  • Is it supposed to be squishy?

  • can you use shoes with that pad?

  • To be honest, I don't know how it would hold up with shoes, as I never play in them. I can't assume it would have a good rating, though, if it performed poorly.

  • Hey there! Nice footwork in his video, but I have a question. Do you still own the iOn? How has it held up over the years? See, I'm saving for a metal pad, and so far, you're making the iOn look really good. Thanks!

  • I do still have my iOn pad back in Florida; I'm up at school in NY in the meantime. It has held up fantastically. I occasionally have to tighten the screws, which takes all of 5 seconds. That said, there has been NO trouble at all with structural integrity. :)

  • Does it make much noise? Thinking about my neighbours...

  • Hey there! It doesn't make that much noise laterally, but if you live ABOVE people, it may bother them.

  • is this pad like a balloon filled with air, or are you really heavy, or is the metal of the pad pretty thin because i don't think that a pad should warp THAT much when you are stepping on it.

  • Actually, none of the three :) it's on carpeting, and I shift my weight (all 150 lbs.) drastically -- so it can't be that, either. I think the carpet and weight shift combined throw the thing off.

  • okay, that's good to know, because i weigh 200lbs and want to get this

  • I have a question. Is this DDR pad good for someone who is 94 pounds, but does the same foot movement as you? Thanks.

  • Hey Astroman! I think it would be a great choice. I've never used a pad as sensitive. Remember, I'm only 140 -- and I tend to step lightly at times. I'm sure you'll love it.

  • Thanks!

  • is it me of does the pad not look metal? it looks a big foam pad? or does ur pad to that?

  • I hear that a lot, actually! It's most definitely metal. My freestyle method, however, is geared towards constant and dramatic weight-shifting, which -- while allowing for blazing foot movement -- also causes pad instability :)

  • Very nice footwork :) Im thinkin bout buying a good metal dance pad, after 3 yrs mine is finally wearing out, but it's not in stock anywhere anymore, so I'm clueless as to what i should buy.

So you think a Cobalt Flux would be better than an Ion?

  • Hey there captain tineil! Cobalt Flux, in my opinion, is much better than an Ion -- that is, if you want to go that route. The custom-making is wonderful :) THAT SAID, I play without shoes and LOVE my iOn and won't buy anything else...it just seems that everybody else loves CF :)

  • that pad looks crap

  • That's nice.

  • is the ion pad good? i'm looking at buying one if you could er please message me with the reply if you could.

  • Well, that's a good question. I ADORE my Ion pad. Supreme responsiveness. However, I will admit that it isn't particularly heavy duty if you play with thick shoes. If you're playing with shoes, it should be fine...but you MAY be better served by Cobalt Flux.

  • You say that the Cobalt Flux is better with shoes, how does the ion hold up with shoes? I can't picture myself playing DDR on a metal pad with socks, but I want a pad with a bar (so, ion's the only solid choice)

  • To be honest, I don't know how it would hold up with shoes, as I never play in them. I can't assume it would have a good rating, though, if it performed poorly.

  • well watching the screen would be a little more exciting then watching your legs move around.

  • Hey there! Actually, I operate under the assumption that if you know the song enough to search for "Go 60 Go" or In the Groove, then you'd know the steps. These videos are intended to show possible foot positioning for those aspiring to beat songs :)

  • Pad doesn't look too good.

  • Hey there, DC star. What's wrong with the pad, pray tell? I'll admit, it could use a bit of a windexing -- but, to be fair, my camera's a cheap 1CCD MiniDV camcorder, and I always have to maniuplate brightness, resulting in lossy quality.

  • Its not your camera its just that I had a pad like that and it started giving out soon after I bought it.

  • Ahhh...yeah, I've actually heard a few bad things about the iOn pads. I think one of the reasons mine has held out so well is because I play sans-shoes -- or maybe I'm just lucky I still get response :)

  • where did your old socks go lol?

  • Well, Frumpy, I had to put my socks on hold for a bit -- I'm only going to use them in DDR videos from now on (which I do on soft pad). I don't want the holes made by the pad to get any worse!
