It doesn't menace humans. I have seen two cicada killer wasps (impressive size) fighting at the edge of a sidewalk as I was getting to the bus. Several dens of said insects were hard by. I did not see the finish of the fight as I HAD to get to the bus-stop before the bus came. What the two were fighting over, I've no idea -one caught raiding the den of the other ?

@swifti1001 Insects evolved like any other animal (yes they are animals), they take advantage of resources and energy sources nearby to live and reproduce. Whales wouldn't exist if some mammals didn't return to the ocean, and insects wouldn't exist if all kinds of small plant and animal life was everywhere for them to consume. Just because they look different doesn't make them special.

@swifti1001 They eat detritus and tons of other smaller organisms and rotting matter that would otherwise take a really long time to decompose. They serve a huge ecological purpose. Look it up on wikipedia if you really want to know "why".
