DO take my video down, but have a wee laugh first. Seriously, no disrespect. I posted in haste re your excellent video.
Beautifully played, unique sound and hauntingly beautiful sound.........you are the best I have ever heard, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talent.
Hey Shakey1047.....Forgive those idiots who do not understand that a instrumental does not require the words and in many if not most cases speaks much louder than the words. Although I have only been playing steel for about 3 months under the excellent instruction of Joe Wright, I do know the real deal when I hear one and you are definatly the real deal. At 64, paralyzed from the waist down.....but with 40 yrs as a professional drummer....that I can only pray to be as good as you are.
@Shakey1047 ha ha ha smartone. i was really commenting in response to the people down there who said "Elvis Presley sang it the best" , "No, Johnny Cash" etc.
I love this song and have been singing it for over 40 years. Shakey1047, I hope you don't mind that I have borrowed your version as a backing track. You play so beautifully that I couldn't resist. Where are you? I live in UK. theonearmedbandit1 .
I sing this at karaoke and have been singing for over 20 years in public and I have never heard a more beautiful version. Thank you for the chance to hear it
Hi shakey, I live in the UK. I love Roberta Flack's version and then caught your's on YouTube. It is also very beautiful & I had to record with your's as a backing track. You can listen to it at theonearmedbandit1 along with a few of my other tracks. I do hope you approve, keep playing, love RED.
Dave, Great rendition of one of my favorite Gordon Lightfoot tunes. Could I ask you to do a few more of his songs? They all lend themselves so beautifully to steel.

hands down Leona Lewis sang this song the best, it takes a women to sing it cuz of the melody, most ment can't hit the notes.

You just showed me that the musician with the "touch" can make a steele guitar can produce emotions that rival THE HUMAN VOICE.

hey does anyone know where to get the instrumental song anywhere? Is it on one of Johnny Cash's Cds?

nice music! bravo!

I think Roberta Flack did a better job; I think it required a woman to sing it.
Woody263 3 years ago
Woody, the idea of this instrumental is to demonstrate the sound of the instrument. Vocals DO NOT feature in instrumentals.
Shakey1047 3 years ago 2
Of course, but that was not what I was discussing - I think you did a great job I was merely putting forward my view on voclalists. Tis all.
