@JuneauMarine That's what I loved about being a Marine back in the day is that the Corps teaches us all to shoot fucking pro. I never had the opportunity to become a sniper I was just a RO. The last year that I qualified, at the 500m(with open sights, like you said)I hit the black 9 out of ten shots; I was pretty proud of myself. That got me my 2nd Award Expert. Yeah, I was fortunate enough to never get a pizzabox. People have no idea how Marines are great shooters.As for Marine snipers,pissed!

@danthman114 for your primary weapon if you are a sniper its all depends on the job. hence team served sniper support youll carry the remington .308 rifle, and yes an M4 with a side arm M9. if your job is long range sniper support being attached to an infantry unit you'll carry the Barret .50 Cal. long range weapon system. you are correct in the sense a sniper will cary an M4 or M16. but the sniper rifle depends on the job. that was what i was getting at.

He told us a story where he missed a guy of about 3 feet and the "shock wave" of the bullet knocked the down and another guy on the .50 machine gun lit him up. @MrJzell22 The best preparation you can do for Boot Camp is mental. Know in your mind that being a Marine is what you want and that you will take whatever the Drill Instructors can dish out (and they will dish out lots of mind games) in order to reach your goal of being in the Marines.

Physically, doing pushups, leglifts, running and probably most importantly if you are a typical American these days, dead hang pullups. Most of Boot Camp is mental though.

@MrJzell22 Run, run and then run more. the push up and sit ups will come, but run. If you go able to run 3 miles without stopping, 50 push ups and 75 sit ups, you will be fine for PT. Just keep in mind that it is what you want. Remeber that all things end so no matter how much you hurt, it will end. really your a Marine Scout Sniper, for one if you were really a Marine you would capitalize that shit, secondly the M40A1 has not been used since 2003. We use M40A3, MK11, and M107 SASR, plus we are running some new rifles through the paces. So im to believe you really arent a Marine. Oh btw the M95 wasnt never used in the Corps. It was the M82A1/3 before it hit the M107.

Not saying you are incorrect.. but... When qualifying, during grass week, you want to qualify with either Marksman/Sharpshooter... to get a possible offer at scout sniper. If you qualify at all you get expert. To reinstate.. you should qualify OVER expert, if you want a shot at popping domes.
