SLAM soundtrack. It came out in '98

  • I used to watch a lot of Music TV when I was a kid, and I must admit I've never seen this video or version of the song before.

MTV and Much Music betrayed us!!

Britney can get her song played 50 times a day twice an hour, but this song gets totally ignored.. c'est la vie

  • @InsideRxBandit thats almost true cuz i heard it on mtv like maybe 3-4 times when this movie came out. i bought the soundtrack just for this song after i seen the video. i used to take this cd eveytime me and my homeboys were out stealing cars!!! i was a fucken loser....but this song still rocks. ive been looking for it about a month.

  • @sLip778roMpe whats the name of the movie?

  • Dis dat real dope shiiit. Dis dat shit dat make ya think. Dis dat shit dat even inspires lil wayne.

Rappers today would be nuthin without dat real rap from back in tha day. Dis dat music they were raised on ya feel me.

  • @Damian2354 Well It can't inspire Wayne too much, because that nigga don't be rappin bout nuthin relevant. Just the same random metaphors that make no sense and has nothing to do with anything.

  • How come y'all find a way to Bring up Lil Wayne in ANY convo? are you part of his street team?

  • Cee Lo verse was real as hell, especially the last part

  • This track can be somewhat rare and hard to find.

I decided to upload the audio version of this track and it is now available for download on my page for anyone that wants it..

  • Esthero is awesome.

  • I love the way Esthero can switch it up from good girl to straight GANGSTAR!

  • SLAM SOUNTRACK

  • Never saw this b4, thanks c ! xoxo -c-c-

  • damn esthero got such a great voice!!! and the beat is the sh.t!

  • I have it.

I can give you a link to it if you want.

  • yes pls and thank u!!

  • Get rid of the intro. This song is fuckin ill.

  • intro coldest part

  • Cold and incredibly missleading.

  • how so

  • Are you serious? Really? If you need a break down I can give you one but I figure you can probably figure it out for yourself.

  • difference in opinion I guess

  • I thought we were talking about facts. No room for arguing facts.

  • Im looking at it from a marketing perspective ... youre lookin for a deeper argument... difference in opinion like I said.

  • haha at 1:20 to 1:24 gipp looks like a robot.

  • nice g-shit here, goodie mob is one of my favourites, props! 5!

  • I love Cee-Lo. Great song

  • Like homie said below: dis shit was HOT then, and still HOT now

  • many folks slept on this record...its straight FIE....IT WAS FIE THEN AND ITS DAMN SHOLL FIE NOW...WE NEED THESE FOLKS BACK IN HIP HOP....REPPING THE EASTSIDE OF ATL...ELLENWOOD YEAH

  • FUUUUUUCKKK!!!! i was going to sample this shit!!! why does everyone always beat me to the sample! shit!

  • that happens to me all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!

face it if rza dint do it kanye or just blaze will

  • I saw Goodie Mob back in the later half of the 90s @ the Milk Bar in Jacksonville FL (the club is was actually under the ground downtown). That was a sick show! I many years later this decade saw Esthero in Atlanta GA with Cee-Lo joining on stage but not for this song though...

  • the club was really under the ground?

  • Yes Literally

  • good look an btw what song did they sample from

  • esthero-country living.

    breath from another album

  • what is the dc jail footage n this video and what is it from

  • it's from the movie "Slam"

  • I Produced this record!!!! (2RUDE) Funny how people don't know that i produced this record ... i'm happy people love it though!! Thanks Esthero, Doc and Goodie Mob for the work. Phill did a great job on the video ... i got chills when i saw it on BET!!

  • Didnt know that...(2Rude) i'm pretty sure you got down on a trak with Saukrates n Monch.....anyhow....nice work....Esthero's voice is so ill....416/647

  • Thanks Mr.Halfkast!!! Esthero is ill!! God bless!!

  • a hidden gem in the Goodie Mob stable, as a lot of soundtrack songs can be. obviously not hidden to die hards like most of us.

Esthero is as talented as they come. She is a true original with a God given talent. Proven to this day by her two albums and countless collabs with BEPs, Kanye, Michie Mee, Saul Williams, etc.

Of course, the Goodie may have found her first as I can't recall her appearing with a hip hop artist before this.

    True artwork from true artists.

  • cee lo still got thangs 2 say... who cares and who's gonna save my soul are plenty... but i agree he's lost some edge...

    wat r ebombs homie

  • i love gnarls barkley but ceelo seemed to have more too say back in the day,now i think hes rollin on Ebombs.

