I've been to his modest sized house in Dharamsala and trust me when i say i have seen ordinary people with better houses than the one he lives in. The donations and money earned from businesses are invested into the tibetan community(e.g.. free schools, unviersity, and hospitals).

The Dalai Lama has always promoted non-violence in the Tibetan community much to the dismay of many younger Tibetans who would prefer a less non-violent alternative(something that's totally understandable considering non-violence hasn't helped the Tibetan cause at all). The only reason Tibetans haven't adopted the Palestinian model(meaning more militant) is thanks to the Dalai Lama who has always stressed for non-violence and compassion.

@michigofang - His income comes from donations as well as start up businesses owned by the tibetan govt in exile. I've been to his modest sized house in Dharamsala and trust me when i say i have seen ordinary people with better houses than the one he lives in. The donations and money earned from businesses are invested into the tibetan community(e.g.. free schools, unviersity, and hospitals).

The Dalai Lama has always promoted non-violence in the Tibetan community much to the dismay of many younger Tibetans who would prefer a less non-violent alternative(something that's totally understandable considering non-violence hasn't helped the Tibetan cause at all). The only reason Tibetans haven't adopted the Palestinian model(meaning more militant) is thanks to the Dalai Lama who has always stressed for non-violence and compassion.

Anyone can formulate an opinion on the matter-the very fact that you are anti-discussion only shows your narrow point of view in regard to human rights. And just for the record, Tibet was an independant nation until China invaded it in 1950. In fact, Tibet's territory used to include a large part of China.

Tibet became (de facto) independent in 1911 after the Manchu dynasty fell. But this independence was never accepted by either the Chinese governments that succeeded the Manchu or by Britain, India and the United States, the democracies with whom Tibet had the closest ties.
