This morning the weather was gloomy and so was I. A feeling of hard times ahead. This song made me think that sometimes we complain but, in one way or another, I guess we are all loved. The singer is great. Her performance is so natural and convincing!
I think it´s nice to be loved but also to say "I love you", even when our heart speaks without listening to common sense. That´s how I feel now. I need to say "I love you" to a friend who is far away...But how dramatic I sound! Haha! I´ll smile.
I was wrong- the album came out in '93- the album versions of these songs are much stronger, I will post it as soon as I can figure out how, I'm working on it now, please suscribe or check my channel for it-
this song was out at least ten years prior to this broadcast- next greatest songwriter? they need to get with the program(the press)- I'd hate for her to be dead before anyone finds out-I love her, met her, bought a second copy of her CD, and got her autograph on it-
There's been something about her songs that's been striking a chord somewhere down deep inside me now for more than two decades. Vic is an American treasure. This is the best thing I've found on youtube. Thanks for posting, and to Vic (and the folks she was working for) for leaving it up.
What a superb live production. What superb singing, songwriting, and even backup singing. Someone explain why, exactly, this artist is so unknown (relatively)?
Those are GREAT musicians! And, you know who that long-haired organ player is on the right side of the video? None other than THE DICK SIMS! Yep, Dick Sims of Eric Clapton 1970's road & session band! He was with Bob Seger from 1970-73, Clapton freom 1973-1979. Great guy. He lives here in Tulsa. Wonderful person.
hmm... I thought that was Rami Jaffee (of the Wallflowers, the Foo Fighters, and appears on boatloads of records). He played on "Loose" and toured with her around that time.
Not that it isn't a possibility that it is Dick Sims on this one though. It's hard to tell.
Vic rules, and for those of you that don't get it, well, all I can say is that's certainly nuthin' I'd want to admit. There is a reason why people who know music-- everyone from Eddie Vedder and Neil Young to Lou Reed-- consider Vic to be a national treasure. For my part, it just makes me feel good to know that there are people like Vic in this world. What an amazing talent.
so weird, she was married to my cousin Mark Olson for like ten years. he's like 25 yrs older than me. They got divorced recently and she really tore him a new one, emotionally.
This is not her best performance for sure. Her voice is much better than this. She seems a little off, but she really is very talented and I love her!!
My all time favorite song of hers. Thanks for posting! This is the kinda song that gets in your head and stays with you year after year. And the Neil Young comparison was spot-on. She should be much more famous than she is. I wish her the best of health and happiness.
"Jesus walked on the water, he turned the water into wine. He went down to the drunkards to tell them, 'Everything is fine'."
What a line. I only stumbled on her today, but I absolutely love her. Just heard another one here on youtube with her and Giant Sand. It's called "Wonder". Check it out.
Victoria is a brilliant songwriter, and also a wonderful and genuinely sweet human being. I've met her a few times, been able to hang out and eat dinner and she's that rarest of all things - a Christian who truly acts as Jesus would.
@kristiantheheathen Hey....several years ago, I had the opportunity to "experience" vicky in Philly....she is quirky, nutty and loads of fun.....I reccommend the album "Loose".....my favorite...enjoy it!

I'm a Neil Young fan and loved Victoria's 'crazy mary' back in 94. Had now idea till now though how great she is. It's the coolest to see a chick playin cool guitar and writing awesome songs of the calibre of Neil ! Wow .
Thank you so much for posting this. I've never been able to catch her live and she is one of my favorites. Yes, she does have MS gwony. I have no idea how she's doing but really, really wish her well.
Maybe the nicest woman in Rock. She came to play Lawrence, KS and took the time to talk to fans after the show. I couldn't but think how wonderful her soul was.

I love how she plays the solo, and sweetly smiles, with great satisfaction- and then the Black girl sings the next line, and Victoria just hums-

Keep her away from the guitar in the future. Sorry, but true.

SHE's AMAZING! I saw her with the Jayhawks at the 2000 woodstock reunion in Bethel. Definitely one of the best performances of the weekend.

I was reading something about Exene Cervenka tonight & saw Victoria's name referenced which led me here.
Heard this back when but never saw videos of her in performance .
This is amazing stuff!
What a great song!
What a cool Neil Young guitar bit and the dragging horns lines like outta the primo-era of The Band.
Thanks to the original poster!

My favorite of her albums is her debut, "Happy Come Home", mainly because it contains the song "Merry Go Round", my favorite of her songs.
