If you have a laptop with a built-in vid cam, just use a piece of tape and cover the lens. I'm sure many others allow friends or relatives to use their computer from time to time, so Google can not be 100% sure your searches are all YOURS. Just be sure you trust others you allow to use your computer to keep it clean as far as their searches. It's not what they think they know; it's only what they can PROOVE that matters.

I let friends & neighbors who have no computer use my computer all the time while logged into my Google account; as I have nothing to hide and do absolutely no online banking. Just because you have an IP Address, does not mean you are the only one using Google to search for things via your IP. That being said, the "burden of proof", that it is actually YOU who is the user at any given time on Google can not be prooved; as long as the searches are benign and no one is going to illegal websites.

I'll tell you someone else who's doing this, but they'll never come clean: Auto Trader. They now own Kelley Blue Book, and they also own a company that manages dealership websites. When someone shops in any or all of those environments, Auto Trader can monitor that traffic on a macro level. If the shopper submits a "lead", they can tie that entire cross-platform user session to a name, e-mail address and phone number. And I know for a fact they're doing (at least) this much already.