  • I mean people grow, whatchu want? Cee lo gotta a song on here last album and it was a banger

  • I understand. Goodie and Lo got some of the sickest flows out there, and I respect that. Just saying, old Goodie w/Lo, and new Goodie w/o Lo, got some pretty serious digs about you know who. The apple does not fall far from the tree. Could do w/o the "runnin' rampent on a Clampet in a mini-van" shit that they are famous for down here. Most folks are unaware of the real Goodie and or Outkast. Sorry, didn't mean to ramble.

  • You mistake hating white people for hating white racist people. It's easy for white people to confuse the two, I see it all the time.

  • Okay, now I understand....Thank you

  • @bankheadb YOU REALLY ARE MISTAKEN WITH WHAT YOU ASSUME.BLACK PRIDE DOES NOT EQUAL RACISM.

  • @BLACKGURU635 OKAY. THANK YOU AND HAVE A NICE EVENING.

  • @bankheadb TYPICAL RESPONSE.

  • @BLACKGURU635 not gonna take your smart mouth bait. have a nice evening

  • @bankheadb ARE YOU A FISH?OR ARE YOU SCARED?

  • Despite the controversy regarding Goodie Mob doing a mix with Esthero this song keeps being replayed in Canada by request and on demand the world i know doesn't recognize intelligence

    peace

    Cutewhenunknown

  • "Despite the controversy" what!?

    -StoicOne!

  • everyone has got an opinion on her doing the mix... i think it sounds good and more people should listen to it. Despite the backlash and the terrible comeback by Goodie Mob after Cee lo left this song is still a memory reviver and needs more air time.

    Peace

    Cutewhenunknown

  • This shit is just fly bottom line!

    -Stosa!

  • ceelo pretty much assasinated this song..i miss this music mane...now in the a we got this "whats up wit dat cookie" crap..

  • Goodie Mob is hip-hop with substance. One of the greatest albums ever was their 1995 "Soul Food"! I remember my boy Lewis Edwards said he listened to this CD everyday to get his mind "right" while we was in Bosnia back in 1996. This album does get your mind right! Proud to live in GA from the pine trees to the red clay!

  • Slam is a great movie. Its one of those few movies that showcases alot of talented spoken word artists. As far as goodie mobb goes, I think Cee lo was the most talented guy out the group. His first solo album is unrealistic. I remember being a youngsta listening to "get up, get out" and "crumbelin herb". When cee lo left the group, the goodie mobb just wasnt the same. Even gip solo project was wack. Im glad to see Lo still getting his shine on tho. Thats one talented brother!

  • or not so secret because as it turns out a lot of people know about it.

  • The movie this song was in (Slam) was awesome. it inspired me to write poetry and listen to Saul Williams

  • My JOINT!

  • if i was goodie mobb i would re-release this song with their new album..it was one of the most underrated songs of all time...every verse is snappin you know what im talkin bout...the beat you cant help but rock your head if you are alive the melody is sick.. man we need that new album goodie..repping the eastside of atl..ellenwood...yeah

  • CLASSIC MUSIC IS TIMELESS..i remember c n this video jus once n 98 and bought the soundtrak jus 4 this song...still one of my favorites..

  • this is a great song...slam was a great movie...great things for hip hop plus cee-lo straight murked his verse

  • word..there's a lot of tight songs on this soundtrack...a lot of what was tight at that moment...can't forget about DJ Spooky...he put the fuckin thing together....i used to listen to this whole album a shitload..i love this track...

  • great song period

  • damn i didnt know saul was in this...

  • me neither dammmn..

  • They played this song on the radio exactly twice EVER in my city. And both times, it was at like 5:15 in the morning. But look at the bullsh!t that gets heavy rotation...

  • @Battlecataclysmic

That is what is WRONG with radio TV, commercial rules the airwaves they would rather play some BULLSHIT to keep you dancing and not play anything intelligent that will provoke thought. It makes me sick to think that today's rappers benefit from lack of creativity and kids think the sickest rapper is Lil Wayne.

    HIP-HOP died several years ago!!

  • @Battlecataclysmic man they dont even play it at all down here, just that new age kids bull they call rap, witch is pretty much autotuner bullshit ft. some dumb female, and one catchy verse.

  • The song is a Goodie Mo-b classic The movie a classic, Saul Williams... a classic and the C.O. in the beginning prophesized the future of many of our lost Black youth in america and it came to pass.... Damn ya'll, lets get it together...Azziz.

  • Hot ass track.

  • pastor troy ft goodie mob album called ATL a-town ledged pt2 comming out july 22

  • Good life Good music

  • slam was my movie.. ahhh.

