@vpgclassic There are none like the Stranglers! :) But you could try Ultravox, Killing joke, The Jam, The Damned, or even Hugh Cornwells solo work. All good!
@pixiescam Thanks!, I know, i didnt mean songs like this one, but songs that have that kind of tone, new wave, synth pop, progressive, etc. But check out those, maybe you like em. And ill check the ones u posted. ;)
They remind me my one year staying in Israel at the middle's 80th's, to know them more than twenty years later in my little country town in lower Normandy, was great...!!
Grown up listening to the Stranglers through my dad......and still listen to them now, have even seen them every time they've toured the UK with my dad over the last few years!!
These guy's are awesome and still rock it hard even Jet Black at his age!!!!
when you have to create an artist to sell the music then you have a problem. These guys really did put the music industry to shame, they bucked the trend, they became very popular... and, unlike Cowells five minute arses, the Stranglers will be there long after!
Most under-rated group form the UK, even though they were very successful, especially in the EU. Not sure about the USA though. There was no other base player or keyboards, vocalist with this harmonious combination.
They were also big in France of course becasue of their French Connection.
Mot under-rated group even though they were very successful, especially in the EU. Not sure about the USA though. There was no other base player or keyboards, vocalist with this harmonious combination.
I was a huge Stranglers fan starting from 1977. My father liked this song, so what was I supposed to do (I was a rebelling dude after all) ??? I kept on loving them....
That's a different band (1977), or at least one of the members is from the 60s Stranglers. Which one? Or how did they get t2o use the name, The Stranglers?
How old are these guys? I just saw them in a 1965 B&W video and they were great then. This vids 1987 so they look a lot younger here. And they had another spurt of fame during the punk thing with the SeX P i S T o L S. But what are their ages? They gotta be just younger than the Beatles. Why can't Paul do punk?
How many times have you woken up and prayed for the rain? How many times have you seen the papers apportion the blame? Who gets to say? Who gets to work and who gets to play? I was always told at school, everybody should get the same. How many times have you been told if you don't ask you don't get? How many times have you wasted your money? your Mother said you shouldnt bet. Who has the fun? Is it always a man with a gun? Someone must have told you if you work to hard you can sweat?
Saw the stranglers last night 19/03.2011 at O2 Academy Birmingham, absolutely brilliant still got even now, great show by the lads great support from Wilko Johnson too.
I just adore the instrumental/solo part in this song. A good example for those who want to crank in too much into music when often simple and pure has a stronger effect.
I always thought this was a slight dig at greedy people in power saying, well there's always the sun, which is something bigger than you will ever be and you can't ever take it away.
