If he is saved and understands what he is preaching then I don't have a problem with this. This kid has reached an age where he should understand the basics of Christianity and what he must do to be saved. Once saved he is free to preach as a lay person as long as the church body is in agreement on it. It sounds like he has knowledge that can only be obtained through the holy spirit. I was raised in a christian family, nothing was pushed upon me, and I went through all the normal experiences and temptations that one does as they grow. Living an unchristian life in my teenage years, I was doing all the wrong things, and was depressed. A part of me was empty.

I am an United Pentecostal Church Preacher I also have a speech impairment but GOD called me to preach at 13 yrs of age and HE told me that HE would be my tongue and that HE would speak for me. Now, you don't think that this kid came to his beliefs by doing that, do you? If I found out that his parents were secular, or of religion other than Christianity, I would have a lot more respect for such beliefs. I have been raised Christian myself, and it took me a lot of time and thought to get to beliefs I have now.

And religious beliefs do not seem to help in that respect anyway, prisons and gangs are filled with religious people. Can I suggest you research Hubble's law and you will find a lot of information to explain how and why the universe is expanding. And that is not an answer you can find in the bible. Scientifically there is sound information on how the universe began, all based on research, data, evidence and the testing of theory. Nowhere in the bible are there any theories than can be tested

For instance, in Daniel the Lord prophecied that in the last days many would travel to and fro and that human knowledge would increase, which CLEARLY supports your original statement that science is advancing. That does not support scientific evidence which has given an age to the universe of approximately 13.72 billion years and an age to Earth as approximately 4.55 billion years. Correct me if I'm wrong but the difference in ages seems like a pretty big contradiction? The bible does not quantify science.
@foxinexile Gods not limited by time. The bible says 1000 years are 1 day to God, It also says a lifetime on earth is a blink of an eye in heaven. So even if God WAS on our time, a 70yr lifetime x 5 blinks, would b 350yrs to HIM. That being said, The time-frame that’s used in the Bible didn’t exist until the Romans. There’s no record of time b4 that. It could have taken 550 bajillion(made-up) years, for the earth to form and the bible does not dispute that.

Words to keep in mind. Theory. Estimate. Uncertain. The scientific advances we’ve mad thus far only prove how miniscule our efforts are, and how much we really don’t know. And the bible doesn't only prophecy on natural science, the bible also foretold social issues that our society faces.

If in Genesis the six days of "creation" are not meant to be taken as six 24-hour periods (which I believe they are), how then do you tie this with Exodus 20:8-11 which states: "For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." So to prevent contradiction Genesis must mean 24hr periods.
@malfini1 First, the book of Genesis wasnt recorded as it happened. I'll say it again, God's NOT subject to hrs days or years, he didn't create time, it didn't exist when the earth was being formed. Time was created by man for our organization. The bible was inspired by God, but written by man. So whatever increments of time that are in the bible are not a direct scientific calculation, they are time frames configured by man for our perception, not God's, God's not subject to this earth.

If he is saved and understands what he is preaching then I don't have a problem with this. This kid has reached an age where he should understand the basics of Christianity and what he must do to be saved. Once saved he is free to preach as a lay person as long as the church body is in agreement on it. It sounds like he has knowledge that can only be obtained through the holy spirit. He must be saved but I am still not convinced. If he is God bless him. I would be shocked if he wasn't.

I am an United Pentecostal Church Preacher I also have a speech impairment but GOD called me to preach at 13 yrs of age and HE told me that HE would be my tongue and that HE would speak for me. Now, you don't think that this kid came to his beliefs by doing that, do you? If I found out that his parents were secular, or of religion other than Christianity, I would have a lot more respect for such beliefs. There's a very specific group-shared conclusion based on one common belief, with all the rules guidelines and "knowledge" to boot! There's even an intangible deity involved in atheism, un-belief! And I've yet to see evidence that God DOESNT exist, it has nothing to do with science, the bible doesn't conflict natural science, it supports it in many ways.

@jimbeezy07 No, if I practiced religion that would make me a christian. Or a moslem. Or a hindu. Or a sikh. As an atheist, I reject entirely the existence of any god; I do not believe a god was needed to create the universe and thus do not believe in god. Atheism is not just a rational understanding that no god(s) exist; it is also a rejection of the perversity of religion and all that comes with worshipping a fictional character. Atheism is not a practice, as you seem to misunderstand.

