I was at the 1976 and 1977 DCI Championships in Philadelphia PA, and I remember the Seneca Optimists from Toronto (or Ontario) Canada placing 10th in '76 and 11th(?) in '77.
DCI Corps marched bells beginning in 1974 until the "front percussion staging area" was established in 1980. Some corps still marched bells after that, but most if not all were grounded by 1983.
ok KID keep watching real drum corp like this when every piece equipment was carried tymps too and you were a flag or rifle no some dancer that could not keep in step if they paid you
Oh my goodness..this corps was WAAAYYYY better than #42...the world's best drumline in 1977 and top 10 the two years prior to that!!! And all they rate is #42? I don't think so...this corps was fabulous, exciting and innovative. They burned bright for a short time, but their flame was very bright by any standards.
Seneca Optimist tied for 8th with us Freelancers Marching with congas? Killer

Goldsmith1210,
Will you post more Canadian Corps? The Les Chatellaine, The Seneca Optimists (were they from Canada?) and others that were part of the early DCI era

An amazingly clean snare line, year after year. Tom Float was great wherever he taught!

The 77 drumline was soooo tight! Without Kevlar. I want to say that DCI HOF's Tom Float and Ralph Hardimon are associated with that line somehow
