@pomariiS2 any loose hanging ends you'll want to weave in and them trim the ends. If you are not sure how to do this, we do have a video showing you how to weave in ends on the Knit Picks channel.
@downbythebay4 Until you secure your ends and weave them in, the stitches might look a bit loose and messy. Make sure to pull snuggly before you weave in your ends to tighten up loose stitches, if that is what hasn't been working for you. Good Luck and happy knitting!
There is also something called a Russian Join. In my opinion, this is one of the absolute BEST joins out there. Especially since you don't end up with double stitches like you do with the method shown in this video.
Thank you! I've been struggling with this question for a while. Your video is great. Now, I'm anxious to go back to my project and practice this technique.
Fantastic tutorial!! I'm a knitting beginner and just knitted on my second yarn of wool to my scarf while watching this at the computer. Great stuff!!!
I like readin the comments on this because it makes me feel im not the only beginner making a scarf. =) One question tho. How will the stitch not come undone? My friend told me to just tie the new ball to the old ball and make sure its tied tight.
what about the loose hanging old yarn? do you just cut it off?

Thanks so much for posting this. With your help, I just joined yarn in the midst of knitting for the very first time!

I've tried this a couple of times. It always ends badly for me.

3 stitches is not enough to avoid raveling, in my opinion. I always do at least 6

Just to get this right in my head...
"In, over, under off" is normal,
To knit together, you go "In" normally, "Over" adding the new wool as well, and carry on "under and off" with both strands.
Is that right?

Oh, another question, I saw that you did a purl stitch for the 3 double at the end. Do you have to do a purl stitch?
