the song he's improvising over is Alabama Jubilee....he's using the Buster B. Jones arrangement as a foundation in case anyone's interested in analyzing it
Wow! I analyze Albert's playing for some five years now and his runs and licks still amaze me. Most fast player's stuff turns out to be boring when played at lower tempo. Albert is a big exception. When you play his melody-lines slowly they still are full of finesse and musical beauty. Albert is a player of the second row, but he is secretly admired by the first row "guitar-gods".
@Fitzliputzli23 it's weird....none of his licks are all that jaw dropping on their own,..but when they start flowing together that in-immitable way he does it,..then your jaw starts to slack...and then your jaw falls off...and you are a albert lee fan/zombie
I got to see him up close and personal at a guitar seminar some years ago. Not only is he a phenomenal player, he is a really nice guy. He did a meet and greet after the presentation and hung out till the last autograph was signed and the adoring fans had left.
Albert is a guitarists guitarist if you know what I mean lol
I've seen him many times now over the years here in the UK, once saw him "duel" with Tommy Emanuel now theres a pair of pickers to write home about, I mean WOW !!!...what night.
first of all, this tele just sounds way way better than the Music Man he sold out to. how he could sacrifice the tone is beyond me. only Fender has the authentic sound. argue as hard as you want. this video just flat out proves it.
I agree. That strat music man copy sux. And I play a fender strat. The thing that keeps me playin it is that my dad bought it for me and I put alot of work into it. I took the single coils out, got it routed, and put in a seymour duncan 59 humbucker in the neck and a jb humbucker in the bridge. Now it sounds awesome! But now I'm saving for a tele. I'm keepin the singles in that one though just cus it sounds so awesome with them.

@glueforall I'm with you - he sounded about 10x better on a Tele than on the MusicMan, Tele had more twang and more balls

I've been a fan of his for 20 years. First fellow I ever saw use a B-puller.
If I could be 1/100th as good as him, I'd die happy.

I feel dirty asking that question, but I have to know who was better? who won the duel between Tommy Emanuel and Albert Lee?
AncientofAncients 2 years ago
Now that would be unfair of me to decide I reckon !
Albert was playing electric & Tommy accustic, personally I prefer Albert but that is only my opinion of course !

Well hell...here's what's gets up my nose....
Most folks don't even know who the hell Albert Lee is...
He's only the greatest picker in the world...
Not just my view but that of folks like Eric Clapton, Vince Gill and so forth...
Albert is a gem and we're damn lucky to have him...
Go figure

Albert Lee files his down, and then uses bits of paper to keep the strings from buzzing.

get coil cut switches in your strat
go from hum to single at the flick of a switch (or the pull of a pot!)

Actually, I think he's playing one of his Phil Kubicki telecasters. So, technically not a Fender.
