  • wow...this video seems to advocate a lot of things that you 'should NOT do' to get healthy hair and keep it

  • Heres a good site for black womens hair blackhaircaremedia(dot)websitetoolbox(dot)com

  • oil is used to seal in the moisture... thats what she means.

  • horrible hair

  • is natural alone good for relaxed hair

  • lol, at so many um's!

  • Perms strip the outer layer in order to make it straighter. Also it's believed to be cancerous. Use natural oils instead of mineral oil and petroleum. Don't dye hair to lighten it, because they can bleaching products that strip hair.

    Use vegetable dyes and oils.

  • damn, she say UMM too much!

  • Don't grease your scalp with any mineral oil products!!! You can use coconut oil, jojoba oil, safflower oil, grape seed oil, natural oils. Don't use mineral oil/ parrafin anything on your scalp!! Its made from petroleum(gasoline) which is an industrial product and not good for your body, if you grease your scalp wit it, in melts into your pores.

  • african best relaxers dried and broke my hair. now i use olive oil organic relaxer and it works wonders. my hair is longer and much softer now

  • Its crazy how people say you shouldnt grease your hair, you should moisturize, but look at her hair its beautiful, I guess everything doesnt work for everybody

  • I was told by a professional that you grease the scalp. Not the hair looks like she did it right. Agreeing with you.

  • is vitamin E a good oil too? Cuz thats what i use

  • alot of your tips arent accurate,

  • Girl you is right!!! I went to studio 10 awhile ago and the stylist got to happy with the scissors and cut my hair short as halle berry look. You talking about someone mad.

  • people need to stop hating to each its own. if she wanna relax her hair that her damn business!!!

  • perming makes ur hair stronger? in wat wrord?

  • they're the same

  • people keep talkin bout oil and grease being different....whats the difference between oil and grease???!!!

  • grease contains petroleum which can and will clog pores. oils are natural and usually dont clog

  • oil has the ability to penetrate and moisturize the hair shaft, depending on what kind it is. olive oil, coconut oil, and almond oil are all really good. grease usually containd petroleum or mineral oil and just sits on top of your hair. it doesnt really have vitamins or do anything! it just smells good.

  • You said something along the lines of keeping your hair oiled to keep it from getting dry. I just want to point out that simply oiling your hair does not moisturize it at all. It's used to SEAL in leave in conditioners and lotions....

  • actually olive oil jojoba oil etc are good moisturizers. There's a difference between moisturizing and conditioning. BUT you're right conditioner left in is better for dryness

  • I agree with the hair cutting sissor happy thing...i went home with a bob when i wanted a trim! I only let my nan perm my hair. But I had my hair done at toni and guy....came out really nice and healthy looking plus they didnt cut off too much.

  • moisturizing is when you add a moisturize to your hair, like a leave in conditioner or hair moisturizing lotion so that your hair does not get dry and brittle, especially when using any type of heat on your hair, and oiling is when you put oil on your hair, oil does not add moisture, it helps to seal in any moisture you have

  • oil is good for the hair, but you can not forget moister, i moisturize and then seal with oil, but i never grease my hair

  • How long is ur hair now!!!! This is a year old!!!!

  • all relaxers use those "crazy chemicals." none are good for you

  • perms dont make your hair any stronger it actually makes the hair weaker. Hair is always healthiest in its natural state. If you have healthy hair its not from the perm its from taking care of your hair with other products like deep conditioning or protein treatments

  • may i ask how long your hair is please?

  • She can be all black and still have beautiful hair.

  • very true!!

  • its the rearranging of the sulfur bonds in your hair.

    your hair looks good.

  • I'm not even watching the whole video (lol) but when I went natural I learned a lot about things I was doing wrong with permed hair. Like stop using petroleum and mineral oil products. Look for gentler shampoos that won't dry your scalp out and hair growth isn't really about growing your hair faster but retaining your hair longer. That means breakage and split ends are your worst nightmare (lol). Good luck to any relaxed or natural ladies.

  • i agree beautyu2u. one of the most important things i realized since i've gone natural is that "natural" hair care isn't just for "natural hair," meaning, permed or not, we should all incorporate more natural/organic products into our hair regimen. i'm all about having the healthiest hair you can have, permed or not. however, i wouldn't go back to the perm because my natural hair is so much more fun! *S*

  • Ditto to all of that. I think I could do better with permed hair than I had before but I'm having fun with my natural hair (lol) It's unique and I like it.

