Never played anything Final Fantasy before, but found this game for $15 at Target the other day so I grabbed it. Don't know if the deal was for just my store/state or what, but if you can find it, grab it. It's amazing. I'm not that far into the game yet and I love it. If any newcomer like me is considering trying it out, I can't recommend it enough. You will love it.

In the original FF3, onion knight was the starter class which is now called I believe called freelancer or something along those lines. In the new DS remake, onion knight is the most powerful job and must be unlocked through a sidequest, I think. I haven't actually done it, so I could be totally wrong.

That was a localization issue. The game with Terra and Locke was FF6. However, it was the 3rd one to get localized in NA, so they changed it to FF3, which came to bite them in the ass later on, cause now half the ppl are confused =)

My favorite Final Fantasy. It was my first Final Fantasy... and I found it easy, but only because I really overleveled after Kraken. After getting to Lv50, I found out that Thieves could unlock doors. (Hey, I was 8 at the time -_-')

@FangedReviewer awww I really liked 12 personally. The story and characters weren't to compelling comparatively (Balthier is awesome though) but the actual gameplay was epic I thought! All the different places you could go and the caverns and tunnels and stuff that all link up together. The licence board worked (until everyone got great enough to end up exactly the same as each other which happens in a lot in most final fantasy's anyway) and the monster hunting was a fun side quest

i agree what you brought up were in-fact great additions but i just didn't feel like i was playing in a world full of magic and beasts.

I didn't like the map idea though, i felt constricted. The main things i love in Final Fantasy is diving into this whole new world, getting to travel to all different kinds of places, unlocking the secrets to the plot.

but in FF12 i felt way to constricted. I just couldn't get a feel for the world the game was trying to portray.

this was just my opinion though.

@FangedReviewer Yeah it's definitely a world full of castles and politics, that's the atmosphere I got =P but I guess if that was what it was going for it did it okay. I know what you mean about travelling to different places, it's definitely fun to discover new story elements but sometimes I think it can be too much. Like in final fantasy 6. You have the option to not let nearly every character be apart of the story in the end including the main one =P plus they're hard to get as well!

Well for me the best Final Fantasy was 9 but there are lots of people that didn't like that one for their reasons, you can't satisfy everyone with the same game =P

And yeah, although change is refreshing ever since Enix came into it it's been very shaky. I admit I like 12 but 10-2 and 13 are pretty bad to me.

greatest or worst is simply the bias of what seems to be the majority, one cannot simply say that one was really better than the other one should instead appreciate the different fantasies that storytellers show us.
