I got to see him perform this song live when he released his blues album, "From The Cradle". His opening act was Jimmy Vaughn, Stevie Ray Vaughn's brother. It was an amazing concert!
It is on the album From the cradle. It is an album with blues covers. But this is a one of a king song: deep and dark. Another deep and dark song is the Blues version of voodoo child.
This was by ray charles. But Clapton was in Cream, the blues psycedelia group, derek and the dominoes, another great blues rock group. Then look up his solo career, like running on faith, or blind faith.
Weedie , Try Ray Charles and BB King , they recorded this song together. Just listen to it myself .Clapton does a great rendition of it. But, BB & Ray 's version is the Gold
My, my, his tone is sweeter than Mary Jean's tasty pucci.

I really like the Leslie West version of this song, Sinner's Prayer from the Album Blue Me.
Just 2 guitars and vocals, it's well worth a listen.
