  • mouser.com has the crystals for 46 cents a piece. Don't have to mess with the toaster.

  • i havwe a few cbs yes, but i dont intend to use them in that fashion LOL. HILLARIOUS though LO

  • Just buy a baoFeng UVR 3 its 50 dollars but only 2 watts but its alot of fun.

  • For all the idiots on YouTube, this video is fake. A simple google search (or some common sense) will reveal. Thumbs up so the idiots don't waste their money

  • is this legit?

  • @z19s0ccer no not at all. not only does it not make sense at all but..well that's just it. Microwaves don't have crystals in them lol. Don't go buy a cb radio. Please

  • @AdamXXll haha thanks, i bought one but i was able to take it all back

  • This video made this so easy to do. I'm posting a video of my prank soon!

  • Lol at the Canon intro.

  • Priceless! ROTFLMAO

  • If u believe this ridiculous video then UR a moron! He's obviously using a Amateur Radio handie-talkie on restaurant's freq. So actual recordings R real but CB mod is retarded. Toasters do NOT have crystals! He just put that fake ckt board in toaster. Parents will ground u if u destroy toaster. CB radio has tuned ckts for 26-27 mHz. Most modern CB's use PLL ckts & no crystal. All u will do is ruin good toaster & a CB radio if u try this.

  • U can not triple CB freq as it is way out of band for 155 mHz which is 5+ times fundamental freq. CB is AM & restaurant sys are FM & won't even hear AM signal. Yes U may be able 2 cause cross-talk or "splash" interference on Taco Bell sys if U are running illegal high power 2 yr CB but is rare. Sometimes u can hear truckers on highway bleed through on loudspeaker. And you'd only be able to talk not listen unless u listen on a scanner.

  • @Spookysr there are plenty of Am-FM duel band CB`s around, I & lots of friends owned them back in the 80`s, just saying, What I would really like to know, is why the hell would a toaster have a crystal in it! FFS

  • @paulspydar - Yes Class C UHF CB's are now GMRS (and FRS). But they are in 400 Mhz range not 150 Mhz. A crystal or any electronics in a toaster would fry. If its for toast timing you don't need crystals anymore for past 3 decades of PLL (phase lock loops) like NE-555's IC's. This video is a hoax!

  • ima write my comment in hex.

  • lol. bricks nice

  • fucking awsome!!!!!

  • 9:11 seconds long and the title has hijack in it o.o

  • @TheGeck777 OMFG ITS A CONSPIRACY

  • I have a handheld radio...I just found my new toy

  • wait though, does this work at ANY drive through, and does it STILL work, someone please tell me

  • time to add this to my favorites, watch later, downloaded MP4, burned to a dvd, TIME TO GO TO THE THRIFT STORE

  • hey what is the average range? i mean what CD can i get the has the most range?

  • ok so we got a digital cb radio and all the parts to make it work (radio, battery, antenna, etc.) and we also got the 6.5536mhz crystal and installed it, and it seemed to work but we can seem to talk or listen to anybody in drive thru's, any advice for maybe fine tuning or tweaks??

  • are drive thrus still on cb i would think they are on 2.4ghz or something..?

thank you for your time hope i get answered

  • You can buy these crystals online really cheap.... digikey is one place.. i got 10 of them for like 6bucks.

  • I LOVE MY TACOS WTF WHAT SONG IS THAT? please tell me you made my day

  • After listening to many Pla re-Runs, it was an april fools joke. FUCK

  • i say there should be a new federal law saying you cannot hack drive thru frequencies

  • *Fix* Meaning the asshole above said it didnt work

  • Does the Cb radio thing still work? Or are these assholes just trolling?

  • @C130RAAF I don't see why not. Scanners transmit just as well as a CB radio, right?

  • @rbcp Scanners receive, not transmit

  • @Pilot135R Your sarcasm meter is damaged. Have it repaired immediately.

  • @rbcp ohhhhh, my mistake. I'm sorrow, lol.

  • PLATV admitted that this video was fake, why would a broadcasting crystal be in a toaster? Come on.. Think guys!.......

  • @theminatar To restrict the mhz of the toaster so it doesn't go over 60 Mhz. Its a saftey restriction. He even explains it in the video.

  • @TheJakobnator There's a thread on their website telling everyone that this is prank just to get people like you to destroy their toasters haha.

  • this probably doesn't work anymore. Most drive thrus use higher frequencies now, and some of the systems are digital.

  • OMG thank you! I really fucked with that douchebag Tim at the McDonald's! I hate that guy!

  • aren't you guys worried about the cops

  • @SenneffRules do you think a regular small town police station can trace radio frequencies?

