Well, I've been trying to play Portal 2 and my graphics card would hit above 100 celsius and the game would begin to lag, this took about 20 minutes. I went in and cleaned the fan off and now its only taking about 3 minutes to reach 110 celsius, but i know the fan is operating correctly. I don't think that the G50Vt is cut out for the more recent games if you ask me, it doesn't cool well enough.
well putting the system on overclock really doesnt do much unless you're going to run some intensive programs to actually make the GPU and all the work (hence creating heat) put on like WoW, CoD, or HALO. i've had my computer over 100 degrees easily, granted i normally have a fan under and on the side to keep it cool xD
i used to overclock my asus g50 from the direct consol, but suddenly when i try to overclock it, the performance and LED light tabs on the direct consol arent clickable, only the OLED panel tab, do you know whats wrong, why direct consol isnt working, how can i fix this or overclock without direct consol?
@WanderNeko Just to let you know my Acer is oustanding. It's 3 to 4 years old and it runs all games smooth as anything Very pleased. 18.4 inches and never ever had and issue or a crash or a problem.
I think the Asus with dual SLI 5870's is oustanding gaming laptop but asus shoud have made it like 20inches or more.
I concurr. I just bought it 1 month ago and its great. You can upgrade just about anything in the laptop. The processor, the vid card, HD and of course 8gigs of RAM. Also you can turn the Nvidia 9800M GS into a fully Nvidia 9800M GTS with a Bios flash in seconds. So the price is a steal for the performance.
Look. Take a look at this thread and you will have the GTS in seconds. Read the starting post twice before doing anything. Remember that this can void your warranty so its n your own risk. forum (dot) notebookreview(dot) com/showthread(dot) php?t=357807
You do realize that that comment was 2 months ago right? Of course technology changes. Best buy doesn't even take the laptop back after 2 weeks because technology 'moves so quickly' As far as I can see the computers are about the same. 2.53 GHz Processor * 2 cores = 5.09 GHZ, and the Asus G50 VT x5 is 4.695 GHz so its a bit less, and the Ram slots on here are upgradeable, your hard drive is slower 5400 RPM, doesn't load OS As fast. and...
And for duo 4 GB Ram for 8 GB of ram total for 70$ more and the computer that i have (the VT X5) is only 713$ ... so for 713 + 70$ = 783$ with a processing speed of only .5 GHZ less. And Asus only has a safe overclock on here from duo 2.13s to duo 2.347s, you can use Prime 95 to pass your Laptop easily. And I save liek 500$ but Always, computers get better. but for the price of mine and price of yours, that is not MUCH better, although if i had 1,200$ I'd take it :P

how would you remove the heat sink to clean it? Because mine is overheating i think so the games I used to be able to play lag now.
ChinaKillsTerrorists 1 year ago
@ChinaKillsTerrorists this has been happening to me also. games I used to be able to play perfectly lag because of how hot my gpu gets.
HybuR7 9 months ago
yea just take your computer apart and clean the heat sink and cooling fan.

4 Gigs DDR 3 Laptop AS8735G-6472
Nvidia 240M GT 1024 DDR3
