It is a totally criminal and illegitimate, that /thing/ that presumes to name itself a government. Bernanke should have been arrested, held in jail while he was being prosecuted, long ago. The depth of depravity is highlighted, by his reconfirmation. There is no low, to where these sick-O creatures will not sink.
What kind of a fucked up title is this??? Bernie Sanders is GREAT! Is iwontsellout a SELL-OUT to the right-wing corporatism he supposedly hates? A tea-bagger?
Did he really Senator Dodd is the one fighting the reduce the Fed's power the most? how about RON PAUL! For 35 years Dr. Paul has been trying to stop the Fed from destroying this nation. Dodd is a tool designed to make it appear like congress is watching out for us.
they should take the money in the federal reserve and start paying off all of our bills in this country and remove us from the debtors column among the sovern nations,we now are owned by china for one and are running on fiat money, its time to turn this contry around-they need to pull their heads out of their arse
Auditing the Fed is the first step because it brings more public awareness to the existence of that institution and what it does. If people knew where there money was going you can imagine the public outrage...but yeah, the Fed never should have existed in the first place.
You obviously have never talked to a socialist. They moan about their miserable lives even more than you. Corruption under socialism is also just as bad, if not worse than the US.
Bernanke stated that the United States hasn't seen a nation wide devaluation of the housing market. I guess he failed to read recent history, like from the 1970's when the housing market as a whole took a huge dive. That is why we had a major recession back then.
@job3724: you correctly pointed to Bernankes lie. The most recent housing slump was 20 years ago, when prices went down across the entire US and as much as 50% in some places. However, Decline in housing prices is a good thing, however, as such decline eliminates excessive debt, thus paving the way to a stronger recovery. Unfortunately, the recent government bailout policies have harmed future growth by preserving the debt burden.
i think its the wrong arguement they should put greenspan and beryanke on trial for treason they should be faceing 100 years in prison america is going to go into hyperinflation bankers scum and goverment gone mad should be the next show but dont worry that show you will see one day jobs jobs jobs coruption these words ring today like the start spangeld banner uenployment down what a joke ha ha ha
I am no fan of Bernanke and the Fed, but would take them any day over the socialist from Vermont. It is exactly the policies and ideology of his type that resulted in a gradual erosion of American strength and living standards. Who started the sub-prime fiasco by forcing banks to make reckless loans? And today they criticize the Fed for not doing the same thing. If these damagogues take control of the money supply, say bye-bye to the dollar.
@MrPoliticon What color is the atmosphere in your world? A Senator from Vermont has had NOTHING to do with the banks lending practices. "Credit" for that belongs to the likes of Hank Paulson and Alan Greenspan. The people who gutted Glass-Steagall "own" this crisis. Bernanke KNEW what was going to happen. Bernanke, like Greenspan and Paulson, etc. serves with fanatic loyalty to his masters: the banks of Wall Street. This is treason.
@Paolo7219: A senator from VT has nothing to do with the banks lending practices? What about senator from CT, or congressman from MA? Ever heard of the CRA? Perhaps Sanders was not involved, but now he is demanding that banks charge lower interest rates on credit cards or give out more loans. Isn't it banks business or the senator's from VT? God forbid Congress gets it hands on the printing press. At least the Fed does not want the $ to collapse. As to the WS bailout, it is more complicated.
@MrPoliticon Joe Lieberman? TOTALLY owned by the health insurance industry. Sen. Chris Dodd? Owned by the WS banks, yes. Barney Frank? Yes, owned by the banks, in all likelihood. You can't blame Sanders for that. Frank is an interesting case to follow. Frank can't be OVERTLY partisan for the banks because he chairs a committee, but when it comes to brass tacks, I think Frank will favor the WS banks. WS bailout? China is putting the squeeze on the WS banks for their money, that's what's happening
@Paolo7219: My atmosphere is colorless :-) The sub-prime crisis has more to do with the CRA and political pressure on the banks to relax lending standards, than with the Glass-Steagall. The main problem with the Fed is that it is susceptible to the politicians interference, which always leans towards the debasement of currency. The act that should be repealed is Humphrey-Hawkins; that would restore our monetary sanity right away.