    HELL NO

  • @HumanDynamite777 maybe not then but now I'm sure their using everything they can get their hands on

  • FAKE 100% FAKE IT'S A JOKE

  • dude you the vx-7 is a HAM radio your gonna get in a BIIIIG lawsuit with the FCC

  • I have a friend at McDonald that knows the frequency for it's drive thru, bought the CB radio same one you had changed the frequency key.....and tried it out....it didn't work. Your a faggot wasted 60$. FUCK YOU. Think your funny. Good thing Im good with DDos attacks and have lots of bots. Bitch.

    Wolfgang.

  • @GangstaGangVideos lol u mad, nowadays you need to use a HAM radio, a CB radio wont no longer work. Dumbass should've done some research before trying this.

  • @Teamnexuss he did use a ham radio look up the radio he used the vx-7 is a amature radio transciver

  • cr85racer13

  • maybe you people should go check out his little website, he posted about how this is complete bullshit and about how he got hundreds of people to go out and buy cb radios and destroy their toasters as a joke. the fact that you went through this much trouble to fuck people over is ridiculous you asshole

  • AMAZING!!! I can't believe I could do that with just my Black & Decker toaster!! And this was only my second try at soldering, too...

Oh, s**t...just realized...my wife is going to find out she can't make toast because I've been pranking the McDonald's down the street....

  • what is the song at the beginning?

  • What happened at the end?

  • i know i have a school district bus frequnies

in my vhf kenwood tk-250 radio 151.685

  • So I completely demolished a hair straightener and an iron... my gf is gonna kill me .

I didn't find any crystal in them..

  • What if your radio uses pll and not a crystal?

  • @doughboy004

Do you think these kids actually know what a Phase Lock Loop is?

  • I just tried this today!! It was awesome!! The crystal wasnt found in a NEWER MODEL TOASTER, which I think is what people are confused about. The toaster I used was a newer model, And the CB radio crystal transfer went smootly. Ha! Had a good prank session this afternoon at Taco Bell!! Thanks guys, THIS WORKS!!

  • @RappyMcRapperson You need a toaster made after 2000

  • This will not work

A lot of these systems use digital these days but not all of them. I am able to pick up some drive-thru signals on my 8 Band radio scanner. Most of them send to 31.###

For example 31.425 (I got McDonald on that), assuming some of these are not encrypted you should be able to pull off such a prank on a Ham radio (not cb).

  • FYI everyone! this KFC was using HME 2000 intercom system which was phased out long ago. some still use them but not many. All new wireless drive thru systems are digital and 1.9 ghz and above. HME 2000 are 150 mhz input and 30 mhz output. I work on drive thru headsets for a living, I know all the frequencies for all the systems in use. But I am not telling!

  • Also a CB radio transmits AM and the drive thru system uses FM.

  • JUST TO LET EVERYONE KNOW: you CAN buy those crystals on the internet, so don't rip apart your poor household appliances, buy them on the internet instead, they're like 20 cents.

  • why not just buy the crystal online for 3 bucks

  • I couldn't find a crystal in my toaster but I did find one in my pre 1960's hair dryer. Thanks!

  • I did this yet again this past weekend, it was lots of fun as always. My local thrift store has no idea why I go in every week to buy up all their toasters, but they've even started to put them aside for me. Endless crystals!

  • @RobTFirefly DIY FTW

  • @RobTFirefly its fake and u know it its all fake how do i know its cuz i did it plus i got the same cristakl from internet and the same radio shar cb radio and it did not work so stop fucking

  • @jdm672 Don't tell me to stop fucking just because you can't follow directions.

  • Comment removed

  • @RobTFirefly Toasters don't have any crystals you fucking moron.

  • @MistuhCoolio You don't have the right toaster! Also, you are rude.

  • @RobTFirefly I am terribly sorry, Sir Rob Vincent. There has been a misunderstanding.

  • @RobTFirefly Really. I think you're lying. Because this is obviously a joke..

  • @AdamXXll That's a funny joke you made about how you pretended to think I was lying. :-)

  • Those crystals are $4 on ebay, or $5 for 2.

  • All you need is a scanner to monitor the outbound frequency, and a field programmable mobile VHF radio to transmit the headset frequency. eBay is your friend!

I did this back in the early 90's.

    Never got caught!

Did it from 3/4 mile away. My mobile put out 40 watts of pure pwnage!

Nowadays it is nearly impossible to hijack them. They are all digital, and headsets need to be registered to the base unit from the base itself. It would have to be an inside job. Plus the range does not go f

  • @jb0177 A lot of my local drive thrus still use pretty conventional FM systems, albeit with PL tones.

  • this crystal is on ebay, dont take apart ur damn toaster

  • it worked awesome thanks RBCP!!!

