@galenator123 I don't undertand this point. AMD is no longer "cheaper". The only way AMD is cheaper is if you compare a processor by only the number of cores it has and completely disregard performance. I will conceed it may be of better value if your planning on running several VM or something. But for a gaming rig and general everyday use the 2500k is cheaper and faster. You can pair a $180 i5 with a cheap $100 and get 4.5ghz easy.

Install the 2 patches Microsoft released, and ignore the benchmarks some "review" sites do, because they show BIAS toward intel, that patch really work and the FX will perform better and will use the cores better, proven on my fx-8120, GA-990FX-UD3.

before it was a collection of peaks on idle, and single core apps, going from 1.4GHz to 4.1GHz, through out all the cores.

after the patch, idle stays at 1.4GHz, on single core only one core rises the speed and stays that way.

a great improvement.

@buzz9961 Well you're kinda right but not quite. The problem about the low scores (even lower than phenom ii x6 and x4) on benchmarks seems to be in Windows 7. It doesn't spread the work as it should because = the first thing in matter should be spreading the work across the four modules (you know each one in the bulldozer architecture has two cores) and from there - to the cores. But the Windows doesn't see modules, it sees 8 cores.

If we speak for gaming builds Phenom II x4 would do pretty enough as right now games are optimized for quad cores, they don't bother to use any more than 4 cores, so a quadcore with higher frequency is a better choice than 6 or 8 cores on lower frequency. In my case I find my Phenom II x2 555 BE to be the perfect one, since I unlocked its two dormant cores transforming it from x2 @3.2 to x4 @3.9 ghz... best bang for the buck!

I LOVE THIS....AMD comes out with BULLDOZER.... AMD FANS say they are upset about performance. INTEL FANS are laughing...and the highest end bulldozer the 8 core 8150 CPU is sold out just about everywhere. Retailers can't seem to keep the CPU in stock for very long. Selling like hot cakes. @MrGrakkus lol, you couldn't be further from the truth on that. I'm running an AMD phenom X2 quad core black edition (overclocked) its a great CPU when you look at the price to performance ratio.

Unfortunately I will not be upgrading to the bulldozer due to the fact that AMD promised us a revolutionary processor but actually delivered nothing more than a heap of junk. It can't even beat the performance on last generation processors but it costs the same amount!?

Doesn't Any one but me see the trend here? Sandy bridge has a GPU built in which aids in performance there are certain calculations better suited for a GPU. Now put a AMD GPU on a Bulldozer what do you get? I however think AMD is an ass for releasing this crap so late. @niwrem1 My thoughts exactly. Isn't it also possible that the benchmark software is also code-wise not ready to fully utilize AMD's new architecture? If anyone studied the PS3's history, it can be noted that developers struggled to get games running well with the processor because its architecture was vastly different(not bad) . This goes to show that old code with new hardware isn't always going to be a breeze. AMD have always built for the future. They were the first with 64bit as well.
