If Sonic Unleashed consisted of only Day stages, scratch Chip and the Werehog, THAT would be the comeback of Sonic. I have childhood memories of my first encounter with the Genesis, then the Dreamcast, after being hooked on Mario all those years. Those were the good times... but then came the era of sucky Sonic games. Just hearing this music was a breath of fresh air!

@TheRamenmouse Seriously, why the hell does everyone think Sonic Unleashed was a failure? There is nothin' wrong with it! And why are everyone complaining about the Werehog levels? I think they're very good for a change. After the day stages you usually get to play a Night stage 'cus they are alot slower and tests your platforming- and fighting skills rather than reflexes and movement. So could someone actually EXPLAIN why they don't like Sonic Unleashed?

@SonicFan535 Believe it or not, many people hate it because Sonic runs too fast or that X character is not playable. The same people complained before, that Sonic ran too slow and that there were too many characters in pre-Unleashed games. Werehog wasn't as bad as people say either.

Unleashed had everything a Sonic game should have, branching paths, speed, great soundtrack, straightforward gameplay... Sonic fanbase ought to finally make up their minds on what they want.

@TheRamenmouse Chip was just a decoration. Werehog stages were just as unnecessary as Big the Cat's, Knuckles' and E-102's stages were in Sonic Adventure. Consider this - does your concept of a perfect Sonic game include fishing, walking around slowly shooting stuff with a cannon and flying around wasting precious minutes on finding gems? Didn't think so. Unleashed isn't any worse than SA, it's just people who say so and others who blindly follow their opinion without giving the game a go.

@notyerbusiness SA has perfect controls/physics; Unleashed has unresponsive controls/cheap level design. You could spend 15 hours with Sonic in SA; finding everything, playing diffrent missions, score/time attacking. Tails is the same; Knuckles allows you to do basic exploration of the levels at a very fast pace (Knux was about exploring the levels by climbing/gliding even on the Genesis). It would be a complete game w/out the optional fluff; 80% of Unleashed is mandatory werehog filler.
