The verse, if i'm not mistaken, hinges on the minor scale, evoking melancholy. The chorus then shifts to a major key evoking a happier vista. Like the Beatles of yore, The Heads were underrated musicians to most aficionados but their musical sensibilities compensate for any technical dearth.
