@unholygeneration I'm REALLY not expecting good things. Mostly, my concern is out of skepticism that Ninja Theory can make a good game at all. Enslaved was mediocre, Heavenly Sword was outright awful. Their sense of structure and focus is really poor, and I fear the platforming segments are going to drag the game back a lot for the sake of their self-indulgence with cinematic effects. Feel free to disagree with me, but... then again, how compelling can a half-demon, half-angel Dante be?
Dante's really a goofy, cocky, hotheaded lovable guy. He was quite a bit more serious in DMC1, but that's probably because he knew he was close to avenging his mother. He must have really loved her, the poor guy.
Man when I hear the first part of the song I know it's game time... Yea Dante is a bit... hmmm off, from the last game but he retains most of his attitude and that's why we all play DMC. Beside this is kinda more centered around Nero and that kid has a lot of potential, if he could change weapons I think he would succeed Dante perfectly... as long as he puts more training to his attitude that is :D

@LordKamina2 I would be pissed,but that is not the point.The point is that dmc3 Dante only thinks about partying,and all he can say is woooooohuuuuu.The only smart thing he said in the entire dmc3 was "easy Fido" to Cerberus.Dmc4 Dante knows that the world is fucked up even without all the demons.And instead of kicking Nero's little bitch ass he helps him understand that the world doesn't revolve around him and his girlfriend.He actually helps people by giving them advice and hope.
it's not a reboot they are taking a break they will return to the original series but after there done with there spinoff. I like all the DMC games why all the bitching of which is better.
@diktusa imo the Dante I grew to like in 1 was nothing like the Dante in 3 which most people fell in love with.
In DMC1 he had some occasional elements of being a bit of a jerk but overall he was far more than someone who says funny things and acts like he don't give a crap. He was deep, human and courageous
It seems after the overblown reaction DMC2 had they violently backpedaled on Dante and removed all those elements leaving only a kid who does nothing but tell jokes and take the piss.

Even if it is an origin story and this being the human half of Dante before he undertook his demonic transformation there's a lot of shit missing.
1) He's half Angel/half demon---where is his human half?
2) His hair might be dyed black, but WTF happened to his mother's amulet.

I just wish DMC5 continued the story of Nero. There are so many unanswered questions. Is Vergil Nero's father? Where did the Devil Arm come from? Looks like we'll never know.
@daricsoldar I think we will, but just not in the next game because its a prequel. Nero does carry the blood of sparda and has Yammato. So that makes him a important character in DmC games to come.

Nero got attacked some weeks before DMC4 begins. A demon scratches his arm. Therer is a hint given in the game to it: "But you aren't yet recovered." Kyrië says it in the cutscene where Credo sends Nero to chase Dante.
@Kityraz Yes, but how is the Devil Bringer is connected to Vergil? The Devil Bringer made the Yamato whole, which Agnus couldn't do. Also, when he hits Devil Trigger, the specter of Nelo Angelo appears. So is the Devil Bringer a part of Nelo Angelo's armor, like all the soldiers who Agnus created? Or is it the soul of Vergil attached to his arm? Or if Nero is Vergil's son, is it just his demonic blood being awakened? We really have no idea what the Devil Bringer is....
I've played all the DMC series, starting with 2, then 1, 3 and then 4. I have to say at first I really was really meh on DMC 4 and very much Anti Nero before the start of the game. But later on I found that I enjoyed the game and Nero, hes very human in the sense that hes just a 'simple' man trying to protect the woman he loves. This series will always have my support. And like many fans I think that DMC5 looks like O.o but Im willing to give it a shot.

I was also quite sceptic concerning Nero, but now I like him and the way he fights. I'm looking forward to the 5th part, even though I first was shocked when I saw the new Dante. It's good for it's own story and not connected to the main story. All of that beside the gameplay looks pretty good though it is similar to how Nero fights with the devil bringer.

I finally have this game (finally), it's good, BUT... the camera angles are a bit annoying, like, when you enter a doorway with the camera behind you back,it'll switch to in front , which cocks up your movement, and you end up stuck for ages trying to go through a doorway, UGH!

@Balnazzardi I think it all comes down to greed tbh. Now that gaming has become more of a mainstream form of media. Capcom (not that they weren't always like this to a certain extent) are now totally caught up in numbers and where the market is going. Unless the DMC fanbase is larger than any casual western market they can to appeal to they aren't going to give a shit about what the fanbase wants.
I think they just didn't like the numbers and wanted to make them bigger and it backfired.
@Balnazzardi I advise you, even though the game is old, you REALLY should play Devil May Cry 3. The first one I ever played was #4 too and I thought it was awesome, yes. But #3... Oh gawd... Such a good game!!! :D There's a PC version if your PC is up to scratch and you don't have a PS2. Honestly. You can pick it up ridiculously cheap now and it's worth every penny. Loved it so much more than #4, it's less emo-ish. There's no Nero, you get to know the past of Dante!! And it's just epic. :3
@YxFLETCHxY Well there is actually DMC HD Collection coming up (if it hasnt already ;D)...it has the first 3 games with sharper textures, so maybe one day I'll pick that up....right now Im busy with other games, especially Skyrim and in December with The Old Republic :P. @diktusa imo the Dante I grew to like in 1 was nothing like the Dante in 3 which most people fell in love with.
In DMC1 he had some occasional elements of being a bit of a jerk but overall he was far more than someone who says funny things and acts like he don't give a crap. He was deep, human and courageous
It seems after the overblown reaction DMC2 had they violently backpedaled on Dante and removed all those elements leaving only a kid who does nothing but tell jokes and take the piss.

