  • You're right they are beautiful, but they don't good hood ornaments as you will see in my video I Hit an Owl with a Van. Don't drive at night going to Hogwarts.

  • If you are a falconer you have to religiously watch your bird's weight. This is the most important thing, and it seems to be the last thing people realize when they just want one as a pet : /

I definatly wouldn't be able to do that : ) you have to be professional as all hell!

  • Owls have to be one of the coolest of the bird species.

  • If you are truly interested in handling or possessing one of these creatures, get into a program, volunteer at a zoo or another wildlife rehab center and first get an idea of what it is that you think you want to do. If after that, you are still interested, then begin pursuing this interest, you will study, you will be tested, you will be covered in raptor vomit and fecal matter long before you get that license. Wear glasses.

  • As a licensed wildlife rehabilitator with a fed raptor rehab permit and a wildlife scientific research license, I can tell you first hand that special licenses are required to possess hawks, falcons, owls, eagles, buzzards and caracaras. They are beautiful and it may be very tempting to try to raise one of these creatures, but unless you are adequately trained, you will likely kill it as many before you have done, EVERYBODY believes that they can successfully raise one until they try, so don’t.

  • Wonderful video though. Please update on her training. Hope for the best for you.

  • So for all you that say you can you are wrong. Read up an study before you speak please. These are very beautiful an majestic animals but are WILD animals to begin with. Meg is a beautiful example of excellent care an love. But one thing is she is what you cal a "Manned" owl. Meaning she was either hatched in captivity or was caught at a very young age an tamed. Her beautiful plumage and stature is proof she is very well taken care of.

  • It is NOT legal to own a barn owl or any type of Raptor in the US. They are sanctioned under the Wildlife Protection Act and are the PROPERTY of the Wildlife Fish and Game Dept.. The only way you can HOUSE a raptor is to have special licensing. One is Rescue an rehabilitation the other is falconry which by the way takes TWO YEARS in apprenticeship under Licensed sponsorship to obtain. It is also NOT legal to Breed or sell them in the US as pertained in the aforementioned Sanction.

  • Can I use an owl as an apprentice Falconer? Or do I have to have my liscense?

  • shes soooo beautiful....i just LOVE owls =)

  • Her eyes are gorgeous!!!!!

  • i love how her feathers blow at the start xD

  • Thanks excellent work

  • Isit true that a barn owl can only be reliably flown only 1 time each day due to the fact that their food goes straight into their stomach rather than first into their 'crop' like birds of prey.

flying works because the bird is hungry, although after being flown and fed will the owl come back again?

  • wtf have i been youtubing to end up here...

  • amazing bird. when you do a falconry course does this intitle you to own any type of bird of prey?

  • In the US, you study to pass an exam, and after passing you are licensed with the state and fed. gov. as an apprentice falconer. Depending upon your falconry class, you are allowed different species and ages of raptors.

  • @airgunner106

You do not need to take a course to own a Bird of Prey. However you need to do a lot of research. ^^

  • @AUJamie Actually, in most cases the only way you can own a bird of prey is through falconry, or wildlife rehabilitation licenses/hobby license. Either way, you need papers and to prove you can provide a suitable home.

  • @Kitsune you con't need papers for a barn owl at all . only if you are breeding them and want to seel them

  • @Kitsune you don't need papers to own a barn owl , only to sell barn owls if you are breeding - you can gift them for free with no papers

  • @dawniymarie They're considered wild animals in my state. The only way you can own them is through falconry/hobby license/rehabilitation facilities/etc.

  • such a beautiful barn owl! one of my favorites