  • The reason some may think their hair is stronger when they perm their hair is because to some people it is easier to take care of straighter hair and they'll put more effort into it as opposed to curly/kinky hair. So they take care of permed hair better than their curly/kinky hair.

  • With a perm, it basically breaks down the bonds that hold your hair together and give it shape, and then the neutralizer recreates those bonds. So like, its initially breaking your hair, which makes it extremlyyyyyyy weak, which is why you can only do it ever few months. It breaks off and its ew XD.

  • both my parents are black and i perm my hair every month. my hair isnt any weaker and it doesnt break off. my hair is actually long.

  • how much does it cost to perm yo hair every month??

  • i dont go to a shop to get it done. my mom does it. im not sure which kind she gets buy i'll ask her tomorrow and get back to you. but i do know she gets it from sally's beaty supply hair store.

  • you don't perm it every month unless u wanna loose it. You perm it every 2 months or less. A perm usually costs 5-8 dollars

  • if you go get it done professionally itll run you 60

    if not like 10

  • sorry if the "ums" got on your nerves..ehh...scratch that. i'm not sorry...but anyway people do say um a lot when they have a lot on their mind.

  • @XXxChristyGlamxXX calm down lol that gets on my nerves to but just relax and i really hate when people say like alot like did u like her like her like say like like umm and like she said umm ummm ummm.........i learned to deal with it but i told ppl instead of sayin umm or like just say it in ur head but i can relate to u anyway LIKE THE VID!

  • yea african american ahirs major dry im always useing pantene por-v relaxed and natural i noticed that after getting my hair relaxed the shampoo and condetior reducre alot of the gross curls how r u soppsted to like get ur hair stairt with that product. its reduces curls 4 me

  • um,um,um,um.....

  • Girl I feel you, salons do get scissor happy. You go to get a trim and they cut all your damn hair off...lol

  • u've been mis informed

  • you should try to use hair oils on your hair and not grease because grease clogs your pours and it makes it hard for your hair to grow because

  • organic relaxer?

    oxymoron.

  • i would like you to go natural, you'll look soooooooooo much better

  • i just went bak to a relaxer my hair was natural for about 5 months. i am also going to skool for cosmotology but it is also good to look for som help online. but i have to say that using a box relaxer isnt good i would get a PROFFESIONAL product try MIZANI thats what i used and my hair is smooth and really healthy

  • she said umm 33 times seriously!

  • lol...OMG...

  • you are mixed you shouldnt even be listening to her her tips shes not mixed ya digg!!!! and so what if she is or isnt camera shy ? whats ur business. Yes shes keeps on saying um um its called or filler. Words used to fill a sentence showing that she is thinking about what she is saying and what she will say next or dont they teach you English in ur school ?ur 14 youve got a lot to learn.

  • Thanks for the Tips

  • I bet you would look so pretty with your natural hair texture. You should transition. Relaxers are getting old and tiring. Plus they are not good for you. Your hair isn't even naturally straight. Wear your own texture for a change. Just try it. Your hair does not look all that healthy to me. Even though it's long it still would look 1000 times better in its natural state. By the way you are pretty.

  • I'm trying to grow my hair to my tailbone, I found a nice page for women of color and trust me, relaxing your hair is just as healthy as going natural. It's easier to manage and as long as when you relax you only touch up on the roots you won't damage your hair. I take a lot of vitamins and I make sure I keep my hair moisturized, and make sure I condition every week. I use Aphogee products and you are right about the salons cutting too much off, I'd rather do it at home.

  • can u give me the proof please?

  • love the word you used "can" cause cancer. Relaxed hair boring? lol hahaa relaxed hair doesnt look dead and boring you probably dont know how to take care of it and so revert to natural hair. alot of chemicals can cause cancer tell us something we dont know alot of other things can cause cancer too. If your going to make such statements please have your proof ready and your referrences if not shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! 7 pepole disagree with statemnt! take a hint.

  • Relaxed hair looks dull, limp, and lifeless. Like a wet noodle. Natural hair is vivacious, vibrant, and feisty. Also, it's actually alot easier to manage, being a permie you have to deal with thinning edges, broken ends, scalp burns, and stunted growth cause of all the irreversable damage. There is nothing good a perm can do for your hair, sorry.

