  • Would be handy if it kicked in before you reached 50 :p

  • Not totally true "Bully" many towing accidents happen at about 50 mph. This is about the speed people with their tow vehical & trailer realize there unit it not setup properly. Equalizing Hitch would solve most problems if the same people new how to set them up properly. This system is for such people it could help keep innocent people a live. Cheers

  • if ppl slowed down when towing u would not need this system all this will do is make ppl go faster when towing cos they think they can drive then it all goes wrong when the system fails

  • they must switched..

range rover on the trailer and defender on the road

    (thumbs up:))

  • @pimmetje97 no range rover in this video....

  • @wesleysuperman sorry i mean a discovery ;)

  • ....than my X5, btw, I learned to drive in Germany.

  • The X5 cannot tow 7700lbs, only 6000. The boat I tow, with trailer grosses at 7k and trust me, at altitudes of 6000' and with some of the downhill grades I am dealing with, you'd lose your brakes trying to tow it with anything other than a large pickup. Btw, my Diesel powered 2500 gets far better milage than

  • @CE750 I heard fom my dad who is a Freelance Quailty Engineer currently working for Rolls Royce and has worked for BMW in the past that a BMW X5 is THE worst 4x4 style vehicle to use to tow haulage, my dad has also worked for Land Rover consequently working for Range Rover too and the Dicovery 3 was named best vehicle in the WORLD to use as a tower from production to this day, therefore, bringing out a newer, more "educated" Disco (4) i guess this is the new world leader.

  • @WatkoProductions again, I never said the X5 was a great tower... moreover you don't need 4x4 to tow... it's just a waste of gas due to drive train drag... I use a 7850lbs Chevy 2500HD to tow.. Go into my profile and you can see a couple of videos I've made about it... 397hp and 765 torque with all that weight... it's as if I had nothing behind me ...

  • @CE750 I wasn't saying you said that, i was just giving you a fact of information from the production line in Coventry, England. I have seen your video on you channel of the Chevy, and to me it's still a bulky old gas gozeller that you Americans are labelled for. All i guess people are trying to say to you is that Land Rovers and Range Rovers are well known for being a good hauler, but then again why would somebody in America being using a vehicle with such small body shell...

  • @WatkoProductions that bulky gas gozeller as you call it gets 20-22 mpg highway and 15-16 while towing close to 10,000lbs... try that with anything made in Europe.. I wont lie, like I've said already the Range Rovers of old, and some of the newer stuff like the Defender are GREAT off road vehicles, but they're NOT in the same league if you're doing REAL towing... I can tow close to 20,000# behind me with full confidence .... they're two different tools for different purposes..

  • @CE750 Omg it's like trying to push piss up a hill.. Your missing my point completely.. I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just saying that using a Chevy, Ford or Dodge on British roads is humanly stupid because of the size of them and as for your Chevy doing 20-22 MPG on a motorway a Discovery 3 can do around 26 - 36 MPG and -20 towing. Granted it only has a advised towing capacity of 3500KG which is about 7716lbs yet there are plenty of videos on youtube of one pulling a 40ton (89600lbs) HGV.

  • @WatkoProductions ok brother... no worries.. peace.

  • I guess it depends where you live in the world, from the big open roads of Route 66 to the narrow country lanes of the Yorkshire Dales, Different life styles, Different surroundings, Different people, Different Designers create different things suited to their surroundings.

    Have a happy life..

Long live the Queen, God bless America.

  • hell lets all just drive around in tanks like you yanks.

  • @WatkoProductions jealous maybe? We pay less for fuel, and less taxes for our cars... If I tried to register that truck in the UK, it would cost another $60,000 in taxes to own... /sigh

  • @CE750 Jealous?.. What jealous of being a resident of the second largest country polluting the Earth's atmosphere.. Yeah nice going there mate.

  • @WatkoProductions Ever hear of BP? Ever see the oil slick they left us in the Gulf of Mexico? The number of jobs and businesses lost... and not a cent in restitution? Point the finger at yourself first... the UK (square mile for square mile, person for person) pollutes far worse than the US..