  • esthero laced the track on this joint .....these guys were always waaaaay ahead of their time......if u really listen to the lyrics from the first 2 albums, the words have come true like prophecies

  • this is a good tune

  • why in the hell does that security gaurd look like Bun B to me?

  • @MistaMississippi He's a Correctional Officer dude. Not a security guard.

  • estheros chorus on this song is from a song on her own CD... called "country living" off her cd "breath from another"

  • These niggas always drop knowledge on wax.

  • This on Slam Soundtrack.

  • what good mobb album is this from? i know it aint from still standing, soul food or world party...someone let me know

  • Slam: The Soundtrack

From the movie Slam a good movie in its own right...

  • it's from a soundtrack. I don't remember which one. Google it.

  • i love this song thanks to esthero

  • I love Esthero. The Goodie Mob is cool too.

  • SHE SOUNDS LIKE A WHITE "RES"

  • ..thats cus 'Res' used the same producer named 'Doc' after esthero stopped werking with him

...and 'res' is aiight but came 5 years after esthero..esthero was ahead of her time even still now...theres a new album coming next year I believe...

...and also fyi before Fergie was in Blak eyed peas it was esthero that was singing for them...but their label believed it would be more marketable to have fergie sing with them...

  • i diggit.

    when is it from?

  • Her chorus is what makes the song good.

  • I've been looking 4 this song 4 awhile-thx cormon!

  • the original song is "country livin" [the world i know] from her debut album "breath from another".

  • Esthero's original version is just so much better. IMO

  • what album is this of?

  • SLAM motion picture soundtrack.

  • hiphop is ready for that goodie mob to form back together...they're a great teaching tool to hiphop...we ready..

    5th.

  • HOLY SHIT!! THAT IS DC JAIL. I spent 3 nights there cuz i blew a .23 and got a DUI....jail sucks

fuck USA laws, thank God I'm outta that place. Goodie Mob represent. Keep the trunks rattling

    -ali from pakistan

  • It's funny to see people, since Gnarls Barkely, FINALLY discovering the awesomeness that has ALWAYS been Goodie MoB and Esthero.

I remember, back in college, riding to New Orleans on the weekends and getting blazed to this song and OutKast's "Aquemini" album.

If you think Esthero is dope now, peep her "Breath From Another" album............ fuckin genius!

  • "breathe from another" is the S.H.I.T.! I've had to buy 4 copies 'cause folks keep borrowing it and never returning it. "indigo boy" is my fave! The new album's pretty hot too.

  • Country Livin is the song.

  • oh man i havent seen this in years wow

  • fat beats and esthero's voice is sweet as buttah!!

  • how recent is this

  • i was listening to this in 1998 or 1999, i'm pretty sure

  • reel south ballers

  • does it feel good wearing these damn ugly teeth?

    just wondering... funny thou XP

  • One of the reasons I like this video is because it's Esthero and Goodie Mob coming together on a track. Before I heard about this song, I wouldn't think this collab would be possible. This song is awesome.

  • esthero kicks ass

  • Cee-lo with a grill is always funny given his current image.

  • What album was this on? Was it Soul Food or Still Standing? I don't remember this.

  • This was on the soundtrack for the movie 'Slam'

  • Thanks a lot homie!

  • its on the Country Livin' album too

  • The original is on "breathe from another". no goodie.

  • YOU SCARRED!

  • shits been stuck in my head all day AWESOME SONG !

  • Fuckin Goodie Mob...SO REAL!!! they need to blast them from the speakers and ride down the streets of DC...this video is on point...welcome to the DC jail!!! We need to get it together!

  • Esthero is amazing. I really wish she had proper studio backing. If she had a few more vids and some press, she SHOULD have made it big. Amazing voice, amazing artist.

  • OMFG! i've been looking for this song for AGES!!! i swear you can find anything on you tube. thanks!!!!

  • dopeness. art should tell it like it is

  • this song is so ol' school and flappinf badass......what happened to music like this now

  • yo i loved this song back in the day. i been looking for this but in my ignorance i thought they did this song with portishead.. thanks for this one..

  • Love DJ Krush and Esthero - Final Home. Check it out.

  • Yeah, she rocks in this video. I heard she briefly dated one of the guys from Goodie Mobb on the down low.

  • diz dat shit

  • WOW. I love this! Esthero is love.

  • do u got goodie mob video dirty south i seen that video 2time

  • I didn't know they made a video for this

  • Nothing beats the Original Esthero CD, Breath From Another. NOTHING!

  • Agreed...that cd was on another level.
