@QwalityHD yes. use the razor tool (on the right of the screen), the shortcut is "bb" (two times "b") then go to the place in the timeline you want to cut and press the left mouse button

when i put my vid in the timeline and tries to play it, it says unrendered on the screen. then i click on the video, then sequence and then i render it. then it works, but if i move the clip it says unrendered again! what should i do?

@ChrisMiller1994 - It sounds as if either your render files or the underlying database are corrupt. delete the render files in the Render Manager, and then re-render the entire sequence. If that doesn't work, it's possible that your only problem is corrupt thumbnail images, which would require that you close FCP and delete the file "Final Cut Pro Thumbnail Cache" before reopening FCP. my experience to you, read the manual and dont try to take shortcuts. makes you look like a dumb wanker.

I have a lot of clips in .avi and .wmv format I am so tired of sony vegas not rendering my videos without a problem. I really wish final cut would accept .avi files I want to continue doing videos like I did before in sony vegas so is a way that I can convert my .avi files in final cut without creating another file for it. I just want my .avi files to be in the format mac understands. I know how to convert but hate that it takes hours to convert my files is there a faster way I have about 50.

it means your sequence's audio settings are different from the clip and the audio needs to be rendered.