  • @CE750 I doubt it very much, mistakes happen and the mistake has been cleared. An accident happens once yet you Americans still seem to be producing gas gozelling vehicles, China is the worlds largest country polluting the atmosphere and at least their doing something about it.. And I like it how you Americans contradict us Brits.. yet our friendship has never been stronger.. we may be a little island but we can kick some serious ass.. just remember the British Empire.. owning 1/3 of the world.

  • CE750; - Surely you're not trying to compare a Discovery 4 (LR4) to an X5????

Off road, On road, towing or not, there's just no contest, the Disco walks all over the Beemer.

  • @WeaponsGradeMarmite no, my comparison was with a full sized diesel Chevy 2500HD truck... i don't tow with my BMW.. it's a unibody, "SAV"... hardly able to handle the loads I tow.

  • I'm a big fan of Land Rover for off road, especially the real ones like the one that's being towed on that trailer.... but if you want to seriously tow, you need a US style diesel truck from GM, Ford or Dodge.. I learned that the hard way using my BMW X5 to tow a boat and nearly rolling over the first time a semi truck passed in the opposite direction!

  • @CE750 - I really think that you're either exagerrating of you simply are a bad driver (like the vast majority of North American drivers are). I tow big boats with my 2000 540i and I don't experience any problems. That is a sedan, you remember. As far as I know, the X5 can tow 7700 pounds, so I don't see your point. Besides, why buy a crappy, loud and horrible handling dinosaur GM, Ford or Dodge? They waste tons of fuel. That's an overkill towing another vehicle. The Disco has no problems.

  • @maximusfuscus

So tell me, how long did it take you to observe "the vast majority of North American drivers"? I'm curious, simply because there were '190,625,023 licensed drivers in the United States in 2000' (per the US DOT). I'll bet it took you at least a couple days to compile your data for such an OBVIOUSLY well founded statement. And I didn't bother mentioning Canada and Mexico. Next time you're trying to insult someone, try and use facts.

  • @maximusfuscus

And on a side note, towing small trailers is achievable with an X5. But pull a 40', 19000# car hauler such as I do with my Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD, and let me know how well it does. And my 'dinosaur' Chevy, has an engine brake that saves my brakes on steep grades. Something your X5 doesn't.

  • @krafty777 btw... it was maximusfuscus that said the comment about the diesel trucks... not I.. I've got the X5 and a Chevy Duramax, and he's got just the 540 which he claims can do the job ... you and I are on the same sheet of music.

  • @CE750 My dad used to pull a 6 birth caravan with his BMW 528i which could just about pull away, then he upgraded to a 740i which did the job but the amount of fuel it gulped was tremendous. But now we don't caravan any more so we downgraded to a GM Vauxhall Signum 2.2 Direct for high mileage as my dad travels quite a bit around the UK.

  • @WatkoProductions but like all things American... our Caravans are significantly larger here... at least some are. I have one that I rent that's close to 30' long and weighs 11,000lbs loaded.. I also know a rancher who pulls a 23,000lb 25' cattle wagon... so there are sometimes needs for larger pickups.. Again, each vehicle fills a need... the Disco is more of a family SUV/off road sports vehicle... not a hard core tower.

  • @CE750 That's what im saying.. "Different life styles, Different surroundings, Different people, Different Designers create different things suited to their surroundings." Land Rover produce their vehicle suited to their surroundings, and their surroundings being Great Britain means that they are not going to be as big in those in America, i'd like to see you get a 40' trailer/caravan + your 15' truck though a country lane over here in the UK.. Just take a look at your road trains.. Fucking HUGE

  • and then take a look at our Denby Eco Link HGV.. It's British Engineering at it's best.. whereas you Americans slap the biggest things together because you have the room us Brits can't do that, apart from Rolls Royce.. Buts thats just in a league of its own in the book of British Engineering.

  • @WatkoProductions well, to be honest.... Land Rover sells more vehicles in the US then the rest of the EU combined.. (check the figures).... Also, my truck is close to 22' long so yeah, I know it would be a pain to maneuver in those tight village roads... but there is a French guy I know who's got a "Dooley" (that's a dual rear wheel setup) version of my truck (Chevy 3500HD) that he drives around in France pulling a small yacht. If you have the $, you can make anything work.

