GREAT JOB for all those people who knew what to do! fyi in 2009 16 people died from skydiving (uspa announcement) which is one of the lowest stats in skydiving...much safer than driving to work 5 miles away

by the book skydiving is very, very safe. i have arond 80 jumps and i never had any proplems, proper packing and self control ( not doing any crazy shit), by the book) and your safe.

@girlmagnet12 Although all these clips are dangerous manyof these problems have resulted from people making bad decisions and not planning properly. The first skydiving clip they are just being stupid and opening low, the swooping ones are when they are making poorly judged hook turns, at 1.30 he causes the double malfunction whilst trying to do a backsumersault in his harness.

Skydiving, although managed heavily, is a dangerous sport, but we accept that risk for the good times!

My biggest fear was not of skyding itself or my own equipment which I kept in perfect condition, it was the idiots in the air who acted like idiots. These as the same fools who are out there everywhere and not just jumping out of planes. I preferred to be the last out of the plane and opening away from everyone else and not fighting for the same landing area. These are all things which causes people to get killed or kill someone else, oh yeah, and the inexperienced or over cocky swoopers.

He flipped thru the risers during deployment and caused the spin.  Then when he cut away it was caught on his foot which then led tot he reserve free bag getting spagetti wrapped.

you play with fire you get burnt, it's as simple as that. Whilst I certainly don't profess to be a seasoned skydiver, i do know that If you push your comfort zone too far, for too long in any sport, you will get hurt.

A lot of what is on that video should be shown to students as a good example of what not to do. It's amazing how many skydivers injure or kill themselves under perfectly functioning parachutes...in particular the low hook turns. Some of what was on the video was a good example of what SHOULD be done...some great footage of dealing with malfunctions. It's a really cook video. Blue skies!!