  • Awesome!! I didn't think my toaster had this but it turns out it did- and it worked perfectly

  • For one thing.. On a cheap toaster the crystal may be insulated in plastic. The crystal is also very small, watch him take it apart and compare the tip of his finger to the size of the crystal. Just look for something thats of that shape and size. I'm certain you will find it on the CB and the Toaster. I bought a $9 toaster and a $20 CB, This is well worth $29.

  • This will not work. CB frequency range is 27MHz while the radios that most drive-thru's use are in the 150MHz range. Just changing a crystal will not change the frequency of a cb. CB's use a PLL chip which determines the frequency. Also, most drive-thru's use CTCSS tones. The transmitter would have to be able to decode and transmit the CTCSS tone. Any cb past or present can not do that.

    .

  • @twjr80 on top of all that, a CB modulates using AM(amplitude modulation) while the radio systems that drive-thru's use operate using FM(frequency modulation)

  • Comment removed

  • Give us the name and model of that toaster and we will believe you. circuit boards don't free float when you open a object.

  • These videos are fun to watch , but I am a electrician. I know better that a toaster has 120 v power , L1 and L2 and a heating coil. Don't take this seriously. But it is funny to know people are not informed enough to know not to break their shit apart. lol

  • so cool! It took my brother and I 2 weeks but we finally got it working.( Thanks goodwill for the toaster.) Unfortunately only the taco bell 20 miles away had a radio I could get into. But it was still worth the drive :) I'll post a video soon

  • sounds professional but it is fake

  • @computerdude556 If it's fake then why are so many people commenting that it worked? Guess you're not as proficient in electronics as you think you are.

  • @rbcp ok then ill play that game. then tell me this. why is the crystal thats in the toaster leads so much longer then all the other components on the bored?

  • @computerdude556 Because the guy on the assembly line at Kitchenaid fell asleep during his shift causing hundreds of toasters to contain this defect.

  • @rbcp thats funny, made me laugh. :P but i still think its fake

  • @rbcp lol computer dude more like computernoob

  • @rbcp dose this still work

  • @UWMxmodme It's a joke man... 8P

  • @computerdude556 It's not "that long" because the crystals (VCXO) are soldered into a circuit board and then the leads are clipped off. Most crystal oscillators look identical to the stock images in this video.

Also, while not all manufactured appliances have crystal sockets I'm sure high end CB radios do since the crystal is a key component of the circuitry and sockets allow for easy replacement. I have no clue how I'd be able to troubleshoot my analog synthesizer if I didn't use IC sockets.

  • My toaster had two crystals in it. I plugged one in my CB radio and it allowed me to mess with the drive thru intercoms (so much fun) and when I plugged the other crystal in my CB radio I found out I was able to access the local police frequencies and I started sending police all over the city to fake incidents! It was awesome!

  • @fadropblane lame and fake

  • Hey do you need a scanner and can you use the scanner on the radio how did you hook it up so you were miles away

  • This works wonderfully, i managed to get the lady in the drive thought to attack the manager that came out....

  • So when you did this cb radio it actually worker how much did it cost you

  • i cant find a 6.5536 crystal on a hair dryer...Help?

  • @cr85racer13 find the circuit board, it should be on there

  • @cr85racer13

Google for digikey. If digikey doesn't have it, nobody does.

  • nice ford focus what is it 2003 ?

  • According to the vid, yes, it was 2003. I do hope you were joking.

  • Of course, drive-thru speakers will broadcast into land line phones too. Everyone knows this.

  • go shut ur mom up bitch...and go spankey spankey on her...

  • so is this how they did the tech support and the auto parts one?

  • Ahah, this one really tricked me. I was gonna do it and good thing I didn't have a toaster because I was really gonna.

  • This is garbage. They used a god damn amateur radio that has shit tons of frequencies...

  • ROY is the shit! good video

  • I got it to work great. You would not beleive how many people me and my friend pissed off at the local McDonalds. Thanks PLA!

  • This worked GREAT!!!!, Thanks PLA!

  • well fuck you ass hole...coz ur fucking shit nearly got one of my friend shot in the drive thru.....

    get a life retard....

  • What the fuck dose that haft to do with this video? Fuck you and watch the vid. I really do feel bad for your friend but dont put shit on him.

  • Yeah...this is totally fake. Googling it will lead to a link that has the group laughing at how many idiots fell for it. Why would a toaster need a radio crystal? Not to control a heating coil either.

  • What an idiot I made one and it works fine.

  • the toaster has a micro controller that uses the crystal for timing control

  • @ploponmybigredcouch you sir are a fucking dumbass

  • @halfway2hell

Why exactly do you have this opinion?