  • DO you mean your relaxed hair looked dull lifeless and limp? Well mine doesnt and I know how to take care of it well you dont deal with stunted growth if you use castor oil on your hair maybe you did, and the damage is repairable. If you use the right hair care methods and products you hair will be healthy and strong. Dont start talking about stuff when you dont know everything it makes you look silly and also you start to mislead other people. I"wet like a noodle" righht sure.

  • ALL relaxed hair looks dull, lifeless and limp, that's the point of it being RELAXED. Yes, that included mine when it was manipulated with harsh, damaging chemicals. I use castor oil and other oils to lock in moisture on my natural hair. But obviously, you are the one who needs schooling in correct hair care methods if you think relaxing is good for you. I know what I'm talking about. The stuff in perms is the same stuff you clean your floors with. So retract the claws. Truth hurts.

  • You didnt need to tell me that I knew ur hating on relaxing hair it doesnt look dull like I said if looked after PROPERLY, which you obviously couldnt do, then it will shine and be strong and healthy not limp dull and lifeless. Honey your telling me I need schooling yet you couldnt look after you haitr thats why you felt you had to go natural cause it was too much stress rite, its not rocket science. Many women who relax have beautiful hair if you didnt too bad.

  • You assume way too much. I went natural not because I couldn't take care of my hair, but because I know it's not healthy and I don't need chemicals to be attractive or have nice hair. Perms break down the Peptide bonds in the hair leaving the hair strands WEAKER, not stronger. You can Google it to prove I'm not lying. I'm not hating, I'm spouting truth, something you obviously can't handle or else you wouldn't resort to personal attacks about my hair care skills [which are false anyway].

  • I'm not here to argue, sorry for not being the bigger woman and nipping this in the bud. But you have alot of misconceptions about hair relaxers. I implore you to realize there are better ways of achieving a beautiful, long lasting look. Why try to look like someone you are not? Pressing your hair every once in a while for a change in style is one thing, but not knowing how to take care of your natural hair is sad. What is wrong with your hair? Why can you not be beautiful without chemicals?

  • Youre not here to argue yet you replied my comment. Now youve changed it and I can see you have "self esteem issues" shame, Im not discussing natural hair you are, I was talking about relaxers. And were you not the one that said you had a relaxer before??? Dont be a hypocrite. Im in no way hating on natural hair. And ive not said anything bad about natural hair like your implying (woefully i might add) look at erykah badu shes beautiful natural hair is lovely. im no longer replying God bless u

  • I was trying to apologize and here you are still being a bitch! Damn! By saying perms are all that you are inversely saying natural hair isn't. And yes, I've had a perm, but I cut my hair off and have been growing it back natural, how is that being a hypocrite? I got my hair first permed when I was a child and had no control over my hair. You saying I had to "cheat" and go natural in order to take care of my hair shows your disdain for it. But whatever, think what you want. My head is still fab!

  • Okay now you called me a bitch ?Wow this one I have to reply. I can see you clearly dont understand simple English. How were you trying to appoligise?? Stop being confused and changing the subject look at the origin of this useless argument you made a comment about relaxers I made a counter one, yet your still ranting about natural hair and beauty ansyour head being fab??? Dont even try and make it a natural vs relaxed when thats not im chattin about. Its a shame your still confused .

  • How did I say you had to cheat stop implying rubbish when you are uttering irrelevant nonsense. You have failed. Talking about natural hair get back to the point that I made if you take care of relaxed hair it will be strong and healthy stop hating. Have I said a bad word against natural hair ? No, just about your inability to take care of relaxed hair. About your head is fab who said it wasnt I can go on and on keep writing rubbish and see what happens i do feel sorry for you though.

  • I thought you said you were no longer replying? And es, I said you're acting like a bitch because you completely blew off my apology-I said SORRY, but I completely take it back. I could take care of my hair just fine, fuck you very much. But I knew that perms are no good. It's obvious you have disdain for natural hair or else you wouldn't be kissing perms figurative asses. So take a chill pill why don't ya? Don't like what I say? DON'T RESPOND AND KEEP IT MOVIN'. :D

  • can i have the webpage for women of color please?

  • she must be talking about longhaircareforum. com

  • Thank you very much! you tips were very helpful and told me more than I know and insured me on what i already know.

  • I think it's great that in an age where weaves seem to be overly seen and used it's great to see a black women taking care of her own hair.

