Burglar Bill must be fast. Think about it, he steals toast, not bread. So from the time that the bread has toasted, until it pops up and the bread owner comes back in to butter it, Burglar Bill has been in the window and swiped it.
Makes me wonder how they got him to stand still and pose for the illustration long enough.
oh i loved this video! so great! makes me want to find some of the books that my parents read to me when i was little. i remember there was one about a sheep that couldn't sleep... and one called crispin's crispian, which i really liked.
I think its funny how all the series are about relatively common and non-life-threatening diseases, then theres *meningitis*...
I was babysitting my neighbour once and we were reading this cute library book about some prince, and it turned out to be Oedipus... fortunately the kid just got confused while I freaked out internally XD
Did you never read the end of Burglar Bill or something? I seem to remember he sees the error of his ways and gives back all the stuff he nicked. Its a very moral story.
There are some topics, such as meningitis or even death, where a children's book is really helpful and quite appropriate when dealing with the particular issue.
I agree, Burglar Bill does NOT sound particularly helpful or appropriate when illustrating potential lifestyle or occupation.
I enjoy browsing the shelves of libraries for those amusing title/author name combinations. Such as "I Hate The Sun" by Gladys Knight, "It's Springtime!" by Theresa Green, and the classic "Making Explosives" by Stan Wellback. lol.. ;)
Emily is adorable.

Three words that can be interpreted from this video:
Hilarity
Family
Vanity
And strangely, Emily is quite like Charly!

I remember reading Burglar Bill as a kid.
I think if we are going to prepare kids for the harsh world, these days, we need: Benefit-theif Bertha, Happy-slapping Harry and Hit and Run Hilda.

I think also that a challenging book to write would be "Alan the Accountant".
The main question, is "Is his real name Josh, or is he called that, because he likes joshing with people?"

I can't wait for the "Rabbit for Syphilis"!

We don't have "Burgler Bill" here in the U.S. but we have "Mass Murderer Mike" and "Lucy the Lyncher."

Towns do love their new libraries! We got one a year or two back, it scares me, it's all glass.
PS is your printer as evil as it looks? It seems like it wants to take over .. every video it gets even closer to us, I swear!

I much prefer the sequel to Burglar Bill...
"Burglar Bill: and his wonderful adventure in prison"
(also availible as an audio book, narrated by Stephen Fry)
^_^

Brilliant vid, although I must say I laughed a little too much after seeing the message at the end.
Nice to see Emily join Josh as well - sometimes I just can't get enough of that laugh!
How's Charly, by the waysies?

Never did I think in all my days I would encounter a more cynical duo than Charly and Josh but this video has changed my mind.

I especially loved the bits about the animals with an illness

I still have my copy of Burglar Bill. At the time, "'bogalabol' said the baby" seemed like the best piece of writing ever.
Anyway, Bill sees the error of his ways in the end, and puts it all back, so it's a good book for children, so there.

My niece has a book about a pedophile.
Although, I don't think it glorifies pedophilia. Surely they wouldn't make him out to be a loveable children's character.