  • that was a kicking vid ppl

  • this works and so does the hovering shoes video on the right lol

  • you guys rock, whats even better is someone with no electrical training, trys this and buys all of this crap to hack this will F this crap up...hehehehehehe 1 mhz crystal hehehehehehehehehehe

  • ok, 1 thing, the headseats have 3 channels on them (A1, A2, B). Only one is to talk to the customera the other is for the staff to communicate. So if the customers cant hear you try another freq.

  • this is fake

  • no its not, it works

  • i opend my brokin CB i had laying around and their was not a crystal.

  • it has to be a digital cb

  • It was. Almost the exact sameone he used.

  • Every CB radio has at least 1 crystal inside of it. Look harder.

  • No they dont stop lying to everyone.

  • The funniest thing about this video are the people who actually fell for it! A crystal in a toaster! OMG! Hillarious. Some people actually went to the store and BOUGHT a new toaster.

Gosh, I wish someone would post a video of them actually responding to this vid.

  • This is awsome!!!

  • It's a lot easier and probably cheaper to just buy a crystal from some place like Digikey...

By the way... this is awesome.

  • ffff

  • rotfl

  • ok youtubers umm first off dont bother buying a toaster i bought three and no crystal. so i ordered it off the internet and replaced it (i actually did have to solder it in). so i tried it (at burger king and tacobell) but i didnt have much time so i couldnt find it. now does any one have any suggestions cause i think it does work but im still trying to figure it out.

  • why do you hate the makers?????????

  • hey guys I was testing this out and actually if you just attach the crystal from the toaster to a decent sized cactus you get the same if not better results. So if you can manage to get your hands on a cactus don't bother wasting your time and money with the radio.

  • I bought a *NEW* toaster and I took it apart...no crystal.

  • RBCP and Murd0c are amazing =D

  • nice im going to do that now

  • I don't believe it actually works! But I gave it a shot anyways and after hooking it up to my frequency counter it actually does transmit around the frequencies that most drive-thrus operate at. I would recommend that you build or get a new antenna for the radio though as the one that comes with the CB is tuned for the CB frequencies and by operating on the drive-thru frequencies you risk frying your finals in the modified CB.

  • Ok...No crystal in toasters...if you wanna do it just buy the same frequency crystal on the internet...some people have it...just replace the one you bought and put it in the CB...It Will Work TRUST ME!!!

  • THEN YOU ARE A RETARD!!!

    hahaha

    that got me laughin.

    thanks for the tip.

  • "sigh" crystals in toasters? if u beleave that then you sad. still it is a prank. it wont work. im curius on how they did it though

  • OK you obviously have no clue what PLA (Phone Losers of America) does. If RBCP says it is true...it's true. He does not make fake instructional vids they are all real so hows about you actually try it instead of being such a fuckin skeptic

  • haha! your such a goof!

u think its real? well go take your toaster apart and send me a vid of its crystal. thats the crystal that was used to make red boxes back in the 80s. it know that you know its fake but you want the people reading are quarel to think that this vid is real so they try it. thats the thing. this video was made for stupid peaple that would actualy wreck a toaster and a walkie talkie. oh and gears of war was a great game! cant wait for the second! peace

  • Why don't they use digital communication link instead?

  • Oh, I get it, nice one RBCP, that's why you rule!

  • I totally tried that shit today, went to goodwill and bought an iron, no crystal in that, traded it for various heating objects, no crystal. So, went to K-mart, bought a toaster, no crystal, then took apart my toaster, no crystal. There is a crystal in my CB but what about the appliances you were talking about? Anybody wanna give me a hand?

  • You neglected to mention if you put a few components from your CB radio into a toaster, it makes an inexpensive wifi fax machine. But hurry! It won't work after Feb 2009, when all modified wifi toaster fax machines go digital.

  • you dont have to have $200, you can just get a VHF portable off ebay for like $70 and get it programmed which usually the seller can do. thats assuming that you know what frequency there on, UHF, VHF, or VHF Lo

    souce: radio tech guy

  • Hey I have A question...i have 3 CB radios...they are put in my car but anyways mine dont have a digital interface...it has a wheel with labeled numbers you use to change channels...Can i still use it to replace the crystal

  • instead of a saudering iron could you use a lighter under the crystal

  • no it wont get hot enough

  • no it wont get hot enough

  • you my friend, are awesome!!!!

  • Yes!!! I got my science teacher to take his toaster apart ;) And his CB radio.

  • it says on their website that its fake.. I thought it was real!! lol.

  • No it's not.

  • hahahaha

  • hey i ordered the crystal you need online and put it in my Motorola walky talky and it worked fine

  • is this legal

  • proabbly not

  • No.

  • didn't think so

  • No it's not legal

  • didnt think so