That said...it seems to me that you are like myself genetically inclined to have long hair. A good hair care regimen is one thing, but we all know that is not always enough. I don't perm my hair and I don't use pomades or oil only leave in conditions. What works for some doesn't work for all. Black women have many different hair types.

Your hair looks a hot mess!

How dare you try to tell someone how to take care of their hair when your hair looks a damn thin mess! And that broke out forehead looks a mess too!

I wish they would let me give your dumb ass comment a thumbs down. Her hair is a nice length longer than most blk women i see. It looks a little weighed down but overall her hair is beautiful.

  • Did you notice that sexymodelboy is a battyman. It says it on it's channel.

  • what hair old do you use? and what is your regimen, what do you do to your hair all the time to make it grow

  • Oil doesn't moisturize your hair.

  • no it dont ur rite

  • o well...when i use it, my hair isn't dry anymore, so.......

  • if old sotn moisture your hair, what dos?

  • You can use some leave in conditioners (like Elasta Qp, Neutrogena triple moisture) as daily moisturizers or a hair butter or lotion that doesn't have mineral oil or petrolatum in it.

I use a mix of vegeatable glycerin and water and then seal it with an oil- it's really helped my hair to not look so dry and dull.

  • @Redr0ses101 Yes it does!

  • @Redr0ses101 Yes it does

  • i think its the length that she is concentrating on the most. the camera dosnt always give a good idea of how something looks unless you have a really good movie camera, camera

  • what are you talkin about?

  • what do you mean?

  • this is my brothers account...but i have long relaxed hair and wen i had my hair in an afro...if was long as well..if u look after it..it shouldnt break

  • where can you find placenta at? just a hair store?

  • u've been mis informed

  • dats very tru

  • curly hair can grow long to dumbass

  • I also said the western european standard of beauty because blacks usually have curly kinky hair but yet we were are told that straightning our hair is ideal because it looks better and is "more manageable" Naturally our hair is beautiful and versitle, presentable, and relaxed hair has been a standard that was pushed upon us to mimic european straight hair.

  • omg thats such a bad habbit u have.. u say um every 5 minutes loL!! did u edit this?? u should of.. but overall good infromation though, my hair is shoulder length (almost armpit length) and i only trust my mom to relax my hair, your right about the hairdressers getting scissor happy i never go their.. i do my own braids myself as well..

  • um, um, um, um, um, um.......

  • Hey sayin um every sentence is so freakin annoying

  • ok when i will little i had long beautiful chinese black hair, but ever since i got my hair relaxed when i was little, my virgin hair depended on the chemicals and would break off if it didnt get its chemicals. your just better off with a good straighten and shampoo

  • Very true my hair is much much thicker and healthier now natural than relaxed when it was relaxed my hair was much thinner.

  • man yall sum hataz.

if u didnt like this video why bother watching the other one..

that just makes you look kinda dum and a WANNABE know it all.

  • Relaxing your hair is not safe, and also it is the Western European standard of beauty but if black women want to relax their hair will but in my oppinion it is not the best option to maintain their hair.

  • Yes I am black and I have natural curly kinky hair. I just believe relaxers arent the best for everyone. It wasnt for me and many women I see they have broken off strands all over because they relax their hair. The girl in this video has nice hair but most women who relax do not have those results. (I know I didnt and I took great care of my hair it broke off anyway so I went natural)

  • i agree, i looked at a pic of myself in grade 4, i was in grade 9 when i stopped, and it was still the same length! i'm natural now, and my hair is soo much stronger

  • I feel you my hair looked very healthy like the girl above then it got right past my shoulders and then it started to break off. My hair is soooo much stronger and thicker now.

  • And I feel so free now the other day I got caught in the rain and forgot my umbrella and had to walk across the parking lot to get to my car, but since I had no relaxer, my hair didnt go straight to he!! I just love my natural hair God gave me it's so unique and beautiful!

  • ..Oh okay i guess every1 believes in something different.

my hair is relaxed and is long like hers even though i'm mixed w/ another race.. but it does'nt i gess do the same for everyone.

  • Relaxers are simply reconstructing the bonds of the hair...

hair is hair and if relaxers trul ydont work for sum ppl, it is b/c they have some condition that makes the chemical structure of their hair diffent

maybe it was just donbe wrong (not to discredit ur comment) i just really believe with proper techinique/non-faulty products, relaxers can be done on 99.9999% of black hair

  • OILING/GREASING Does not really solve anything In fact it can lead to more breakage... but moisturizing and moisturizing products DO Help your hair with growth....Oil should only be used after you moisturize to seal in the moisture

  • I dont mean to sound mean, or condescending, but relaxed hair, isnt healthy hair. Yea its easier to manage, but I've had my hair professionally permed for 10 years like you, and it actually started falling out. No exaggeration. I finally cut it, and let it grow natural, and its the most fantastic decision ive ever made. Im even able to flat iron it and it looks awesome.

