She is one of the best pianists ive heard perform, no one else that i know can play Rachmaninoff as gracefully, beautifully and expressively as her. Incredible, so much so that it cant be put into words
The lighting in this video is very psychologically appealing for the nature of this piece. Getting about halfway through the video I realized that the relatively surreal lighting seems to add a certain depth or clarity to each note. Interesting
she's my favourite pianist and i would give anything to watch her in concert in France .But unfortunatly i don't think there are antything planed here ... :(
This is the most mystically beautiful piece of classical music I've heard. The first 90 seconds is spellbinding. I wish Rachmaninoff had written more in this vein. VL's performance is the most sensitive and compelling of the versions I've heard here on YT.
Perhaps it doesn't do to analyse but I wonder why this piece affects me like no other. When I first heard it I was in the car. Fortunately I had parked because I was transfixed.
Maybe its the way the melody floats so independently over the quintuplet groups in the left hand. Maybe its the way the melody melts extatically into that series of quiverings.
Whatever, it is both tender and strong, it fills me with wonder and tears roll gently.
valentina i came across you doing beethovens appasssionata and i couldnt get enough it was so beautiful and passionate! i have since then looked up every performance i could find and i have never seen anyone play as good as you!! your newest and most loving fan!!! bravo!!
Valentina, your playing NEVER fails to touch me and I'm sure many others as well. Listening to you play is a gift from God. We Can't thank you enough for it.
Ola Sra.
Rachmaninoff hated having to go on trains and travel and go to halls and do concerts. He hated it but he never disappointed his audiences. Pianist - yes - one my mother watched in awe - but Composer foremost.
Rachmaninoff would quite simply have handed the concerts mantle of his works over to Valentina, and I'll bet he'd have watched her as a grateful member of the audience as well :)
She makes this piece seem so effortless to play! Beautiful interpretation :)

Her fingers seem to touch down so lightly, they look weightless. Yet she'd probably crush your hand if you were to shake hers.

@ByYourCommand I would love to shake her hand! :-D

Wonderful piano touch
She has the talent of very delicate Music though she does dynamic piano touch like Argerich.

Dear Valentina; I am emotionally awed by your unmatched performance of this Prelude, You are Rachmaninoff incarnate,
we shall never see it played better.
Please come back to Seattle or Portland,
I'm dying to see you in solo performance.
your number one FAN

@ValentinaLisitsa Math says that negative multiplied by another negative gives you positive. At least your children would have been happy. Lol.
