Can't believe this footage survived. The film shock in the 1930 was nitrocellulose. The problem with nitrocellulose film is the it decays fast in the heat and it flammable. For some odd reason Japan was prone to fires in the first half of the 40's. All the footage of pre war Kendo in measured in a few hundred feet of film . Sad when you think of the history of the sport lost foreven

They didn't show zanshin the same way we do today. They all seem to be staying on the same side they started. Interesting video.