  • what do you do after you perm your hair and it tends to get dry?

  • that's a dorm room right?

  • haha my hair is longer than yours!!

jk jk your really pretty btw

  • i died my hair and you said it makes it weaker what can i do to gain back hair strength and are perms okay

  • scissor happy lol true

  • what woould you use in your hair to make it smooth and soft like so it wnt break.

your hair is really pretty btw

  • does your hair have to be long to perm your hair

or it can be like normal hair

  • Your hair doesn't have to be long to get a perm. You just have to make sure you have enough new growth, so that the perm won't overlap on your already relaxed (processed) ends.

  • If you want tips for improving the actual health of your hair as well as styling tips go to healthytexturesdotcom :)

  • You can get cancer from anything, just use what makes your hair look best and dont worry about it. You can get cancer from breathing air everyday. are you gonna stop breathing?

  • the placenta conditioner has been linked to cancer. please look this up.

  • She is 20 years old ya'll. Give it a rest!

  • girl dont trip of the hate, their hair will probably all fall out one day! LOL

  • lol, if it's not already

  • google LHCF

  • i did make this video after a long day of wearing my hair in a tight ponytail...

  • your hair doesn't look much thicker!!Weighed down or not.Don't be in such a hurry to down others.

  • My comment below go's to "myronnie" not you video poster :)

  • for REAL hair care tips, google LHCF

  • why do you "um" every other word? damn that's irritating. otherwise, nice vid.

  • idk, it's a habit, but i guess i have alot on my mind.

  • Your hair is about the same thickness based on your siggy pic on the board.

  • sorry, but my hair is far, far, FAR from thin.

  • umm do u trim ur hair regularly

  • no...i trim it when my mom makes me, lol...i hate trimming my hair

  • u shouldd definetely try the Organic Olive Oil Relaxer by Organic Root Stimulator

  • yea i used to use that

  • are you a member of blackhairmedia forums? if not you should check it out

  • what do you do weekly to your hair?

  • ut do u do to ur hair when u just wash it? do u do the creme of nature and placenta thing?

  • ur hair is gorgeous!! I have so much hair I do not no what to do with it! When you wash ur hair every week to 2 weeks, do you do the same regime?

  • thx...but pretty much, yeah

  • your hair is pretty. but do you ever consider going natural?

  • Wait, u said you use more and and a deep conditioner RIGHT AFTER your relaxer, I have never heard of that before. I should try that!!! you have beautiful hair, how long was your hair before you started growing it out?

  • lol, i meant more shampoo

  • I heard that you are supposed to condition your hair before you neutralize your hair right after you've relaxed your hair.

This puts the moisture back into the hair before you close the cuticles with the neutralizing shampoo. Some relaxers (if you are using a tub) it says to do that in the instructions.

  • Hey. This

    is kendra.

    Ur biggest fan

    on youtube.

Can you do a video on

how u curl your hair lyke that.

    I would really appreciate it!!

    please -n- thank you.

  • your hair is really pretty

  • thanks

  • I find with my relaxers my hair breaks less than when I was natural. Its the hair texture that causes breakage as well. I have thick coarse zig zag patterns which is the weakest pattern, thus when I relaxed my hair it had less breaking points in it.

  • yea i dont remember my hair breaking before i got it relaxed cuz my mom used to do it...and it especially stopped breaking alot when i started drying it with a barrel brush like in the salons, instead of using a blowdryer comb.

  • this is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. Your natural hair was breaking because you didn't know how to take care of it. Common sense says that hair that has not been treated with chemicals is stronger than hair that has been treated with chemicals.

  • Healthier, yes, but the truth is curly natural hair has more breaking points. Also, if the hair is not over relaxed it can lessen these very defined breaking points by straightening the hair, thus causing less breakage for a FEW with thick resistant hair this might be the case as it was for me. I have been natural for many years and then switched to relaxers and I find my hair breaks less. My natural hair looked great but it did shed more; It was healthier but not stronger which IS possi