@foxinexile Our knowledge next to the expanding rate of the universe is like half a raindrop next to the Pacific Ocean. One who claims scientific knowledge of the vastness of outer-space but chooses NOT to acknowledge spiritual life beyond where our puny satellites can reach, is a foolish, small-minded person. What I find irrational is to actually believe we’re qualified to say there’s absolutely no God, based on our miniscule amount of earthly knowledge.

@jimbeezy07 Actually, our knowledge of the rate of expansion of the universe is good - and it has nothing to do with god! Can I suggest you research Hubble's law and you will find a lot of information to explain how and why the universe is expanding. And that is not an answer you can find in the bible. Scientifically there is sound information on how the universe began, all based on research, data, evidence and the testing of theory. Nowhere in the bible are there any theories than can be tested

@foxinexile I will reiterate my first statement. The bible DOES NOT contradict natural science. Actually, many of the theories that man have about the earth were mentioned in the bible. For instance, in Daniel the Lord prophecied that in the last days many would travel to and fro and that human knowledge would increase, which CLEARLY supports your original statement that science is advancing. The only difference is that God had spoke it 2000+ yrs ago. And we're just receiving the memo.

@jimbeezy07 Could you give me some examples regarding current scientific theories that mankind has that are mentioned in the bible? I thought the bible says the universe was created in 7 days? That does not support scientific evidence which has given an age to the universe of approximately 13.72 billion years and an age to Earth as approximately 4.55 billion years. Correct me if I'm wrong but the difference in ages seems like a pretty big contradiction? The bible does not quantify science.

@foxinexile Gods not limited by time. The bible says 1000 years are 1 day to God, It also says a lifetime on earth is a blink of an eye in heaven. So even if God WAS on our time, a 70yr lifetime x 5 blinks, would b 350yrs to HIM. That being said, The time-frame that’s used in the Bible didn’t exist until the Romans. There’s no record of time b4 that. It could have taken 550 bajillion(made-up) years, for the earth to form and the bible does not dispute that.

Scientists still aren’t certain exactly how long it took to form the earth. The Roman calender was based on phases of the moon, and day/night cycles and so on, but those things change SOOO rapidly. Words to keep in mind. Theory. Estimate. Uncertain. The scientific advances we’ve mad thus far only prove how miniscule our efforts are, and how much we really don’t know. And the bible doesn't only prophecy on natural science, the bible also foretold social issues that our society faces.

@jimbeezy07 By measuring the decay of uranium-238(U238) to lead-206(Pb206) found in meteorites collected on Earth, an age of 4.55 billions years is determined. This is the amount of time it takes half the U238 to decay into Pb206. When these samples have been analysed there is a 1:1 ratio of uranium and lead in them. Pb206 is stable and decays no further, thus giving us the age. Meteorite samples are miniscule remnants of matter left over from the creation of the solar system out of a nebula.

Out of interest - and I mean this as a genuine curiosity and not as trying to wind you up - if you believe in evolution, big bang theory etc, how do you balance this with a belief in a god? Do you believe that a god created the universe and all within it? And if so over what timescale? Or do you believe that science and god are entirely seperate entities, with a god having no influence over the universe per se, but acting more as an overseer of mankind? Just curious.

@foxinexile LOL, naw u cool, =). I'm not wound up, and I see ur viewpoint, I can tell ur intelligent and worth having a conversation with. God gave us the ability to think, he respects our choice to believe in him or not, so I respect ur opinion. I DO believe God intitially created the earth, But even b4 Adam sinned God had given man COMPLETE dominion and full control of the Earth. So I in turn seperate faith from the natural, I view THIS galaxy and everything it contains in relation to man.

@jimbeezy07 I hear your point but by your reckoning the bible must contradict itself then. If in Genesis the six days of "creation" are not meant to be taken as six 24-hour periods (which I believe they are), how then do you tie this with Exodus 20:8-11 which states: "For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." So to prevent contradiction Genesis must mean 24hr periods.

@malfini1 First, the book of Genesis wasnt recorded as it happened. I'll say it again, God's NOT subject to hrs days or years, he didn't create time, it didn't exist when the earth was being formed. Time was created by man for our organization. The bible was inspired by God, but written by man. So whatever increments of time that are in the bible are not a direct scientific calculation, they are time frames configured by man for our perception, not God's, God's not subject to this earth.

How could these things that were written thousands of years ago, coincide so neatly with the theories that mankind has just recently discovered?
