My next dream laptop..X300.. Rock SOlid laptop. :D. I attended the siminar last yr, X300 built base on Aircraft materials. Its much more solid then X200/X61. :) And i m a proud user of X40. been using it for 3yrs now and its warranty about to finish in September. :) I might be certainly settle for T series or another X series. :)
if i had to b/w this a macbook air i'd go with air just b/c i dont use a optical drive as much, i only use one USB out of abuot 4 at a time, i feel free with huge wireless capabilities, and it just looks better =) plus apple tells you the minimum battery life rather than the companies record high battery life
this notebook is much better than macbook air.. the macbook air doesnt have optical drive, only 1 usb 2.0 port, one audio out, and micro-dvi.. but this notebook has all the ports and connectivity you want on a notebook is all integrated.. this is an amazing notebook! but it costs $3000 just like the macbook air, if you want great design go for macbook air, if you want better connectivity and better usability go for a Thinkpad X300..
Yeah, that's the one thing that irks me about the X300. The HDD is Solid State, which is Flash, so it'll eventually fail, and you unfortunately can't put in a regular drive with bigger capacities. But other than that, I'd get the X300 easy... in about 3 years or so, when it'll be relatively cheap on Ebay.
there are many products on the market for very many different target markets. May be this one isn't for you. You can always buy a laptop without any os and do installations of anything you want on it. I see your point though, may be offer Ubuntu as an option but to expect a total deviation from the popular and mainstream os is not realistic. XP isn't really that bad. Don't think it is bc some people say so.
compatibility, vast amounts of software, greater deployment, pretty stable (i agree ubuntu is stable too, but xp isnt as bad as vista), more familiar, excellent business features etc etc etc!
Well, this is a great piece of technology, but why on Earth does Lenovo insist on preinstalling the inefficient Windows XP? Why not to offer it with Ubuntu as Dell does? That's very annoying.

Yes, but the X300 does squeeze out about 5 hours more than the Air.

I agree this comment.

yea I agree totally, but levono could've made it a little sleeker or give a larger disk drive choice.

this argument makes no sense at all. simply kick out xp. install ubuntu, go to lenovo website and get all your drivers. case closed!

And why doI have to pay for the XP operating system, if I don't wanna use it? Or do you think it is for free? You are a genius.
