this is hilarious, awesome, inspiring, a little bit nauseating, uplifting and soul crushing all at once. you guys are maybe my new heroes for the next week or so. i had a koala crap a rainbow in my brain when i checked out your "we came to overtake" track, also. i love you for your lofi tracker prowess and hate you for making it look so fukin easy. now i MUST find a tracker to start using again. how do you guys feel about buzz? i know it doesn't run on sick sounding obsolete computers but it worx
something like openmpt or milkytracker will work in windows and you can make the old tracker files. Or if you're insane try goat tracker. As i recall, Buzz is more synth based (if you want sound like buzz you should consider psycle, it's better IMO)
However if you really want chiptune sounds try openmpt, milky or goattracker (in order of increasing difficulty), and you can borrow chip samples from any songs that sound right.
I strongly recommend Jeskola Buzz... if you're not afraid to lose all your work all the time that is, because it crashes a lot :) And it's even more buggy in windows vista/7. However, I find it being the most flexible, logical tracker so far. And it's not limited to "synths", as markgobbin suggests. It even supports VST!
Thanks for the info everybody! I actually used to use Buzz when i was like 16 in high school. My bro is a comp.science type of guy and he ran it on his oldschool windows box, and he would let me use it. That was the only thing I could do with a computer for about 3 years actually-use buzz. I still love it and am not suprised you guys mentioned it. Its a shame that it is still a bitch to run properly. On another note, anybody see the "we came to overtake video?" that shit is pretty raw!
