  • @adam3251 Make sure you follow the final instruction and press the button for installing the scripts. If you _have_ done that, make sure that you haven't changed that setting. It's possible to rename that startup in the Linux Installer settings. PM me if you're still having troubles.

I am hardly trying to get Visual acess, but I cannot

  • on pc i like apt-get way better too XD

  • anyway to get a desktop? (GUI?), i've got no experience with linux but i love to toy with my phone like this, i have checked a little on google but nothing i tried worked. any help would be appreciated.

    and nice video man ;)

  • @jefftheworld after I type apt-get update is the Linux installed? Also, how do you install nmap, android sdk, etc. (Kind of new to Linux)

  • After I type linuxchroot do I type aptitude update?

  • @theSuperVil That's a good next step, sure. I usually use apt-get rather than aptitude, since it's better on a limited terminal like a phone.

Btw, I recommend the app "hacker's keyboard" if you've got a large screen or a tablet. Gives you a proper keyboard with all the function keys and whatnot. Makes it way easier to work in a Unix command line environment.

  • does it consume a lot of resources? what do you use it for mainly?

  • @dents0 In terms of storage space you can configure it to suit your needs. 300MB is the smallest you can set that parameter but I'd recommend at least 500 so you've got room for some applications and tools.

As for CPU and RAM usage, the chroot itself uses minimal resources. Obviously, any Linux programs you run will be different. Some stuff will use nearly nothing, while others will use as much CPU as it can.

  • Mainly I've been using it for infosec and pen testing tools. Nmap, ettercap, metasploit framework. In addition I've added gcc and perl, in case I want to do some scripting on the go and I plan on adding IDAPro if I can get it working (haven't tried yet, but it should work in theory).