"Who started the sub-prime fiasco" Mr. Bill Clinton did when he repealed the Glass Steagall Act. I'm not sure who the socialist from Vermont is but ever since the Fed's inception in 1913 the dollar has lost 95% of its value. This inflation (dollar debasement) has enslaved the American people, the banksters own us. So bye-bye dollar has been happening for almost a 100 years.
The socialist from Vermont is Sanders. His beef with the Fed is not the same as mine (and probably yours). He wants an even laxer monetary policy. Now, the dollar debasement in itself is not a problem. Sure, a 100 dollar bill in 1913 is worth 5 today, but if you invested it conservatively at about 6% yearly, it would be 33,000 now - still a good amount, even in debased currency. Also, it is not clear that Glass-Steagall repeal contributed to the crisis. Other countries never had it and did OK,
I think we see "eye to eye" on some issues. When you get a chance watch PBS Frontline "The Warning". A well done document on Bill Clinton and Glass Steagall.
Keep in mind if dollar debasement (aka inflation) did not exist, many of us would own our homes, cars, and whatever else instead of being a slave to the money.
Has anyone actual considered that "they" want the Fed to be abolished because it has served its purpose. Under a true global consolidation of power individual national central banks are mute point and the antithesis of what there ultimate goal is. It was just a means to an end. Nothing that the Fed has done is thorugh incompetence but by design....
Sanders is one of the three honest and true Americans left in government. End the Fed, replace the Federal Reserve Notes with Treasury Notes as the Constitution specifies, stop printing money for the financial industry, audit the Fed to find out where trillions of $ have gone and arrest ALL involved.
@kenjams it would be the first step of many my friend. However one must, as ron paul puts it, change the government's philosophy of administration, economics and foreign policy ;)
I really like this Dylan guy on MSNBC. Two days now I have seen two videos of him against the "federal" reserve. Great. END The FED! Say NO To Bernanke's approval. Call your local Senator today - in California - BOXER: (202) 224-3553 - FIENSTEIN: (202) 224-3841 - WAXMAN:
I love the way the very SAME people, like Bernanke, who caused these problems are the ones we ask for advice on how to solve the crisis!! WHY?? 2004: the FBI warned of the coming housing crisis. Bush, obsessed with helping the very wealthy, did NOTHING. Fiat money is not the problem per se. The PEOPLE who are printing this money are the problem. Time to END the Fed! The rich have declared WAR on the Middle Class. Time to fight back.
Be aware Americans, that the $- Index is collapsing. Everyday American wealth is being destroyed. Forever. Wall Street is a money graveyard for foreigners- noone invests in the USA anymore. Trashuries are a no-go area.
Don't loose any more time or your currency first, afterwards your personal liberty is destroyed. Forever....
I pray for all of you and hope those criminals who really rule you will be taken to responsibility soon.
The only "American wealth" that is being destroyed is the motivation people have to work and improve their own lives. Stop sitting around moaning about the end of the financial world. Pick yourself up and do something productive. The pity party is over.
OMFG!!!! This is on the fringe media!! Either the tide is changing or we no longer are the fringe anymore! I have just viewed thru the looking glass. I have seen the edge of the abyss. This is a milestone! Like Midway, this is the turning point. This is historic. Even if Bernanke is re-instated, the damage is done. This is the beginning of the end. I dont know how many more cliches I can come up with.
If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." Thomas Jefferson, Letter to Treasury Secretary Albert Gallatin (1802)
With the exception only of the period of the gold standard, all governments of history have used their exclusive power to issue paper to defraud and plunder the people. Friedrich Von Hayek
Dickens wrote: "Credit is a system whereby a person who can't pay gets another person who can't pay to guarantee that he can pay."
Paper money is poverty, it is only the ghost of money, and not money itself." Thomas Jefferson to Edward Carrington, 1788
Just a reminder: Paper money used to be called a "promissory note," i.e. a promise to repay a debt. There is no "money." There is only the promise to repay a debt with other goods or services. The currency is simply a universally recognized "IOU." If you have reached the point where you can no longer trust doing business with anyone, then it is time to go live in a monastery.
As the economist Dr. Stuart Crane was fond of saying, Things in the monetary world dont just happen to happen. They happen because they were planned to happen.
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. Already they have raised up a monied aristocracy that has set the government at defiance. The issuing power of money should be taken away from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs. Thomas Jefferson 1743-1826 3rd