@darthkahn45 well not everyone gets more deep as they get older. in 4 maybe he started getting over stuff. and i think they mixed the two for the 4th. he acts like he did in 3 but he does care in 4 and he is kinda deep wen u think about it. he is doin all this shit to keep his brother's(who he "hates") sword in the family and help nero grow. he is deep in a fun way. well atleast that is what i personally believe

as dante but this time backwards then you fight a big statue and then after that your in it as nero you have to refight each boss again for a grand total of 3 times... sure was great wasnt it? was the 3rd game just as bad as the 4th? havnt tried it

Gameplay, yes it looks awesome, but we DMC fans are not used to change especially when it comes at the expensive of our favorite demon hunters FACE!! TT_TT
Even if it is an origin story and this being the human half of Dante before he undertook his demonic transformation there's a lot of shit missing.
1) He's half Angel/half demon---where is his human half?
2) His hair might be dyed black, but WTF happened to his mother's amulet.

I just wish DMC5 continued the story of Nero. There are so many unanswered questions. Is Vergil Nero's father? Where did the Devil Arm come from? Looks like we'll never know.

@daricsoldar I think we will, but just not in the next game because its a prequel. Nero does carry the blood of sparda and has Yammato. So that makes him a important character in DmC games to come.

Nero got attacked some weeks before DMC4 begins. A demon scratches his arm. Therer is a hint given in the game to it: "But you aren't yet recovered." Kyrië says it in the cutscene where Credo sends Nero to chase Dante.

@Kityraz Yes, but how is the Devil Bringer is connected to Vergil? The Devil Bringer made the Yamato whole, which Agnus couldn't do. Also, when he hits Devil Trigger, the specter of Nelo Angelo appears. So is the Devil Bringer a part of Nelo Angelo's armor, like all the soldiers who Agnus created? Or is it the soul of Vergil attached to his arm? Or if Nero is Vergil's son, is it just his demonic blood being awakened? We really have no idea what the Devil Bringer is....

I've played all the DMC series, starting with 2, then 1, 3 and then 4. I have to say at first I really was really meh on DMC 4 and very much Anti Nero before the start of the game. But later on I found that I enjoyed the game and Nero, hes very human in the sense that hes just a 'simple' man trying to protect the woman he loves. This series will always have my support. And like many fans I think that DMC5 looks like O.o but Im willing to give it a shot.

@Ruse07 Exactly what I thought. I only played DMC3 at a friend and loved it so much that I wanted to have DMC4 for christmas. I was also quite sceptic concerning Nero, but now I like him and the way he fights. I'm looking forward to the 5th part, even though I first was shocked when I saw the new Dante. I mean, I read a comment saying that everyone has to go through puberty, even Dante, but in my opinion they should've left at least his haircolour as it was. ^_^"

@darthkahn45 It is a reboot. It's supposed to have absolutely nothing to do with the original series. It's kind of like when a movie adaptation is made. It's good for it's own story and not connected to the main story. All of that beside the gameplay looks pretty good though it is similar to how Nero fights with the devil bringer.

I finally have this game (finally), it's good, BUT... the camera angles are a bit annoying, like, when you enter a doorway with the camera behind you back,it'll switch to in front , which cocks up your movement, and you end up stuck for ages trying to go through a doorway, UGH!

I never played Devil May Cry games before the 4th one, and I loved it!....I was looking forward to see how DMC5 would look like, but FUCKING CAPCOM not only decided to reboot the series, but also give the project to Ninja Theory, instead of doing it themselves, and the younger Dante looks like fucking emo!...
Seriously first Capcom gave Dead Rising 2 to western developer and now Devil May Cry....dont they have the courage and fate in themselves anymore to do these games or what?

@Balnazzardi I think it all comes down to greed tbh. Now that gaming has become more of a mainstream form of media. Capcom (not that they weren't always like this to a certain extent) are now totally caught up in numbers and where the market is going. Unless the DMC fanbase is larger than any casual western market they can to appeal to they aren't going to give a shit about what the fanbase wants.
I think they just didn't like the numbers and wanted to make them bigger and it backfired.

@Balnazzardi I advise you, even though the game is old, you REALLY should play Devil May Cry 3. The first one I ever played was #4 too and I thought it was awesome, yes. But #3... Oh gawd... Such a good game!!! :D There's a PC version if your PC is up to scratch and you don't have a PS2. Honestly. You can pick it up ridiculously cheap now and it's worth every penny. Loved it so much more than #4, it's less emo-ish. There's no Nero, you get to know the past of Dante!! And it's just epic. :3

@YxFLETCHxY Well there is actually DMC HD Collection coming up (if it hasnt already ;D)...it has the first 3 games with sharper textures, so maybe one day I'll pick that up....right now Im busy with other games, especially Skyrim and in December with The Old Republic :P. @Balnazzardi Loving Skyrim too at the minute. And yeah, the HD collection is going to be released sometime 2012. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting it, but I still have a lot of love for the original.
