I suggest you build yourself a Multichannel compressor setup in Reason, to be able to lay down different compression and EQ on low/mid/high. As others have said before, it's way too compressed as it is now, the drums are drowning everything else out because of the compression. Overall guitar arrangement is cool, though the drum patterns are not that interesting.
better timing is needed. when i hear a song, i know how fast my foot should be tapping... or just when to tap in general. I THINK that every time you hear that top hat in the beginning, there should be another instrument to go along with it, like the guitar; but that's just me
wich audio interface- relitively low priced (£100) works well for Reason 5 with a Macbook Pro? i hear the Tascam 122 (is that the right name of it?) has issues with Macbooks.
@FuturedaveyP - Line 6 are great, especially if you're going to record either guitars or vocals as they come with lots of very good presets for the money. They also integrate into the rack as the rack has line 6 modules.
@tube4andy i'll look into that. just wondering where to get started with Record and Reason 5. I keep getting sidetracked by ipad music apps. I have that Sunvox for the ipad and also found a free mac download for it. Cant figure it out though.
With regards to Reason, i have the version Reason 5 and Record duo pack. im told you only have to open record. i just want to get going on the basics, trying to find the best tutorial video to get me going. Any advice?
its got some good ideas, personally i think mainly the levels need sortin out along with the guitar tone, because for me it seems asthough the tone dulls down the accents in the song n makes it seem less "fitting" with the drums and everything else. drums arent toooooo bad but i kno what its like trying to get a decent metal kit on reason xD but all in all i think its good 4 what it is :)
WOW that really is cool. i have been using reason propellerhead for maybe a yr or so now. and im getting reason record n the mail SOON!!! i cannot wait!!!
i really like what u did with the drums. my opinion is that for metal that is the sound sound want to be similar to for the drums... WERE THOSE DRUM SAMPLES ALREADY IN THERE? or did you snatch the samples from elsewhere? or maybe they are not samples, maybe it is live drums ??? whatev the case i am inspired and loved every dang second of it
as a Reason record user that was sweet dude love this programs over anything their is on the market,... Keep up the good work sounds good at this end,...

Somehow when I select a amp from my Line 6 toneport it sounds different when recorded. The recorded result always has alot of treble it seems, and I want it to sound a little more 'meatier'. Does anyone have any tips?
@Agentbromsnor If it has too much treble a little eq goes along way, a quick tip to make a guitar track meatier is to double it up (that is, record the same thing twice, not copy and paste! actually play it twice) then pan the tracks left and right for a big stereo sound :] hopefully that helps at least little
@guitarfag I toyed around with the EQ in Gearbox (I have a Line 6 TonePort UX2) and it sounds alot better already! I'm gonna try recording twice soon, see if that helps too! Thanks for the help.
For me, the drop in first one ear and then the other was a little disconcerting. I thought that my headphones went out or I pulled out the plug or something.
The routing in and out of several amps was interesting.
Metal is not my preferred genre so I am not qualified to judge the musicality of the tune. I liked the production. It did not seem "over produced" because your use of effects was tasteful and to the point.
@dekkuhr i used free screen recorder then combined the video i got from free screen recorder with the exported song in windows movie maker. When i uploaded it I lost alot of quality too...
I honestly think the beginning double bass is too much... Maybe too steady. I mean if there was more or a groove to it it would sound better. The length of it is ok but it just is kind of blah.... But After that when the song kicks in it's sounds better. You honestly did a good job doing metal with record! It must hove took some time to do!
Pretty cool overall, I'v only just started using Record and Reason in the last 2 weeks so I'm still trying to get my head around it......My question - How do you get that kick sound? I can't find anything so clicky
its all just a redrum patch, click the folder on the front of the redrum> on the left, click reason factory sound bank> redrum kits> rock kits> groovemaster 4
Nice to hear something other than techno and hip-hop using the Props..
Pros: good metal guitar chops, good guitar tone.
Cons: that drum intro cool but is WAY too long, 8 bars tops and then BOOM, the beat should start. Also, that double pedal kick thing is too much in the end section. Finally, try to pull back the reverb on the guitars, they tend to swim too much.
@fmarkow ah thanks for the advice i need as much opinion as i can get, i'm ganna be uploading another song pretty soon that i took my time on and now that i fully understand the program, should be good :]
Sounds pretty good but intro a bit long. Put some vocals on it and make a big lead guitar part

If I could be constructive--the track is too compressed and lacks a focused arrangement. You gotta let the song breathe a bit man.

So is that a tone you made with the Line6 plug in that comes with RECORD? When I watch other demos it doesn't look like it has any metal tones.

@frankiebaby111 everything in this song is reason/record, the line six tones is all stock RECORD.

why do people love the speed of a triple pedal?
even my classmate on music tech loves to do it even though it's like a miracle to do..
you should be realistic..,
we should all be.,
that's my opinion..,
P.S.
I really like the sound and the adrenaline rush that a triple pedal has to offer..,
but too much of it and it could ruin a very good song..
and please don't judge me,.
I am just giving my opinion..