  • @CE750 Then again France is still a lot bigger than the UK and yet their still a bunch of frog eating pussies xD.

  • @WatkoProductions on this point you'll get no debate out of me! ;-) thanks for the chat!

  • @WatkoProductions Americans are bigger pussies than French, and thats a fact. Only americans are so dumb and uneducated to look at france as "pussies"... france...which ruled the world until 200 years ago...

  • @derbigpr500 Wrong. France has never ruled the world, the only country who has even come close is Great Britain when they owned 1/3 of the world. The French have never been on the upfront of finding or battling anything in this world.. For example what have they explored.... Nothing, What battle have they fought and NOT ran away from, aha Nothing. I suggest you go back to school and re-asses your basic world historic knowledge before coming onto YouTube and making yourself look like a troll.

  • @WatkoProductions Actually I believe it is you who should go back to school my friend, you've been badly mislead regarding your information on France. France has won more wars than any other nation in the world, -- history doesn't start with the 2nd World War! Great Britain has the highest ratio of wins to losses but the French have won most overall.

We did give them a jolly good thrashing during the Napoleonic era though ;)

  • @SamTheSuave Since when do ever hear "The French have gone into war again", never. What im trying to say is compared to United Kingdom of Great Britain and United States of America, the French, are pussies. They can never finish a fight (war), for example, WWl AND WWll, both wars they backed out leaving us to finish their business, the same thing has happened in todays wars, for example Barak Obama has taken out around 85% of America's troops while leaving Great Britain to finish it of..........

  • And it's not even our god dam war :O!

  • Respond to this video... we also make small cars here..... check out the Chevy Volt, an electric hybrid... or the Ford Focus... both US made and small.... in the US, we have it all.. small, medium, large and extra large... it's the "American" way.. utter freedom (for better or worse).. Anyway... nice chatting.. God Save the Queen!

  • @CE750 I get you man, but like I said I laugh when I see people driving those things throughout America because the contrast of the small car big city kind of thing is just funny. But I hear you, Good luck with the gas gozeller ;) and towing.. God Bless America!!

  • @CE750 You're wrong. Both Chevy Volt and Ford Focus are not originally american. Chevy Volt is just a copy of Opel Ampera, which has been developed in europe years ago, and Ford Focus was fully designed and engineered in europe. And no....you dont have it ALL, actually, you have none of it as far as cars go...US makes literally 20 times less car models than europe makes, and most of them are complete crap...no new technologies, badly built, old fashioned, no style..thats the american way..

  • @derbigpr500 that was true years ago, clearly you haven't been here lately... the new Cadillac CTS are kicking their competition's ass... as is the new Corvette... build quality all is on par with the top European competition...I agree, over all the cars in Europe (the higher end ones, not the little boxes you all drive) are better.. there are MORE of them here in the US then there are in their own country is what I was saying... i.e. we have it all... I own a E320CDI and BMW X5, I know.

  • @derbigpr500 also, The Volt WAS NOT designed in Europe.. GM uses some Opel parts (mind you Opel is a GM company and engineering is shared between both EU and US engineers).... The Volt was designed and is built in the US. The Focus was a "World Car" and designed on both sides of the Atlantic. Again, however Ford is a US company. So lets give credit where it's due.. Mercedes and BMW, Porsche and even VW are great makers... but most other countries in Europe struggle to make anything.

  • @CE750

Absolutely sir. I was referring to his comments. I apologize for any misread statement. And btw, I enjoyed your stump-pulling video. I probably would have used chain, but you still demonstrated the chevy's superior power and control.

  • @krafty777 no worries man.... I just love getting these brits panties in a know over something trivial... peace.

  • @CE750 The Land Rover your thinking of is called a "D90".. and It's all good saying that you need a "US style diesel truck" yet the size of these vehicles is not practical for Great Britain's roads and country lanes, That's where the great British engineering came in to hand and Land Rover was born, it's practical, it easily fits in our roads and it has huge pulling power, you'll find near as dam it every farmer has one.
